I love how Bonga is taking on motherhood, “is baby healthy and alive”. A lot of new moms go through a lot with everyone dishing out advices.
I loved what Given said about being there for the mom, that’s very wonderful. And also having friends and family checking up on the dad because he’s also going through it all as well.
I didn’t even know that new dads also go through this whole process.

Discussion at 33:40 - I just finished Gabor Mate's when the body says no, which elaborates on the impact of the lack of community on autoimmune diseases and other chronic illnesses. Oprah's what happened to you does also touch on this. The findings have made me think about the need to be intentional about having a support system and just to think about what I would like my family structure to look like one day (I do understand the curve balls in this).
So many areas to check in on, building a community is definitely high up on the list!
Beautiful chat TCC fam. One thing about being a new parent - it’s epiphany upon epiphany shem😅. Congratulations to you both Bonga and Given.
The most notable thing for me in this chat was the agency that you both are able to exercise over the parenting process. Having children when you are ready for them is so underrated. I did not have a lot of that because I was a third year student when I fell pregnant and my parents literally shipped me back to school a month after I gave birth. I had no room to even feel let alone process the changes and emotions that come with it all. I had over supply of milk but living at res. I hated getting pics of the milestones and coming home for the holiday breaks to a child that didn’t recognize me. I didn’t even have room to express that because I must be grateful that they were helping me out of the mess I created. I never finished that degree.
My boy is 14 now and we are flourishing but it took me years of inner work. Anyway, love your work ❤

I've been in a foreign country for almost a year and the need for a community has me on my knees daily and now the discussion at 33;40 added to my anxiety.
Finding a community after moving countries, or even cities can be such an overwhelming process. But it can also be an exciting challenge! We wish you all the best, keep us posted ♥️

Currently pregnant and absolutely enjoyed this.. I’m 30 living at home and the advises I’m getting everyday are too much. From being forced to eat a full plate of food to “dnt wear clothes that show/ dnt post about your pregnancy” plus dealing with a partner who isn’t ready for baby when I am so I’m understanding of him and his choice but people around me aren’t having it (forcing me to take him to court etc) guys kuningi!!
