Usually the Hr derby is counterproductive many players have said it really hampered their swings for the rest of the season.
Also like the extra 30 seconds for 440 plus is so arbitrary.
He shouldn't even be in the all star game. That's how bad his first half has been.
Yeah, if he can get pitchers to stand a couple of feet from the plate while tossing balls in at 10 mph

The most beautiful thing about the derby was that hug and that recognition between the two, Cubans and Dominicans... and all the other Latinos and North Americans, enjoying together and recognizing the value of each one for this show, and above all, everyone talking about the Babe Ruth of this era...Japanese Emperor Shoei Othani first.

Randy Arozarena almost got it, he was definitely the most consistent in all rounds, that 2nd round was fire for Randy 🔥🔥

What a great show! At first I thought Julio of the Mariners was going to eventually take the honours, especially after hitting the 41 HR's in the first round. But in the end, Vladdy had greater speed, greater distance, and greater stamina. But they were all exceptional sluggers. Wonderful competition and sportsmanship. Vladdy Sr. must be very proud!
This was the toughest year of sluggers Ive seen in a while. Plus you had 2 recent champions there and a runner up.
Even more impressive when you consider he went back to back rounds!

I like the old derby format, 10 swings only, and they actually used to let the baseballs travel and land before throwing the next pitch. You actually got to admire some of the shots these guys were hitting. Now you barely get to see where the ball goes.
Yea I tried to watch this but just couldn’t. It wasn’t no excitement. Basically we’re just watching them take batting practice lol. The 10 out format made it way more exciting. Julio 41 homers should’ve been way more exciting than it was but it just wasn’t to me

What's worse is they changed it to this joke format and dont enforce the rules. Supposed to not throw until previous ball landed,but nobody does. They're going so quick you cant even admire the actual home runs. Like every other change under Manfred, it's a joke!
I totally agree. This newer format is just not it for me. I had to go back and watch past derby's to make sure I was remembering correctly, and they were much more fun to watch. Also, the announcers were both just boring to listen to.

Pete had a bone bruise and something else wrong with him. Someone said before the derby they didn't think he would make it out of the first round. I was thinking Pete prior to that.

Ya the old way was 10 outs. Not time limit. A swing that wasn’t a homerun was an out.
It was better even with the timer when they enforced the rule that the ball had to land before throwing the next ball. The rapid-fire pitching and swinging has ruined the HRD.
