I can remember scouting a freshman all the way to his senior year, bringing him to my team (Illinois) then playing with him for 3yrs and he entered the draft.... The real bang of this story is I uploaded him on NBA 2k8 and at the end of my season Drafted him to my team again the Bulls! Played 16yrs with him.... I felt a real connection to have a guy since he was 14yrs old until he retired 😂😂😂 this game is EASILY the G.O.A.T

I remember scouting a 5 Star, 5”9, HS freshman from my home state (WA). I was fully invested in this recruit, I just had a feeling he was going to be a beast. I was hoping he’d get taller and become an All American. But by the time his senior year came around, he dropped down to a 3 star and he never grew any taller. I still gave him a full ride (University of Washington), where he would end up dropping BUCKETS on his opponents. Kind of reminds me of an Isaiah Thomas story. It’s like 2k8 knew! I had the time of my life. I’ll never forget.And that’s why this game is arguably the GOAT in sports videogames history.
I actually still play this. The fact that you can create a recruit WHILE in Legacy/Dynasty Mode is an absolute game changer. Little things like that separated it from EA's version imo.

Restored NE Illinois's basketball program and put them in the MVC. They won the regular season title four years in a row and went to the sweet 16 6 in a row.
Turned Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Boise State, Ohio and Sacramento State into mid level powers; Ohio even sprung a tourney upset on UNC.
Portland won a national title.
San Francisco made an Elite 8
DePaul won something like 74 games in a three year period but lost each time they made the Elite 8.
Northwestern started a rivalry with Duke.
Maine and New Hampshire became two of the best teams in the country.
And the funniest thing i can remember: Siena won 28 games and didn't make it out of the first day.

This game, combined with NBA 2K8 and the ability to import draft classes, made for God tier gaming, no hyperbole. You create a dynasty in college hoops, while creating a dynasty in NBA, while recruting the top players in the nation, while importing the draft classes to NBA, while stockpiling draft picks, while drafting your top players from your college dynasty that graduated or left early, as well as the other top players around college basketball, while winning national championships, while winning NBA championships, with players you won national championships with, and players that came so close to beating you.
I remember this game having an high school all-star game. And on the player icons it listed their names and the top three schools they had on their list. This game was awesome.
Facts. You could play entire summer AAU circuits and use that to recruit too. Game way WAYYYYYY ahead of it’s time.
Operation Sports still has people updating rosters. They're not perfect but I'd give them a 90%+ accuracy and its awesome to play with current players who's styles you know and are aware of.

It took a long time to win the Naismith trophy lol sometimes their would be players from the valley averaging like 35 a game with 15 rebounds lol I used to get so hyped ready for my seeding
This game was soooooooo fucking detailed. I'll never forget creating a freshman 5-star recruit and going after him HEAVY for years and then he signed with Oregon over me(Illinois). I remember you could play AAU(ABL) games in the offseason to play as recruits, it was crazy how much you could do. I took Illinois to 6 national championships in 15 years with multiple undefeated seasons haha. That game still is fun as hell to play till this day.
The legacy mode on this game is unrivaled. Can't wait til the day I'm able to play 2K hoops on the next gen

I always wonder how far the series would have come if it had made it to 2011-2012. I'd imagine there would be a big my player type mode with even more in depth customization and ofcourse improved graphics. After watching this, I might go ahead and start a career legacy on my next offday.
Couldn't agree more! My cousin knocked my 360 over and scratched my original disk. Took me forever to find it again, but definitely a valuable piece of my gaming collection.

The licensed presentation in 10 is fantastic. I love that you can pick between the CBS broadcast and ESPN broadcast. However, 2K8 does play much better.

Thank you for making this vid. This is my favorite sports game of all time. I still play things game and love it. I honestly think it is so cool to have a coaching career mode where you start at some bad school and have to work your way up to greatness. Also, the scouting, recruitment, and development of players was fantastic.

Honestly the most hyped I've ever been for a video. Haven't even watched it yet but I know this going to be nasty. I picked up CH2K8 on release back in 2007, and just played one of my legacy modes 3 hours ago. One of the most addicting games of all time back me up boys.

recruiting and playing in summer tourneys was so fun. rented recently from Gamefly and still had fun
I used to play career legacy and to try build a small school up to a powerhouse. When I first started those runs, playing as a tiny program away against a heavyweight like Duke was so god damn difficult. I never felt like it was unfair or the game was cheating though. The 6th man feature made every possession count and I still enjoyed knowing that while I probably wouldn't win, I could fight to keep it close. Once you got to be a big school though, that same 6th man meter could lead to upsets away against smaller schools. That game never got boring. The way you could scout players and even control them in ABL games to get a feel for their game was fun. The cherry on top was the presentation, I'd sit through all the weekly highlights and selection show for march madness' brackets.
At first I thought, why don’t they release college games and allow for customization so the fans can create the rosters but then I realized that doing that would mean people don’t buy the new titles which are just glorified roster updates at this point

Recruiting was always hard for me in this game. But the historic roster and legacy mode and ncaa tournament brought amazing content. I loved the 2k pre game shows too

@@jpdevron9217 eBay. Just got it for $9 and change. Used but Very Good condition with the manual and original case. EA Sports NCAA10 with the ESPN license is the expensive one. After 3 attempts I finally won an eBay auction for $61 and that was used/very good. New ones will be $100+.

i played college hoops 2k7 for yearsssss as a kid. For for big reason, the recruiting. Starting at VMI or Morehead st and just getting a decent 3 or 4 star gave me the most amazing feeling ever
I set up the canceled 2020 NCAA tournament with this game and streamed it, super fun activity during covid. Wish they still made these games, loved them.
Thankfully I was able to get a copy at a GameStop a few years back on PS3. I still own my PS3 because a lot of sports games are fun on there and games you can’t play on PS4.

Such nostalgia lol... best thing about it was the pointed virtual final 4 tournament. It was an end of season single elimination tournament using the actual teams from March madness. I lost in the second round lol

I love that dynasty mode. I'd get to a power conference school just to get the point to add to my coaching attributes, go to a mid-major and build them up into a monster. By the time I was late into the career, I'd be pulling All-Americans, winning championships and going undefeated or losing only a couple games a season.

I have this game right now. I'm currently running a team called the Sparta Spartans and I'm loving it. I've never been into basketball games, or basketball in general for that matter, but this game is amazing!! It might one day make me a real basketball fan

@chrharmar the beginning of the downfall? It was the last game they made not by choice. As for features, the ultimate, dynasty and added benefits of things like a route tree were far better in 14 than previous games. The only possible downside to 14 was load times. As for the engine, across all ncaa communities, infinity engine is regarded as the far superior engine and really opened up the ability to run the option offense.

@BrokeHomieQuan the presentation (pregame for example) really sucked, in 14. That's why I picked up earlier titles. Actually, overall i do feel 11 had the best graphics/presentation. As for actual gameplay, I can't really make an argument for or against it.
