I'm going to set the world record electric skateboard ride from Boston to San Diego next year. I'm going to stop at Hodad's at Ocean Beach for lunch. It's going take 30 to 40 days and going to be so much fun! That Evolve looks fun.

@@DavidManningvlog I"m not 100% sure just yet. Probably just a board I throw together myself. It needs an 12S 8P or 10S 8P battery so I can ride 100 miles per day with one charge around noon each day. I've been planning this for a year. My wife thinks I've lost my mind. Can't wait to eat at Hodad's again.

I got so pumped after watching it that I bought a Stoke. I just got it today and am LOVING it so far.
I wanted to ask what helmet you use and if you recommend it? I am also looking for recommendations on (comfortable) pads and would appreciate any and all advice (grip tape, best practices, etc.)
(To give you a little background: I am a middle aged guy who loves the ocean. However, being stuck in a land-locked part of the country for most of my adult life, I compensated by starting to surf skate last year. I finally made the move and now live across the street from the ocean, but the surf skating has stuck. I was so inspired by one of your earlier videos, I decided to buy a Riptide. However, by the time I discovered it, it was no longer available. I had pretty much given up till I stumbled across your Stoke video and here we are!)

The remotes remind me of a Wii nunchuck & also a police speed checker thing. 🤣
That jolting acceleration scares me, as a lightweight female I’d totally go flying off without a handlebar to save me. Haha.
the launch in GTR mode is crazy.. i learnt quickly to plant my front foot heavy directly over the front joint and i am fine now.. it is soo much fun!!!!
Hahaha! Totally like a Wii nunchuck🤣 The acceleration absolutely has that WOW pull to it. It's funny because I had that for awhile on my Series 1, but then you sort of get used to it. Switching over to this gave me that same fun, just on the edge of control, feeling again🙌
Great review, i love my stoke series 1.. just park outside the peak area and ride in to the city, soo convenient. have you tried just the phaze remote on the series 1.. i am tempted to just get that because i dont like the feel of the original remote?

nice video although i don't get the v2 label and the purpose of this board. The stoke is a good-looking board that is probably good ad carving but lot off boards are, and it has a really small battery compared to all other boards 15km is not allot for most riders. And the travel friendliness is nice, but it is too big to travel comfortable with it, I already got issues taking my smaller board (EXWAY WAVE). Also, this board is priced pretty high compared to the value you get from it, for 1200 you can get a 2 in 1 board with 4 times the range, more comfort, and way more speed. evolve should have given this board more range and a lower price that way it would be a good option for way more people.

I love every single thing about the Stoke Series 2.... except the griptape and foam pad like you said. Is there any way to modify the board and remove it all and then put on your own griptape? Or maybe sand off the whole top of the board and then add your own griptape like you said you're going to do?
Yep, I'm going to do it to my Stoke 1 and I'll let you know how it goes! Basically just going to peel the foam and then sand down the whole top of the board before adding my own grip tape. It think taking away the foam will make the board a rougher ride, but much grippier!

I saw in another review that this board is good for carvers. I’m on the smaller side and looking for this size of board to commute (not necessarily carve.) Could this work for a commute or would it create too much wobble?
I believe that the "carvy-ness" comes down to the flexibility and mobility of the trucks, and the Stoke's small cruiser-size deck plus its Super Carve Trucks with double barrel/kingpin design lend the board to great carving. However, you can tighten trucks to be so tight that it's almost impossible to turn, so I'm sure you could find the perfect balance of corner maneuverability and a wobble-free ride without a problem! Hope this helps :)
If only I ever learnt how to ride a skateboard or had lots of flat open spaces around where I live lol
Electric Scooters are pretty much banned to ride anywhere too, apart from private property wonder if they class these things the same.

Dude, it's so dope! The Phaze remote alone would be a huge upgrade, but the E-FOC motor controller gives it a totally different ride feel🙌

It's a whole lot of fun Matthew! I know OneWheels aren't known for their speed, but I did go flying past a couple guys on OneWheels in Encinitas while testing this board🤣
@@DavidManningvlog biggest issues I have with the OW is weight and you can’t stop and stay on the board. You’re either on it and floating or off.
Watching your vid and my fiancé said you look like mark rober. I disagreed until she pulled up a pic and now I can’t unsee it haha (it’s a compliment I’d think though!)
Just got one today. Went for a ride, noticed the speed was off. They sent it with the wrong pulley size selected, no big deal. Then I was riding and the brakes went full lock and threw me off. Full pads, only minor rug burn from the pads. So I took it out again after I charged it. And it threw me a second time. I should have recalibrated the remote after the first. But I wanted to see if I could replicate the problem. Now I really don’t trust it. I have 4 other evolve boards too and never had a problem like this.

@@technohc4939Carbon gt already bought second battery, gtr loads to 93 percent and drops to 81 percent after 30 min without using. Max 15 km Range, was at 30+

I know the battery cells are the same, the motors are the same and deck is the same. so really wondering if the new Efoc is that much of an update. cheers
That's a great idea. I'd like to know if there is a noticeable difference too. I own a Hadean and the power delivery feels smoother than the GTR but I don't know if the motors play a part in that too.
it feels like evolve ran out of time for the stoke and upgraded some small parts to make more money from suckers buying an outdated low specked board that has very little purpose.
In Australia skateboards are seen as weapons so it’s not airplane friendly there
Brake was definitely better but the acceleration didn’t feel any stronger to me, was just a quieter version of the same thing with a subtly smaller battery apparently…GTR had a stronger acceleration but it’s just a lowkey version of that annoying jerky startup thing the hadean does then the same power follow up. Reliability-wise I can see these as being good upgrades but that’s about it to me.
Man, mine is significantly more pull off the line that my Series 1. I've put them side by side a bunch and the Series 2 is way snappier off the line. I think you're right though that it's still a minor upgrade. More like an S version of a product line👍
@@DavidManningvlog I think I’m just used to modded boards now so going back to trying a stoke didn’t feel that punchy anyway. Still an awesome little board, just not where I’m at anymore.

Not in speed or range, but the power delivery and braking is way better! This is sort of an S version of the Stoke👍 Like I said in the video, if you have a Stoke 1, no need to upgrade, but if you don't have one yet, this is a great time to buy
