Dylan came across my Instagram feed a few weeks ago as an old college friend (Dylan's cousin funny enough) shared his video and then just overnight it blew up. Being viewed millions of times across platforms and I was sent the video by my girlfriend, friends, and many others to try to get him on this channel.
I was headed down to Central Texas for a wedding and luckily, Dylan's family lake house was a short 15-minute detour to shoot this video. We battled the wind, bright sun & wasps to make this one happen, hope yall enjoy it.

Use of cursing and bad words have zero correlation or relation to somerhing being considered art or quality of that art . I'm atheist so i could suggest that all the references in the song to "god" and religion brings the quality of the art down but i don't feel that way .
Felt the song. The trouble is opening your heart and when someone leaves that void is there. You open yourself up after healing, fall in love. Troubles that can't be avoided or are too great to arise to. Fall apart. Heal. Start again.
All the while holding on the good memories from the past and what could have been for them and you. Baggage that should be thrown out but it stays around. It's nice to have all the warm memories but you can be hallucinating almost like dying to the cold.
It's super painful to heat back up, but if you wish to live you gotta heal, mentally cleanse and move on.
Anyhow I obviously loved the song. Keep on keeping on brother. Love you for being a heart surgeon. ❤

I first heard of Dylan Gossett trough a small video clip that appeared on my Instagram. It was some guy doing a cover of this song. I immediately liked it and decided to look up Gossett to see if he made other songs that were great like Coal. I was really happy when I heard all of them and realized that I actually loved many of his songs. My favorites so far are "beneath Oak Tree" and "No Better Time". Can't wait to see what he will do in the future! Lot's of potential here!

stumbled upon this song on my weekly mix on Spotify yesterday and honestly, the line "they say preassure makes diamonds, how the hell am I still coal?" hit me like a train when I first heared it. I failed my final exams for my job training this year and ever since then I got preassured from my parents and teachers alike, making me feel like shit (without wanting to I am certain). The last couple of days I had another streak of days, where I just felt beaten, down... like coal I guess... I actually do feel a bit better today then I did recently though, so there's that ig... and to get back to the music: I love this song a lot!

That and the fact his live singing voice is just naturally very good , sound engineers probably have little work to do . The guitar is stupid simple and requires little skill but his poetry and voice are really good

This song hit me really hard, I listened to it probably 35 times today. Been sober for a year and a few months, stuck at home waiting on a surgery that keeps being delayed, and my anxiety and depression have been out of control... this song perfectly encapsulates how I feel. The lyrics are incredible, and to think it was written in 15 minutes is surprising. The songs out for only a few months, and already it's having a profound effect on people. I only wonder what your first verse was fully about, it sounds as though it's in memory of someone?
