  • The Can am Outlander Max 650 DPS is one of the best platforms in the industry. With a comfortable 2 up seat you can bring a partner and the rear rack still allows for a decent amount of storage with the large box for touring. The LinQ system offers tons of options to outfit this ATV for hunting, fishing or trail riding and the Scout is designed with this in mind and can be transformed from a full expedition ATV to a stripped down trail machine in under 10 minutes.

    Love the build…..personally would have gone with at least an 850. I decided to get the inreach mini 2 because i use a couple of different units….the Rino for mountain sledding and Tread for SXS. Also, with inreach built in you sacrifice GPS system coverage/accuracy, but I do understand the convenience of all in one. Thanks for some of the product tips….I did not know about the Glue Tread!! My son just bought the 1000 XMR, .which is a totally off the chain machine, but so is the price……but I like the 13 inch clearance, the snorkel kit, ability to support larger tires, and the power is there if you need it. The front and rear lockers are a must in my view…..makes all the difference in snow and mud. My Defender XMR rarely gets stuck with the lockers engaged. I do miss the ATV like a lot of your commenters have stated, but we often have 3 onboard and go back country camping, so sxs is necessary or would be dishing out a lot more money for a couple ATV’s. I bought my sxs in 2020 before prices when through the roof, so lucky that way.

      Norman,
      Thanks you watching! We don’t have any new footage of the bike but it has been hitting the trails recreationally and commercially and we are super happy with the build.
      As for the Elka shocks they are game changer on this platform. When we built this bike we but together two others that are identical with the exception of the Elka shocks and Method Wheels.
      We use all the machines as instructor bikes for military and law enforcement off road driver training and my partners don’t even want to ride my bike because they hate getting back on theirs with the factory shocks.
      The machine is really planted and predicable in all trail conditions but really shines as the speeds increase and the terrain gets gnarly.
      Good luck on your search for a 650 MAX, you won’t t be disappointed🇨🇦

I didn’t see or hear anything regarding the rears but as I’m plotting out my own Max build I would love the input on control arms! In your experiences with s3 have you had them install new bushings or have you had good luck reusing the stock?

    How long can you ride an ATV non-stop, for example, can you ride 30 miles without stopping. I want to buy one.Anyone answer me. Thanks ,,,one more question,,,Which ATV makes the least noise

    • @terratechoffroad9665
      @terratechoffroad9665 Před rokem +1

      The length of the ride depends on the terrain. You can ride all day on a hard packed dirt road and feel pretty good, then we have a trail we use for training and it is physically draining because of the rocky technical terrain. Speeds very between a crawl in the rocks to a whopping 15kms and hour in the “open” sections.
      As for sound most 4 stroke ATV’s equipped with a stock exhaust are pretty quite.

Can am makes a basket with the mesh style and would be a good idea if can am used the mesh sides on this rack extender as well. Im using bungee cords for now.

    • @terratechoffroad9665
      @terratechoffroad9665 Před 5 měsíci

      I have never run a windshield on any of my builds due to the terrain we ride, so yes you have to dress accordingly in the winter months.
      I always wear a balaclava to protect my neck and for long rides or really cold days switch my helmet out for a full face set up with a shield.
      The hand guards and heated grips are worth their weight in gold when the weather turns sour. They provide a level of protection and warmth but don’t prevent us from riding technical terrain that would damage a full fairing setup.
      Thanks for watching!

    Very nice ATV, I really like the soft recovery gear, I loved the video and enjoyed watching, but it is the dream build when money is no object. I do find that this channel is basically a platform to sell OEM products, you basically discredit the aftermarket products, but a lot of people (most actually) can't afford these things. I did enjoy this video and you showcase a lot of great ideas, but when you say $200 for a mount is not much money, I can't agree, yes you can use your snow mobile gear, but again if you can afford all that gear for your snow mobile you agree not concerned with $$$$,

    What was the performance with the 30's on there?

    • @terratechoffroad9665
      @terratechoffroad9665 Před 5 měsíci

      I absolutely love the 30’s on this platform paired with the S3 +2 A-arms.
      For an everyday work / adventure machine it has the perfect stance and the added ground clearance is awesome on the Max chassis and really helps with obstacles and deep ruts.
      The power / speed is very close to stock when paired with the Dalton Spring Kit.
      The tires are considerably larger and heavier than stock so some type of clutch upgrade is required for not only performance but reliability.
      Right away the tire swap from the factory 26’s to the 30’s gives you an extra 2 inches of clearance under the bike and this is really noticeable on the front skid plate as it takes very few hits.
      While I am a fan of modifying as budget allows a set up like this should be saved up for and done all at once so that you are happy with the performance and reliability of the upgrade.
      Cheers and thanks for watching 👊

      Thanks for the feedback Mike. We always leave the stock clutching alone if we stay within 2 inches of the stock tire size on the new set up. When we go larger than that we address the increased diameter and weight of the package with clutch modifications or replacement. As for the Dalton set up on this rig we are really satisfied with the results. We have built 3 of these machines now with the spring mod and they engage and provide the same power delivery as the stock machine which is pretty impressive on 30’s. 🇨🇦

      Matt,
      Yes, the tires are expensive but as they say you get what you pay for.
      I have had a rim failure with these tires and had to run 20 miles out of the bush on a very rocky technical trail with a baseball size hole in the inside face of the rim.
      The tire was unscathed and was remounted on a new rim and is still being used as a primary tire. There aren’t many tires I would feel comfortable doing that with.
      The $600 price you quote seems expensive? Not sure if that’s CDN or USD but a quick search shows them listed for $345 USD which would convert to $466 CDN.
      The tires on the CDN Can-am site run between $300-$450 each so they aren’t far off of a factory replacement.

      Depends where you live I suppose?
      The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) definition - A all-terrain vehicle (ATV), also known as a light utility vehicle (LUV), a quad bike or quad (if having four wheels), is a vehicle that travels on low-pressure tires, has a seat that is straddled by the operator, and has handlebars.
      Different parts of the world use different terms to describe the same machine such as a Lorry in England is a Transport Truck in North America.
      We live in Canada and the term “bike” is freely used to refer to an ATV but we also call a Hero or Hoagie Sandwich a Sub, a case of beer is a 24 and if we are going riding it’s commonly referred to as “going out for a rip”. 🇨🇦
