2001:A Space Odyssey-an alternate beginning

This is my edit of the opening of the movie starting just after the theme music ends.
The original uses hard cuts between shots and I thought it much more appropriate to use cross-fades to convey the sense of a long period of time. I made the cross-fades progressively shorter as we get closer to the start of the action.
The picture is in 4 x 3 aspect ratio as that is what was broadcast when I recorded it off TV. When did I record it? The year 2001 of course.
