- Marianne Faithfull performing "Something Better"
From The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus
Recorded before a live audience in London in 1968, The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus was originally conceived as a BBC-TV special. Directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, it centers on the original line up of The Rolling Stones -- Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman (with Nicky Hopkins and Rocky Dijon) -- who serves as both the show’s hosts and featured attraction. For the first time in front of an audience, “The World’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band” performs six Stones classics. The program also includes extraordinary performances by The Who, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, Yoko Ono, and The Dirty Mac. A ‘supergroup’ before the term had even been coined, the band was comprised of Eric Clapton (lead guitar), Keith Richards (bass), Mitch Mitchell of The Jimi Hendrix Experience (drums), and John Lennon on guitar and vocals.

And Mick by the way......Marianne STILL... is the Most Beautiful Woman you ever had.
We, all The Rolling Stones fans loves Marianne!
Marianne at her most beautiful, with a vulnerable bird-like quality. Wish this song was much longer, though.
What a different time, era. The music had substance and meaning, i can't even explain todays music!
Marianne Faithful was so beautiful back in the day.
She is simply stunning here in her beauty and presence.
There's something special about her, can't take my eyes off
I love this song by her. Should have been a big hit. ❤
I would've done anything to be there.
John Lennon, Clapton, Marianne, The Stones, The Who, Jethro Tull, and many others, just wow.
Me to man I'm only 21 but I'd love to be there to especially because Tony iommi was there and black sabbath is my favourite band my older mate showed me this one of the best things I've watched
Yes! It was wow!
Tony Iommi was there playing guitar with Jethro Tull, that night would have been AMAZING, so many stars.
This was the end of the old Marianne & the beginning of the new. I still have the single. X
Just a truly amazing Woman.. amazing Songstress, writer, singer ... and amazing performer
Marianne Faithfull, a true survivor ❤️ First of heroin, then liquor and finally Covid. Good on her 😊
And don't forget all the cocksucking as well pet 😂, piss me backwards, what junkies do for a score 😒😝!!
She survived Mick, too...
@cameronbrown3018 Cancer as well. She's a warrior!

Voice of an angel
So beautiful
such a magical woman, she will stand the test of time.
THE ANGEL OF THE 60S....
The sixties encapsulated in less than 3 minutes. Great live vocal btw
Peace Love and the Sixties 💙
Moon in Pisces = ethereal. This is my favorite performance of hers. Many times I sense a shyness from her and she is quite confident here.
I remember hearing this song when I was very young on radio and when i got the DVD of the rolling stones rock and roll circus 🎪 i was pleasantly surprised to see this was part of that event
She was very beautiful here. Wow
I agree!
Soooooo gorgeous
she is still very beautiful - it depends on your perspective.
@@davidholiday4494 Yes i see what you mean. But she's very PHOAARRR here as apposed to the beauty that comes with age.
@@andydixon2980 Agreed!!!!
Da rarara ra rara, rara rarara...the memory remains!!!
Beauty, tenderness, exceptional voice ...

Memorabile Marianne Faithfull in appena due minuti realizza un capolavoro
Gorgeous! So beautiful.
Sad and beautiful
Un angelo che canta Marianne Faithful era la musa di Mick Jagger con una voce INCANTEVOLE
if only this song was longer, what a great performance. God bless Marianne Faithfull
The ending should have been longer and brought her back for a few lines.
Surely one of Marianne's most memorable appearances- stole the show! The very sexy ultra-hip, shag haircut, THAT dress! Her incomparable beauty, sexy charm and a song so suited to her unique voice- unforgettable! Love, A Long Time Fan from Canada
Hope you are feeling better now. Your music is unforgettable and reminds me of better days.
Her voice had already changed so much by this point.
I think it got more mature. (Besides the drugs of course)
I love her young, middle aged, old, and forever...💜💟💜
@@agstinacueva1673 well.. take the drugs away and her voice would sound completely different.😂
Cocaine... lots of it
yes, it is quite startling, I thought it wasn't until much later in the "Broken English" era that her voice changed. I'm one of those who think it made her much more interesting and distinctive.
My love for Marianne is borne out of admiration and respect for her, she is a diamond♥
Lady Jane Forever 💙
Such a beautiful song
wow perfect restoration!
Beautiful.
amazingly stunning
Thanks 4 sharing this beautiful creature's song
Voice: Marianne Faithfull
Drums: Charlie Watts
Piano & Horns: Jack Nietzche
Bass: Maybe Bill Wyman or Keith Richards
Slide Guitar: Ry Cooder
Acoustic Guitar & Producer: Mick Jagger
This is not live performance
@@cursino1 I´m talking about the original song. And she´s singing . Only the music is playback.
All the performances in Rock n Roll circus was alive
maybe Brian Jones at the guitar,Jagger can't play it
@@f1driversassociation Jagger could play acoustic, just not very good at first. And he would go on to play electric on many songs.
That's impressive.
Gorgeous👌👌👌👌✨✨✨💫💫🤩🤩🤩
This is THE best song! Like: on Earth!!!!
Very beautiful!
Beautiful Marianne !
God! She looks smoking' here!
Indeed, an angel with one hell of a rack on her!
smoking weed
Michael B way to talk about a woman :/
Released as a single in the UK in February 1969.
Beautiful!
Love this tune. 1:40. Stunning. Sadly it’s all going to change in the months to come. Brian dies, Marriane almost joins him and Mick betrays Marriane and then sends her away
Just adore this song so pretty
Perfection
Thank you for enriching my life, I hope to see you perform live one day.
stunning
Hermosa, recupérate pronto 💖
Well done, stunning!
... the circus cage I believe to be the human form, oh to rise above and never to return.. 🕊🕊🕊🕊
Talking of circuses, The R&R Circus was on Sky Arts last night. There were TwoLadySingers on, beginning with the elegant beautiful Marianne (And Your Bird Can Sing) Faithfull, and towards the end Yoko (And Your Bird Can Scream) Ono. What a contrast! I suppose to get John on the show, Yoko came with the package. But I will take Marianne singing "Something Better" over Yoko screaming "A Whole Lotta Yoko", with supergroup and violin backing. The Stones gave a credible performance, so I wonder if the tapes were put into the deepest vaults because they didn't want to embarrass John.........
At her breathtaking loveliest. Interesting track too.
TRES Cool
Always brings tears to my eyes.
Sweet.
This is such a beautiful performance! Words can't describe.....
I like how she just sits there at the end
Bellissima Marianne Faithful un brano molto toccante breve ma molto intenso
I got there before you sunshine ❤️👖😜👍!!
Beautiful😊
Toda una hermosa canción y un clásico hasta hora, dé Marianne Faithfull.
She's a lovely loverleee!
what a beautiful woman
If I dated some girl so beautiful as Marianne Faithful, I would be the happiest man on Earth.
This should have been a huge hit.
Why? It sucks.
@@scatrrr you are entitled to your opinion, but why be on her video page and comment on my comment then and be a male Karen?
She was pretty much tarnished by the Stones drug bust at this point along with the sexual allegations that came from it. "Something Better" and the B side "Sister Morphine" were the first songs She'd recorded in quite a while. They were also the last songs She'd record until well into the 70's. Keith's guitar works so well with her voice. She did Patti Smith's "Ghost Dance" with him sometime in the 90's.
It was for the writer Ohil Ochs
@@sillambretta FWIW this is Ry Cooder on guitar on this song and Mophine. Sounds like Keith tho...thought it was him till i looked it up....
December 11, 1968 - The Intertel (V.T.R. Services) Studio, Wycombe Road, Wembley, London
Sweet darling looking here love the pixie haircut ! Beautiful Marianne ! ♥️🎶✨
Lindo demais!
Giovanissima è bellissima Maranne Faithfull partecipa al Rock è roll circus con un brano breve ma molto intenso
luv
Gorgeous and admirable...😘
Que cantora fantástica!
Lovely
What a Song! What a voice!
This is haunting. Being with Jagger was in many ways a disaster. She was too good for the likes of him. Marianne looks incredible, truly beautiful 😍
It was that slime, k Richards junkie 😝, that f xk ed her up 😜, vile junkies fxxxk all around them 💯💨!!
@@kevinruddy448 Very sad. She's completely high, her eyes hardly blink. But she's one of life's great survivors.
I agree! It wasn't good for her to meet Jagger......
Finally...
genial
❤️
Love
Une princesse...
She’s just so beautiful here.
💎
1:50--damn! Beautiful woman. Great Artist.
le top!
She has those natural ‘sad’ eyes. My mother’s eyes are also angled in that way. It’s very distinguishable.
I just found out recently that she and Nick Cave collaborated on an album. God, what a beauty she is, and a voice that gets you in the heart and soul!
she has done a lot of work with Nick Cave and others in the past few years - If you have not already - listen to her album "Negative Capability" - an absolute masterpiece.
@@davidholiday4494 I have the album on my saved playlist. But I haven't had a chance to listen to more than a couple of songs yet. It sound impressive so far as I've heard. She's so timeless!!
Que belleza de mujer es 😍
mulher linda de vocal lindo tmb!
Mick Jagger DESTROYED THAT GIRL...
You seriously need to stop spamming your lies all over youtube's comment sections. He didn't do anything to her, she said it herself.
Oh, I thought it was heroin.
Concordo pienamente! E per puro miracolo non ha fatto la fine di Brian.....
mulher linda essa!
Get well soon!😷💓❤
soo beautiful envolvent woman!
Erano ancora tempi bellissimi il mondo stava per cambiare con l'inizio degli anni settanta tutto è cambiato la società si è imbruttita è diventata violenta
Love Marianne. My ADD read it as “Something Bitter.” She could effortlessly do that justice, too.
❤️❤️❤️🌌
😍
An angel singing!!
The Rock N' Roll Circus happened right after Marianne miscarried her and Mick's child, so she was very fragile, and God only knows how upset she must have been. And she was high as shit too haha
...and Mick never forgave her losing the little girl baby - she fell off a stool.
@@nancyg7700 so sad
1:08-1:12 She's singing "the cherry plum madness" but online lyrics say "to tear up the madness"
