    This song is probably my favourite from XC, not only because it's just downright badass but it catches you completely off-guard in game. At about the halfway mark through the game (so a couple dozen hours of playtime) you reach a brand new area, you get into battle with a basic enemy and suddenly you are bombarded by this absolute onslaught of a track for the first time. Nobody is ever prepared for the sudden change in battle music let alone getting something this heavy for basic trash mobs.

    I'd highly suggest "Engage the Enemy", "You Will Know Our Names" or "An Obstacle in Our Path" - all from Xenoblade Definitive Edition. The series has many composers but the ones who worked on Mechanical Rhythm and the songs I just mentioned are a three person team (two men and one woman) called ACE+. They handle a good chunk of the intense guitar heavy / electronic stuff across Xenoblade 1 and 2. Masters of their craft without a doubt.

      Eh, I would personally recommend to listen to the Wii version of You Will Know Our Names and Engage the Enemy. • @AlexBowesVideos
      @AlexBowesVideos Před 2 lety +2

      WHY DO PEOPLE NOT LIKE DE ETE. I heard the DE ETE first and i believe it is the better version. Vocals are far more amzing in that if that's the issue with you guys. The guitar goes, in my terms, less 'risky' (tendency to not hit the higher notes in peak guitar moments, like with the peak in YWKON remaster) in the solo at the start, which I understand could be worse than the crazy guitar solo in the original ETE. However, the accompanying synthesisers in that guitar solo in DE sound almost like an 80s ballad, an emotional goodbye. There's more comparisons to make but generally, except fot the less high pitched guitar solo I think the remastered ETE is slightly better than the original ETE. I have given my reasons

    • @fluffyeevee383

      @@AlexBowesVideos My main problem is that it just feel wrong. It's hard to explain to someone who didn't fall in love with the original version first, but it just sounds and feels wrong, not right. The vocals go way too hard and really just ruin my immersion every time I hear certain parts of the sing because of it.
      As for the rest of it, I can't really explain. It just feels off and wrong.

    This video was just in my recommended and it’s always good to see more people being impressed by Xenoblade Music. I am sure many here have recommended much themes but I as someone who played each game for over 400 hours I also want to tell you which theme I love.
    Xenoblade 1: Agniritha Capital ( a city with a own atmosphere…) , Bionis Shoulder (large green plains and interesting rock formations, it’s what you see on the cover) and Central Factory are the Overworld themes I remember the most and Fog Beast Battle is one of the newer themes from the remake that I fell in love with right from the start.
    Xenoblade X: Noctilum (a large rainforest continent), Oblivia (a desert continent that is covered with strange ruins) and Sylvalum Night version (a continent that I can’t quite describe… it’s otherworldly… well since it’s an alien planet and all… it’s white but all plants and other things start to glow green in the dark with a pink aurora borealis) are all overworld themes I love and NO.EX01 (yes strange name but it’s one of the best boss themes), Black Tar Skell Battle, Uncontrollable, Prog Ares Boss and The Key we’ve Lost are extremely good battle themes.
    Xenoblade 2: Yggdrasil (the World Tree, a ethereal place to most that bleeds into something unknown when you arrive), Tantal (a snow continent that has a really unusual theme for a snow region), Mor Ardain (the desert… but with trumpets) , Uraya (cool waterregion with glowing cherry trees and interesting music), Gormott (the typical startingforest of a game… but with one of the longest tracks I have ever heard) and the battle themes Counterattack, Battle Torna, Bringer of Chaos and Still Move Forward.

    I don't know much about Xenoblade X, but hear me out. There are some tracks in there that you just DESERVE to hear, alright ? They're awe-inspiring.
    As for my own recommendations... For Xenoblade 1 ( DE ), "Prologue B" and "Agniratha, Mechonis Capital". For Future Connected, "Time to Fight! (Bionis' Shoulder)" and "Fogbeast Battle". For Xenoblade 2, "Tantal/day", "Yggdrasil" and literally every single battle theme. Finally, for Torna - The Golden Country, there's the unavoidable "Battle!!/Torna".
    I sadly don't know the names of the amazing X tracks I've heard, and I don't wanna spoil myself looking for them but DANG they're gems.
    Also, if you decide to play Xenoblade, you are legally required to stay on the title screen to listen to its music. Not that you would be to help yourself doing it either way- it's positively beautiful.

    This was the *basic* battle theme of the second half of Xenoblade 1. I still remember the first time I encountered this song in the game and loved it so much I got in back-to-back fights so the music wouldn't stop and ended up grossly overleveled.

    Since Mechanical Rhythm is one of his favourite Xenoblade OST, someone definitely needs to request Ultimate Enemy from Xenoblade 3. (that's the actual name of the "Aionios' Strongest" theme)
    Especially since even if he played Xenoblade 3, he may miss this song, as it's a post game exclusive

      Well then listen to the Xenoblade X soundtrack. The OST of that game never made it into Ultimate… despite being a Wii U game which I never understood. Noctilum, Oblivia and Sylvalum Night are all overworld themes I love and NO.EX01 (yes strange name but it’s one of the best boss themes), Black Tar Skell Battle, Uncontrollable, Prog Ares Boss and The Key we’ve Lost are extremely good battle themes.

  • @Barriertriostruckapose
    @Barriertriostruckapose Před 2 lety +1

    He just nutted to this song lol
    This song plays as the battle theme for the second half of the game. For the first half, you're on a massive living creature, and the enemies are mostly animals and wildlife, but for the second half, you cross over to the neighboring mechanical titan, and everything's a killer robot that wants you dead. It's very much meant to throw you for a loop once you first hear it.
    This is also one of the songs I feel changed the most for the better in the rerelease; the original was great, but Definitive Edition just blows it out of the water

  • @KaroxNightshade
    @KaroxNightshade Před 2 lety +1

    To be honest, the best way to get into a game is through the music. I found MGR at the start of 2021 before the memes came rolling in through a remix of a track. Left me with the perfect mindset for the game itself. Music fits the games themes and if you go in because of a few tracks, you'll know what's going on, be in the right headspace, and it'll push you to get to the tracks, letting you push through the part you might otherwise just slog through. Slaving through your first Souls game in ER because you wanna get to Radahn when otherwise you'd just drop at Margit is definitely something that people have experienced.

    Damn I love this soundtrack so freakin much.
    I don't even know much about guitars (even tho I own one) - I just love music and playing a little bit of piano (on a pretty shitty level).
    But this soundtrack blews you so out of the house. It's just a BGM masterpiece.
    For your information - You asked if there is a different version to it - yes it kinda is.
    Xenoblade Chronicles came out on the late circle on the Nintendo Wii back in 2011 and it was already orchestrated back then but I can clearly call that it got a fresh overhaul when the Definitive Edition came out on the Switch.
    So you might fight the old version somewhere on youtube probably. It was already a banger back then tho. :D
    In terms of the question, when you ask if there is a better song in the game, then I can say yes for me. And that would be the Main Title Theme. It's like a huge orchestra with so much going on - it's my most loved Video Game Music of all time.
    A close second to that would be Zanza the Divine which is the Final Boss Theme and also packs a huge punch in your face, musically.

    Both Xenoblade games have this identity because of the music of ACE and Mitsuda. Mitsuda started it all with the original Xenogears, carrying over to Xenosaga and now with Xenoblade. I feel ACE is carrying his spirit through and why they work so well with him (he took the role of music director for Xenoblade 2 to tighten up the game's music identity through different composers). I can't wait for you to delve in through the series and the games Mitsuda and ACE are involved with.

    • @Skallva
      @Skallva Před 2 lety

      Mitsuda only composed the ending song for Xenoblade 1. Most of the credit for 1's OST should go to Mamami Kiyota, who's responsible for the large majority of area and cinematic music in that game, including the DE remasters of the Yoko Shimomura tracks in the beginning parts of the game.
      As for Xenosaga, Mitsuda only composed for Xenosaga: Episode I. And that game is kinda infamous for having almost no music during gameplay (barring the battle theme and the final boss theme) and only really surfacing in the cinematics. Saga's musical identity only really solidified itself once Yuki Kajiura joined the team in Episode II, so much so that she was tasked with composing the entirety of Episode III's OST on her own (she composed the cinematic music for Ep. II while the gameplay tracks were done by Shinji Hosoe).

    When playing Xenoblade Chronicles, only specific bosses normally get the heavy guitar treatment. But then you reach a pivotal turning point in the story, and after a change in scenery, you enter a new area.
    For the first few fights, "Mechanical Rhythm" hits like a goddamn truck! I generally love it when RPG's pull out the heavy rock/metal treatment, since it's the game genre you'd least expect to have headbangers!
    On that note, here's a recommendation: "Shadows of Death over there" from Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold, composed by Yuzo Koshiro. Some of the dirtiest groovy rock I've ever heard in an RPG, and completely out of left field!
