I think a lot of bicycle infrastructure is designed by people who aren't cyclists....
There are MANY examples of this on the NYC bike lanes.
People who design infrastructure should be forced to use all methods of transportation so they know how to design better.
Basically every bike infrastructure ALL OVER THE WORLD are bad designed. Sometimes I think that are made just for make some cyclist happy without thinking about how it will be used. I ride every day and I’d like to do it following the rules and without annoying other people, but it’s impossible in my town (Turin, Italy)..
@@lorenzozunino555 Amsterdam is a great example of good bike lanes. The roads there have three different elevations: lowest for cars, above that bikes, and the highest elevation is for pedestrians. I road a bike for hours around the city with no issues.
@@SpongeCS and people know that and don't fuck up. I've seen video of cyclists in Amsterdam and they're not stopping if you're in their way.
For anyone wondering, and I know that this will sound impossible, but they actually fixed it!
Glad man, thanks

@Thunderbolt I also would love if you used proper punctuation.
Im typing because i watched similar video from my country today but totally different comment, one was asking in the comments if anybody knows if the problem on the road is already fixed and someone answered him: dont be a pussy asking in the comments, i went and saw it myself but wont give you free information like that, go see it yourself

We need to fight back for our basic freedoms. This is ridiculous.

“The police officer was such a gentleman”
The clip at the very end tells a different story...
yeah lol, I thought the exact same thing. After the clip at the end played i was like "hmm, well i don't think that was too polite". I mean the cop definitely wasn't being out right rude, like i understand were he was coming from. But at the same time he had a lot of anger and frustration in his voice, and it was very clear Casey was just trying to speak to the guy nicely and explain his side. The cop honestly didn't even sound like he was really listening to what Casey had to say.
We saw a very short snippet of the conversation and I think it’s entirely possible Casey could have been upset at first which made the cop upset. It’s hard to say for sure, but Casey does have control or which part to show.
that is a good point, we are only seeing part of the conversation, so i guess i can't say for sure
Well, the cop did seem upset but it's pointless to make suggestions to him or argue with him as he has no control over how the intersection is set up, he is only tasked with enforcing the laws. Kind of like arguing with the clerk at a store about their prices. Neither can do anything about your complaint.
He isn't there to dispute about the rails. Hos job is to enforce rules. Not fix issues with bike paths. Go to the city council meeting etc if you want something like that fixed. He doesn't care why you broke the law. He just knows you did.
Cop on a horse says to little girl on a bike, “Did Santa get you that?”
“Yes” replied the little girl.
“Well tell him to put a reflector on it next year!” And fines her $5.
The little girl looks up at the cop and says, “Nice horse you got there, did Santa bring you that?”
The cop chuckles and replies, “He sure did!”
“Well” says the little girl, Next year tell Santa that the dick goes under the horse, not on top of it”.
Ooooo nice one😂
🤣🤣🤣
Finish him!!!!
Fatality!
that was soooooooo funny
Dude I'm from the Netherlands and I'm cringing so hard at this
You guys have the best bike roads.
I wish the US treated other forms of transportation seriously.
Especially now with these inflated car prices. A used car in my state is about $4-5000 more than it used to be last year.
In the Netherlands your government treats cars as secondarily to bikes I understand 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.
There is zero reason why that bench should be there. Noone sits there. That wall shouldn't be there. poor design.
Taco Stacks I was thinking the same thing.
Surprised nobody got seriously injured yet.
Either whoever designed it this way just straight up didn't think about it or it was purposely designed this way as a trap to ticket cyclists
Taco Stacks That wall is there to prevent cars from going up there and killing cyclist. Its a terrorist prevention thing they have them everywhere now.
More than likely it's there to prevent cars from trying to get on that part of the bridge
The cop sure didn’t sound like a gentleman
Thrive With Alex in nyc it’s considered gentleman. Lol yes I am aware how shitty that is
Thrive With Alex hello 👋 how can I find you on Facebook? I'm Russian and I need some foreigners for a practice of my English

Sounds like your usual piece of shit cop who thinks he's above everyone
Well he probably has that tone because he's also explaining it to a bunch of angry cyclists who aren't being nice
As someone who almost got run over today because of the lack of bike lanes and crazy drivers who think they can cut me off on a really badly made intersection. I completely agree with this. And this wasn't in NYC, this was in a suburban neighborhood not far from the city.
Just put a “yield for oncoming cyclists” sign down.

Casey, this is exactly why I got out of the traffic division. Although it's rewarding to take DUI subjects off the street, I can still do that as a patrol officer and not have the headache of some jackass Sergeant asking me why I only had two tickets for the day. I couldn't write BS tickets. Two years was enough for me. I personally think we (police) have much bigger fish to fry than a bicycle ticket.
yup
officer401 beautifully said
Except when a cyclist (or skateboard rider or car driver) jumps a red light, causing someone to swerve and hit an innocent bystander. Not specific to the example in this video but it's entirely possible along with many other chain of events. Surely as an officer you can see how a small infraction can cause serious consequences potentially killing someone. It's only a minor offence right so who cares? Well tell that to the families who's loved ones have been killed by a driver not paying attention for what is a BS ticket by your standards. Still got bigger fish to fry? Same applies to using a mobile phone while driving.
Some offences are created to generate income for a city, police are rewarded for tickets brought in, not for doing right by the public that day.
I can give you an example from where I live in Germany at the moment, I do street performing and they recently banned amplifiers, now people will get tickets for using an amp for a singer yet there is no punishment for the drummers down the street playing nearly twice the volume. What it does do it provide the police an extra way to increase revenue and profit from it but what it isn't is "fair"
I know some officers like the guy commenting here who let me off, he is a fair cop but sadly he is one of the very few.
It's funny to see officer401 comment on another of my favorite video makers. Long live Casey and officer401 👍👍

The New Travel Except he's wrong on this one and just coming across as a self entitled whiner. He got a ticket trying to go the wrong way down a one-way cycle lane which he carefully ignores, instead saying everyone else is doing it. The first Bike Lanes vid was spot on, this one is bullshit.
"The Laws aren't as clear as a red and green light". LOL what more do you need then 2 signs, the size of stop signs that say "WRONG WAY" in big bold letters. I agree, nothing worse then cyclists or drivers that think the law doesn't matter because they don't think it's a good law. Other than complaining about it on youtube, what's he done about it?
It's made that way on purpose to generate revenue for the city.

what ethical standards? have you ever heard of an op-doc?
I'm so confused. Where do you go if you need to go straight? You have to go left or right and go down a block?
Yeah that was my problem
yep, you need to cross traffic twice
much safer
I'm thankful that in my country we have freedom 🙏🏼
With better design, it still possible to go straight. Its all about efficiency. Like how a highway don't have too many left and right turn and only have 1 exit/entrance for each suburb, its to keep the flow going smoothly. Tho from the start, having a point where car, bike and people crossing path with each other in an already high traffic area is already dangerous in itself. It was before/after the big bridge afterall.
@@gezak4778 freedumb*
Land of the free 😂😂😂 A non-motorized vehicle who is basically a fast moving pedestrian being ticketed. 🤦♂️
Ouff, it’s very similar in Frankfurt - the flow during cycling is broken way too often, no dedicated traffic lights for cyclists and stuff. You see the sheer amount of cyclists with racing bikes? That’s the audience who really wants it. But if you really want to drive large scale adoption of cycling, you need infrastructure like here in The Netherlands. Here it is safe to bike for everyone, thus you see everyone on the street on their transport bikes, bikes with children in the front, grandmas with ebikes etc. Of course it may be a higher investment to make but if you after all win more users for the system, that’s a win. And I guess, the US health system would benefit from it.
To fix this problem just look the other way and reverse through the lane.
and
VOILA!
A "gentleman" will let you finish a sentence.
Casey was just being too nice
Very clever putting the original ticketing footage at the end. It gives viewers a whole different picture of the situation just based on the tone.
John Basedow That's basically NY cops
yes got a very different image of caseys explanation of the situation and then of the end clip
Very true
MightyDantheman MC: He doesn't have to let people explain themselves. Explaining and judging is done in the court room. The LEO's job is enforcing the law, the only explaining they need to hear is whether or not a law exists and/or applies.
good thing he was cleaning up the streets by stopping these vicious criminals committing real and dangerous crimes. They should just drive cars instead of riding their bikes. How irresponsible of them.
Could stop actual criminals, nah i'll just harass some cyclists.
It has actually been fixet. Look at google maps street view 2019.

In Ireland 🇮🇪, you can't even get a ticket for anything
That's such a trap. It's almost like it WAS a two lane cycle path, and then they got rid of it to generate revenue.
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by incompetence.
When you have over 2,000 cyclists on a daily basis going through there it does sound like they want to generate easy money with tickets sadly..
Then the cops wonder why we can hate them
That’s exactly what they did...

Casey kept saying that the NYPD he talked to was really nice, but when I watched the clip at end of the video he sounded really spicy and talked with a lot of attitude.
Exactly what I thought.
Monique Cash like most pigs in NYC
Right? Sounds like a douche tbh
That's because you can not have a normal conversation with a NYC police officer. Immediately he felt threatened and was fumbling over his words due to agitation. I wouldn't attempt even eye contact with a cop. Casey seemed cool and calm and the cop was having like an argument with some ghost in his mind.
standards for nice are real low here. the cop was trying to justify his actions, he knew he was in the wrong and felt threatened so started getting edgy.
I used to live on Kent Ave (waterfront Williamsburg, 2017-2020) and rode my bike everyday to work over the Williamsburg bridge. Those signs always annoyed the shit out of me and I'd blow right past them coming down the bridge. The situation has been fixed now and I attribute that to Mr. Neistat and this informative video!
The fact that bridge exit is in the middle of the road is a mayor design mistake. .
That police officer didn’t sound like a respectful gentleman lol
95% of them ain't, this is AMURICA!

Those arrows on road do not actually point the direction of traffic. They are called sharks' teeth. If they point towards you, you have to yield! They are very common in Europe, especially in the Netherlands where it makes cycling super safe!
Even America isn't as sophisticated as Europe.
Hotrats76 actually they’re fairly common around here however, many americans don’t know the true meaning behind it bc it really isn’t taught during drivers ed
Stop using super to explain things.
Max Levy Well that's very dumb in my opinion. Yielding is a big part of driving. Hope they'll realise this and start teaching this. In Sweden where I live, yielding is very strict rule, and it should be.
A yield would still allow the traffic to go that direction, just so long as they make sure no one else is coming the other direction. According to the city, though, no cyclists are allowed to go that direction, so they are still contradicting the sign.
The step down only seems to make sense for a bike coming off this platform. I wouldn't particularly want to ride a basic city bike up that sloped step, though I guess I'd do it anyway if I had no other option. Also, those arrows on the pavement are kind of counterintuitive, the direction they point is the direction traffic flow comes from, I see these on Dutch streets on Google street view. So when looking straight ahead, if the arrow points towards you, you should be in that lane. If they're pointing away from you, you're in oncoming traffic. A comment here from two years ago says that this issue is fixed, so I guess I have some street view to look at.
I have had two experiences with police officers while cycling. Both times they told me they should’ve ticketed me, but didn’t want to. And told me what I was doing wrong and why it was illegal.
I think that this is very smart. Its just as effective to prevent traffic accidents, but it gives people trust in police officers and the fact that they’re there to make the place better and safer.
Loved the aerial footage of the bike lane though. It looked cool from above haha
Romina i was thinking the same thing!

The arrows on the ground mean "yield".
They are also used in Georgia and South Carolina.
A bit late to the conversation, but I feel like the fact that a bike making a minor traffic violation is magnitudes less problematic then a car doing the same is not understood by most Americans. Cause minor traffic violations don't harm anyone in 99% of cases. The point is that with a car that 1% most likely means hospitalization or death. With bikes on the other hand it's probably going to be a scrape or absolute worst case scenario a broken bone.
Thus I personally believe that fining of cyclists should be a much rarer occurance, only happening when serious traffic violations are made. Oh and clear infrastructure is a must obv.
Thank you! Finally a comment from someone with a brain!
Way to be mature about this Casey. Rather than just hating on the cops, you've looked at the real issue and offered a solution. Nice job.
Why not both?
Idk how he was so calm because they didn't listen to him last time
i mean the uniformeds don’t have anything to do with this. if they sent two guys to break that wall, move that bench and the flower pots it would cost a lot less than having a patrol unit posted there as many times as they do. but they probably leave it there so they can continue to ticket citizens and leave that narrow opening there, endangering both cyclists and pedestrians.
How fuckin' low is the bar you expect? Maybe that's the issue. Congratulating cassie for being an adult.... smdh.
Kudos Casey... you handled this in a super professional and reasonable manner. A lot of people would have just verbally assaulted the cop, who probably gets screamed at all day for following the directives the city imposes on him. He can’t change the situation, but maybe enough people will see this video to help spark a change at the city planning level.
R Kaplan Casey Neistat vs the state of New York

R Kaplan I mean, addressing the issue of poor traffic egress isnt a very difficult task. All the while, he did pull another 2mil(give or take) views from many people who will never be affected by NYC cycling routes, so of course he dealt with it in a calm and collected manner.

mcc4m1sh I agree. That cop made that story up.
Outstanding point.
Yung Wafer Yeah that’s the point lol.
Not only do they need to make a second lane but they need to get rid of those barricades as well. As a cyclist, every little bit of obstacle on the road can is like trying to dodge a flying brick when going at high speeds. NYC is a scary place to ride a bike and I 100% agree with you that the city needs to start consider improving its infrastructure instead of going after cyclists. 🚴
Well that's the point of the obstacle: going more slowly. High speed is dangerous!
the barricade is actually for the cyclist safety. it makes so a vehicle cant go down it and run over everyone. 2. its supposed to make you slow down.
and pedestrian safety. its so selfish for Casey to look at this one point and think the right thing is for him to have priority riding at speed while wearing headphones.
Then lower your speed. Its that simple.
Randall Dietel that’s not the problem, the problem is having traffic legally only going one way when it should be going both ways.
How hard is it to make another path going straight like Casey was suggesting? I don't even live in NYC and it infuriates me that they don't do that
They need to ticket enough cyclists to be able to afford the paint to paint a new bike lane obviously.
City: let's encourage other methods of transportation.
Also city: let's give out tickets for taking a safer route
Clearly safe when cyclists hit kids walking through the correct direction.
Pickle Rick Yeah it is, a hell of a lot safer than driving into traffic and flying through red lights like the cop said... A single incident of people not seeing each other doesn't make it not safe
Both of those scenarios you just said are the cyclist's decision. They could follow the law, like they're supposed to, and not have any problems. There's nothing that says the cyclists have to run red lights or cross the street when they don't have the right of way.
Pickle Rick All I'm saying is I would much rather go straight than go into traffic... And as you can see, so do a large majority of bikers
Sam that’s fine, I’m sure it’s easier and safer, but if it’s against the rules then don’t complain when you get caught. (Like Casey) 🤷🏻♂️

@@Robbythegod we really don't have shootings that often, the US is really, really big and individual states are more comparable to multiple European countries the the whole US to just 1 European country. Most crime statistics for US gun-related crime include ALL gun related homicides, including gang violence and suicide with a handgun. They're not really that accurate. There are cities to steer clear of, like Chicago, because they really do see an insane amount of crime (coming from someone who's from that area), but really it's not as bad as media makes it out to be. Also, this cop could only be described as polite in NYC, nobody I know would consider that polite. As a bicyclist, I can understand. And I don't even live in New York City. However police are only just there to simply enforce the laws there. Not make them. It's the city department of parks/recreation and public works you need to address the problem to. Or just contact the NYC council.
Well the yield arrows on the ground definitely suggest that is one way from the opposite direction from the bridge, but it's still bs
When it gets to bikes and Casey, shit gets real.
It would make me happy to see this issue fixed as a result of this video. There are things like this everywhere and it often feels like there's little that we can do
This one video and years of debate over this issue in City Hall. I see it as a revenue maker for this city having the current design!
SDG Danny I agree!!!
You can try to write a letter to the town mayor and maybe he will see the problem too.
Learn your fundamental human rights instead of consenting to the allowed privileges of a PERSONS.
*That is what you can do*
Or simply don't go through it .
if pedestrians are crossing, i don't think it's safe to go straight. The flow of traffic is directed towards the bridge because those people won't be going as fast as people going down the bridge with momentum. Hence, it's easier for cyclists who are going towards the bridge to stop for pedestrians crossing. Additionally, it's not really a straight path because you gotta swerve to the left in order to go through the gap.
Also what happens if there are cyclists biking towards the bridge through the gap while someone coming off the bridge is going through the same gap? Wouldn't there be a collision? But yea the white arrows pointing towards the gap and wrong way sign are messed up.
So many years and your still backing up cycling I respect that

You guys at least have bike Lanes. You have to race against cars and motor bikes to ride where I live.
uh, one point about the "this looks like traffic is supposed to go in this direction" thing.
That's a no right of way sign. Is that not common in the US? It means that people coming into the pointy end of the sign do not have right of way. It's totally standard in Europe.
Not much thought went into that intersection for bikes, but they did put two wrong way signs. I don't enter the off-ramp to get onto the freeway. It might be "intuitive" to go straight, but at the end of the day, you did in fact disobey the traffic signs, which is technically against the law. I'm glad they fixed it
Buy a helmet and safety vest, demount the sign 😁. No more tickets.
Hahahah that what I thought too. Can even buy make a hole in the concret wall too
@Frank Godley ok
Yes. There are times were it’s best to walk the bike. A good tip is to get in the habit of walking the bike with the chain side facing you. It might save you from being sued for ruining a passerby’s suit or dress. Sorry you had to go through that. You did handle the situation perfectly. The local congressman or city councilman would be the best person to go to for fixing that traffic hazard.

Hard hat. I did that and got a shovel and made a dirt ramp off the bike path so you could just ride under the bridge instead of having to go over and cross through traffic.
I love it when Casey makes this kind of videos where is presenting a solution to a daily life problem. :)
Keep up the good work mate
Agreed !
Tem Production Mate, you obviously don't live in NYC....Casey said it would take 4 hours of video to get a point across. Hopefully one of NYPD friends can help a bro out.
Here is my opinion on this..
The youtuber makes a valid point.. they should open up a passage for bikes coming down from the bridge. Its the obvious best solution for both safety and convenience to pedestrian and cyclists. Unfortunately Pedestrian got injured so cops have to intervene and shkw awareness
2) To be honest big majority cyclists don't follow the traffic rules. I see this everyday and don't get me started with the E bikes. If you sit on a busy corner and watch cyclists pass you will see all the violations. They hardly ever stop at red lights. Some of these unfortunate cyclist death are also contributed to their own riding habits. Drivers, Pedestrian, cyclists, (E-bikes 😡) all have to do their part to assure the safety and rules of the road.
Agree they should remove some car lanes for bike lanes and separate the road for different type of transportation. It's so wasteful to give so much room for cars, when there is plenty of room for a lot of bike lanes and pedestrian roads
Casey was so nice and come even when that cop was yelling for no reason.👏👏
Bike lanes part 2. This is great!
Part 1 was way better. Now i understand; better camera - less creativity.
I understand everything except for..
*WHY ARE THERE ARROWS ON THE GROUND TELLING YOU TO GO INTO THAT DIRECTION!?!?!*
yup, the arrow is kinda misleading and the wrong way sign just doesn't make sense. Cyclist not obeying the traffic rules must suffer their actions. And why is there a block of concrete in the middle of the road blocking everything?
Entrapment!
The "arrows" mean something else in the netherlands. They're called haaientanden (shark teeth) and they mean that you should stop for people coming from your left or right. Because there was a walkway right in front of the arrows I'm guessing they mean the same thing
the arros mean the pedestrians have the priority
it's a bait
4:59 "awadawada youre gunna 100 dollars, fthis!" 😂😂😂
Thanks god here in Melbourne, Australia the bike lanes are awesome and it’s improving every day. Well done Casey, I’m glad they fix that stupid wall 👌
great video, my friend Mike got ticketed in the exact same spot
Hi Erik
I'm sure you are a recognized person all around NYC, Casey. Cops are trained to recognize people. You have to deal with NYPD cops.
Let me say, this cop DID NOT sound like a "nice guy"
He sounded confrontational, aggravated and agitated
He was clearly NOT de-escalating the encounter
He brought up an injured pedestrian (unfounded)
He brought up his animosity toward cyclists
He accused YOU - by proxy - of disobeying traffic signals
He challenged you at one point to show him a sign somewhere
He seemed to be baiting YOU into a more strenuous confrontation
You didn't take the bait
I am dubious of cops intentions whenever I am forced to interact with them for these reasons above
One of the many reasons I think we'd be better off replacing human cops with robots in the future. They'd think more clearly.
I think you're judging an encounter that was 15+ minutes based on 20 seconds of footage.
Eveyone - who wants to - should get the opportunity to spend a day doing a cop's job (enforcing the law).
Its a no win situation because most of your encounters will be with people who are breaking the law and want to give you their reason for doing so, when instead they should be directing that information at the ones who have the power to relieve them of their obligation to follow the law, that is the Courts.
Its a job I wouldn't take on because its destined to frustrate one tremendously, just imagine having to listen to complaints about you doing your job all day long.
I could be completely wrong but from what I can tell US cops are complete dicks who seem to search for confrontation.
Thomas Rawlins, yes just like how all the french will surrender the moment they are threatened, and all germans are nazi's, and all russians are communists.
this was oneof the first bridges I biked I enjoy the BMW Brooklyn, Manhattan, Brooklyn Bridges I always thought the red framed bridge was Manhattan bridge
It's a ticket trap to bolster revenue. Doesn't look like it has anything to do with safety.
Good for Casey. Most rich dude would just brush off a little fine. I once got a ticket for a California stop at a stop sign and I was fined 250. Pretty much took all my food money for 2 weeks
Don't break the law?
how that breaking the law when on the ground there 3 arrow one way n a sign saying different omg.
David when did I ever say that? I just said rolling through a stop sign doesn't warrant a $250 fine. You're telling me if you're at a backroads intersection with nobody around, you MUST come to a clear and concise stop to protect yourself from...trees?
i feel bad for you, but stop at the stop signs for everyone’s safety please
啊啊啊 lol it was 5am in an empty lot but okay lol
That police officer doesn't sound respectful.
ODB He's got several people around him yelling at him for enforcing a law he didn't write. A lot of police return the attitude they receive. He's not responsible for the law. If you don't like it then argue with the people who wrote it, not the guy expected to enforce it.
It’s New York everyone’s a dick
He's human, trying to deal with (I'm sure he realizes) for the most part a poorly designed bike/pedestrian intersection. He drew the short straw this particular day and has my sympathy
ODB nope.. he's a piece of living shit ticketing people to pay for his salary
fasfan 🖕🏻🖕🏽🖕🏿
As One Fellow In the Comment Section asked
*Why is everyone getting Casys Old Videos recommendation?*
Me:Thats the power of Unsolvable CZcams Algorithm.
Just wanted to say that I loved this video! Such a deep dive on a simple thing, but enjoyable to watch the whole way through! Also thanks for bringing light to the often times crappy infrastructure that cyclists have to deal with in cities.
car driver have crappy infrastructure yet we still follow the law
The cop at the end was very aggressive. Sorry you had to deal with that!
Edit: NYC is my second home. I’m well aware of the talking patterns. That’s not what I meant by aggressive. I just meant that he wouldn’t let him talk. I understand why he would be like that though. He was dealing with a group of excitable people. I’m not saying it was bad. I’m just saying it makes for an uncomfortable situation that I wouldn’t want to find myself in. 😅
Imagine when you do something actually bad, HA!
yeah i thought so too. so much for him being a gentleman like Casey said...perhaps the clip we heard wasn't representative of the whole convo :/
Romina not really he was just frustrated aggression wow of Been a lot worst
He wasn’t. That’s how New Yorkers speak.
Welcome to New York. That's polite.
Hey Casey, im from the Netherlands where as you know many people ride bikes. The problem with this intersection is that you have way to much speed coming down the bridge. With that you could hurt people on the zebra path. In holland they often resolve this problem with a simple zig zag in front of the zebra path.
I hope this was helpful. Keep up the good work 😊😊
max mäkel I've never heard of anything like this and it sounds like a really good idea. Bike lanes are a joke in my city.
I hope I can bicycling in Netherlands. Someday.
The hell with cycling in the Netherlands...I wanna fuck a whore there, lol...
o hoi nederland is wel goeie
YOUR COUNTRY IS THE LEADER IN THIS DOMAIN
Sounds a lot like the design problem with speed limits. Some streets are designed in such a way that it makes people feel they can go a faster speed. Either design the street to be slower or increase the speed limit.
it is a money trap dude. just simply money. They knew the flaw but surely enough it generates money. Many people would argue but intuitively the design must be a constant flow fluidly that you don't need to rethink what you suppose to do. For example the road designs in the US, you are in a 3 lane, and the outer lane becomes a right turn only at the next stop. it's alright if u live there but if you're new then you'll be forced to reroute, and people usually just try to reenter the left lane.. it is a public hazard, the fix is simple but because the infrastructure has been built, they don't want to fix it rather put traffic laws that confuse people. You have been to Dubai, UAE. I hope you noticed how fluid their highway, road, and streets are eg: turning to the right has a designed paved road 50 meters before the stoplight. That is not just a brilliant design but a public safety design.
Haha this takes me back to the viral bike lanes video!😂😂
Leigha Lawrence Casey Neistat vs the state of New York
That video war super amazing though. Casey's virals always are
So if you want to cycle straight ahead, what route are you actually meant to take to be legal? Crossing traffic?
You are totally correct. Good idea showing the whole world this video. Authorities have their reasons but sometimes they don't know how to do things properly. Someone has to tell them.
My greetings from Spain.
Good job! Good for you !
To be fair, there is a metal barrier - designed in a curve - that leades BOTH directions of the bike path to the right. If you come down the bridge ON the bike path (as opposed to the pedestrian walkway), you have to swerve to the left to even be able to go straight ahead. This plus the double red "wrong way" signs are really as clear an indication as you can get, that you are NOT supposed to go there. I'm with you on a lot of bike infrastructure being poorly planned and/or executed, but the "that's counterintuitive" argument really doesn't work here - there is a metal barrier leading you off to the right, that you have to AVOID to go straight. Maybe the city could paint the barrier?
(Oh and these "arrows" on the ground are clearly give-way marks just like they are painted, like, everywhere. Every 4-way stop has these, they should be well known...)
Loved the “I ain’t mad at cha” (2Pac!) at the end! (Who caught it too?).
Ronald Logrono “Who catch it too?” What? It wasn’t anything to catch, it was obvious.
Caught*
At first I was two-tired to watch this video, but I’m glad I did because I wheelie liked it.
(And the worst comment of all time award goes to....)
Good enough for Casey
conkerlive101 haha surprising but I’ll take it! 😂🙏🏼
Liam Pineiro I guessed Casey handled your joke pretty well
Good puns
Taha Silat appreciate that! 🙏🏼
Such a ludicrous rule! NYC, make another opening for the other direction for bikes as Casey has suggested!
I wonder if they actually adjusted the bike path after this video?!?
They did.
They probably adjusted more cops to that area. 😂
