The Best Car the USA NEVER GOT, Japan's ONLY Chauffeur-driven V12 Car | Toyota Century 97' Review

- Yes, it is Japan's only Chauffeur-driven Car! The plant where the Century is produced is very different from a standard mass-production plant. There is no assembly line, no long row of cars. There is no sound of electronics or machinery. In this quiet, spacious area, a small number of highly trained, skilled craftsmen create cars almost as if they are producing works of art. The production process for the Century has five steps: stamping, body, painting, assembly, and inspection. Each step incorporates the master craftsmanship one would expect for a Century. Also, this car was mentioned in Donut Media's "10 Best Cars the USA NEVER GOT" as #1.

The difference here is this car is more reliable in every-single way than ANY Rolls Royce ever made by far
Ouch😥 it's More Rolls than Rolls Royce😆
TheMuzikall The New Rolls doesn’t even use Steel Sleeves in the aluminum block literally. This is how cheap air-cooled lawn Mower blocks are made!
@@Mr.Beastforpresident The Opening Line in your reply.... "The New Rolls Royce" . the Century.. is a 97 model..plus the BMW RR...is too Ostentatious 😆
Stealth Wealth is what Century is all about and funny enough Bentley are doing that better than RR..BMW has taken RR up the Ostentatious ladder....when I came to London I thought those Huge Daimler were RR😆....used to walk pass Silver Shadows II.. without knowing they were RR..even though they "smell" of money..lol
@@RAYSGT 😆. If I was in that league...I will buy a Bentley 😆😆😆
TheMuzikall fuck that, newer high end cars like that are just trash imo, if I ever got anything luxury oriented it would be an Infiniti or something from the era of the Century.
Donut Media top this car in 1st on the top 10 car's that aren't sold in the U.S
and there is a donut guy there
Yes thats true
Donut media showed this car to me first. That's why I saw this video. I found it interesting that the videographer didn't state earlier on that the car is only sold to those who are *_chosen_* by Toyota.

JDM Yakuza Boss Special Edition
Indeed, it got me thinking of the movie Brother from Takeshi Kitano..OSU!
The Yakuza staff car is the Toyota Alphard, isn’t it?
Yakuza they dont drive any Japanese car, the japan goverment not allow, the Yakuza drive merc/ benz..
Yakuza boss rides Mercedes lol
Recently yakuza are mostly elderly which can’t ride sedan anymore. They have all shifted to Toyota alphard
If this intro doesn't get a Grammy nomination I'mma be HEATED.
Best JDM youtube channel in the world. Regards from Panama, Latin America.
Many will call me insane, but I think this car is actually properly cool. It must be because it absolutely nails that sweet spot between being over-the-top as a product and being modest as an appearance.
I couldn’t find anything about this car online. Couldn’t have picked a better person to review it. God I love this fuckin channel.
I have never seen a century in any other colour than black! its nice to see a different coloured one! Beautiful shots at the start! and great choice of attire! thank you for another great video!
It’s official vehicle and the color always black.
I've seen the blueish gray in real life but it's quite rare
Exactly why USA did not deserve such a car... Complaining and you know nothing...
Couldn't agree more
@@MitsuUltra Because US citizens or people from any other country will never understand the prestige that matters for higher family lineage(Class and lineage are different things, keep it on mind), this particular car is not meant for clueless peasants(LIKE ME) or just another wealthy person who don't give a damn about family lineage. It's that how Japan is. We can't do anything about it.
Easy words, this car is meant for peoples who has like Emperor lineage.
The suit! It shows how much thoughts was put into making this video! Toyota Century/Crown is such a cool piece of car. Sort of "I am rich and important but i dont really want to flex"
exactly. i've seen people review an s class in a track suit which is no good
I just bought one and drive it in Virginia. I love it.
It was pain importing it but it was worth it. It's 1992 V8 version. I will upload the videos soon.
I do similar imports. We have LC70 LandCruiser, Century and many more
Would like to purchase the v12 and ship to Africa. Please revert as you get this
@murcroadster I just uploaded the video. But did not mention cost to import. Overall I paid roughly $2,600 to import it to Baltimore MD. This included all of the insurance, freight, transport within Japan, etc.
@@shooting4star2023 parts are expensive tho
@@dragospahontu You can use jz engine parts essentially this is just 2 inline 6 it has 2 ECUs so if the one fried you can still drive it like a 6 cylinder
Hello from Canada. The dignified delivery of this review is a breath of fresh air. Well done and thank you.
Very awesome, there are around 10 of these for sale in my city all with price tags of around $14,000 - $19,000 NZD. Not even 24 hours and a seller has already used your video on their listing Lol great stuff, awesome car.

I think one point that was missed in this video about the wool interior but was touched on in Regular Car Reviews video on a similar Century in NZ; Wool is an amazing material as it naturally wicks moisture from your body, meaning even on a hot summer day you wouldn't be getting sticky like in a leather interior. It's also a great insulator so on cold days you are being kept warm. One point as well is it's naturally anti-microbial, meaning it stays cleaner for far longer and doesn't develop that "gooch juice" smell even after years of ownership. Wool is far far far superior to leather imo because of those reasons and why I imagine the Century was developed that way.
Japanese are vegans, so no leather 😋
Wool is also the preferred material for the House of Windsor
in the Queen and Prince Philip's limos...
Alexander Fielding - Merino wool is considered the “gold standard” for a cold weather base layer. In addition to the advantages you listed, it’s also fire resistant. And *if* it burns, the fumes aren’t toxic like synthetic materials - an important thing with carpets.
And it muffles any sound or any noises
Video quality getting better episode, keep it up! Hello from Vancouver, Canada.
One of the best channel about JDM cars on the Internet. Accurate and detailed information. Very well documented explanation and the history of every cars in every of his videos. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼This guy is truly a JDM dictionary.
Your channel is awesome...no frills, just informative. You are doing a great job connecting Japanese culture and history with the particular car in review.....feels like you had a hand in the engineering or manufacture of the cars also....nice.
First time a saw a Toyota Crown Majesty my jaw dropped and to know the Century is a level above that.. what a feat of craftsmanship and engineering.. excellent video sir
Yes! The Crown is an elegant piece of land transport! It's not so hard to adore it! And then this Century!
I really appreciate having the owner with all of his knowledge describe the features on this vehicle
always wanted to know more in-depth info about this car, and here you are!

Another great video. Appreciate all the real bits of info, the context of the vehicle's design, as well as taking a deep dive into technical specs with someone who is clearly knows their stuff.

Hi Japan! Subscriber here from the Philippines!
Waiting for you to declare it as surplus and send it here in Ph. Your garbages are our Gold!
Yeah, this channel is refreshing for sure. This guy is the Louis Theroux of commentator for JDM cars explaining for the layman, which is perhaps entertaining.
Thank you very much for making this video as there is so few videos of Toyota Century that are this detailed!
Best episode in terms of production value and cinematography so far. Keep it up 👍
Watching a Toyota review, ads came in= "Honda, the power of Dreams"

Congrats This video is amazing Nice concept
Bro thanks for this video I've never seen this car b4 its beautiful
Very informative video, I learned a lot. The hipster really knows his stuff, I would love to see this car in person.
I’ve been studying the century. I’ve owned a 92 LS400 Lexus. I have a 2001 LS 430 ultra premium package, as well, a 2010 LS 460 L AWD, Ultra premium package.
It’s quite phenomenal what the LS400 had as features , notable for the 1992 year, a 3-D instrument cluster which if replaced was $2400 back then. U didn’t see it for long, too costly, just a trinket for the early flagship purchasers Other features are, heated memory seat, auto entry and egress telescopic tilt steering wheel. Double pane laminated glass, extra thicker glass on the windshield = ultra quiet car. And the air condition activated fridge between the seats in the rear armrest zone. There are 1,000,000 mile LS 400s on the road today. The 430 is even dreamier. The distronic cruise control was way ahead of most cars. It’s sort of had Lane departure warning if you drifted over the white line on the right hand side, (left-hand steer of course) it reduces the car speed quickly and gave an audible continuous beep. It also had an LS 430 image seen in the instrument cluster, with little active brake lights seen as the brakes were applying. This superseded the otherwise auto engine down shifting when more urgent braking was calculated by the Cruise control computer. Of course this is pre-priming the brakes for immediacy. Lexus was way ahead by 10 years of Mercedes. Furthermore, Self levelling air suspension with adjustable height. Computer influenced centre consul Oscillating vents responding to drive or passengers individualized temperature desires. So my super air-conditioning doesn’t blow on her warmer side so it adjust the amount of slide corresponding to the two different temperatures, that’s really awesome. Ya, studying their movement you start to learn these things. Favourite colour, Midnight Jade. Everybody thinks the car is black but then on the right angle the whole car is emerald green, it’s beautiful.
Dudes in the US recently have discovered that the LS 430 engine silk and indestructible thus they are becoming racing modifier. In Japan the entire cars are totally pimped out spectacularly. These cars are not going anywhere. I’m blown away by the new Century that looks like a Rolls-Royce, it’s magnificent. As my 2010 LS 460 is still pretty new to me, one 1/2 years, whats the rush,,,, and u guys can read all about it easily, investigate. Owners manual is over- 5 hundred pages. Its my titillations to saver for years.
This is a beautiful car, i would love to have the honor to be driving in it.
Great video, you earned a subscriber my friend.
A most informative and interesting review of the Toyota Century motor cars.

Kemal Kula - im 40 and I dont want a sports car. I like something understated, powerful, smooth, luxurious, with simple elegance and refinement.
Greets from France, awesome job here!!
I really enjoyed this, thank you
This is the best review of this car out of any on you tube.
I love this channel so much, I’m going to convince my wife of a trip there (Japan), thank you.
The c pillar pillow is a genoius idea. When i try to sleep in a normal car i just hit my head on the seatbelt knob
“The name Century means “100 years” in English”
Big brain time
But you don't know the meaning of decade, unlike me.
Nice intro. Amazing effort
Lovn this content!
Very well done! Thanks
Great video, I personally got to see a few of these when I was in Tokoyo & Nagoya in 2012... the passengers usually elderly well dressed businessmen. There were a few in Hong Kong also, to think just a few years ago these were selling here in NZ for $5,000 to $10,000 for a very good one now the price has gone up sharply! I test drove one in grey a 1997, beautiful supple ride.. my friend was looking to buy it but couldn't decide if it was for him :) I found out about these when one featured in that brilliant Bill Murray movie Lost in Translation ... love the end scene the most!
The late 90's was Toyota's best years. I still drive a 1996 Camry Vienta Grande and after all these years it still runs like a dream.
Best car ever owned. Love it to pieces. Don't forget the duster in the trunk made with ostrich feathers. Or the Toyota shaver.... 🤣
You, have the best channel on youtube.
Great video, would love to see one about the Crown
Nice Video, I enjoyed it! Did You took some scenes at the Gōtoku-ji in Setagaya-ku ?
Awesome video and car!
Not 1JZ-FE, 1GZ-FE is the engine code for this beautiful, elegant machine. This is truly a bespoke luxury vehicle from Toyota and is the product of traditional Japanese craftsmanship that is second to none! Toyota did an amazing job with this car! Made in Japan greatness
00:25 somehow Joshua fits the profile perfectly 😂
Great car, love the understated elegance of it.
It could never get to places in time with this. 😆
What a great introduction to Toyota Century.
Thanks a lot for this amazing, arty and complete review with pieces of original proportion videos and differents points of views... Great Job !
So hard to find informations from users of this car. I'm interessed to buy on but what is the gas consumption ?

Zane don’t be renting that pristine car for proms or wedding, bad idea. The damage can’t be undone.
Hi
Thanxs for bringing us the story of that incredible 'Toyoda'
What a beautiful car
I wouldnt be able to decide between the blue or the black.....blast it...ill take both lol
Just wonderful presentation. I was feeling while watching this video that I am in a Toyota Century dealership and I am going to buy one. Sadly I dont have the money
Will you review the LS400? btw I love this channel for real
Actually I want to request Captain Bradford to review Toyota Century but then this video appear.... One of the most beautiful japanese car

Great production, excellent content, contributors and presenters. The car is the star though. Wow.
I am in love with the newest model.
Nice one👍🏻👍🏻
My father inlaw bought one of the first ls400s 1990 had the grey wool seats i think it cost low 30k the best car ever!! Better than any Rolls-Royce or Bentley back than!!!!! You could not hear that car run or hear anything outside!!! Super super quiet and smooth!! I loved that car!! Black exterior grey interior great gage cluster!!
