I’m trying my darndest to accept a 14” deep bass drum, but I’m sixty five and grew up in the shallow bass drum era, and nothing has ever shaken the grandstands like my Pearl MCX 18” x 24” drum! Like battering ram! 💥💥💥
Killer sound. Looking to get a set to replace my starter set eventually and these just stick out like crazy to me. Definitely love the huge sound from the larger drums just need the humungo 18 floor to complete it.
This vid shows don't waste your money on high end kits anymore unless $8000 is pocket change for you. Pearl Decade and especially the Mapex Armory are more than enough for any professional live or recording setting. It's just the truth today.
It’s around medium low, but the amount of turns by the key is different for each drum so there really is no point to tell that (and I don’t pay attention to that) tuning is all about feel and the way it sounds. If it sounds good, then keep it where it’s at!! Only newbies worry about the exact amount of turns etc.
@@Landon_Dyer I absolutely agree with you that it’s by feel, but I have issues tuning my own pearl decade. I own another kit, but have no problem tuning that one it’s only the pearl decade. I like medium low pitched drums and I can’t achieve that sound with the pearl decade without the lugs falling. With only 1/4 turns from finger tight the pitch is already decently high. That’s why asked you about tunings.
@@Senior-nt6dy You have to make sure that the batter and reso head are around the same tuning if you want a low sound. If you have the bottom head higher, then there’s no way that the drum can produce a low sound. Reach out to me and we’ll see if we can figure this out!
@@Landon_Dyer I’m not knocking your drums, man. I love pearl drums, and you have a really nice set! These, the industry refers to as Beginner and intermediate sets, have come a very long way. I just wish the company didn’t cut certain unnecessary corners in the manufacturing of some of their products. I can understand a 14” inch drum with 6 lugs. A 16” drum though… maybe I just come from a different time. Great review btw.
@@Landon_Dyer I understand very much.. For easier and a more detailed tuning I would prefer my 16" Decade Maple floor tom to have the same amount of lugs as my 18" Decade Maple floor tom, which has 8 lugs, it's still fairly easy to tune though..

You definitely need to get the 18" Decade Maple floor tom 'cause it sounds killer, Man..

That bass drum. Holy shit man
the hoops are 2.3 or the regular 1.6?
Sorry for the late reply, I didn’t get a notification. The hoops are just the standard triple flanged
What is your tuning here? It sounds pretty low, so I’m wonder how many turns you did with the key?

This took too long
I’m pretty pissed about the 12-lug 16” floor tom. This is just inexcusable.
Both my toms have 6 lugs so idk what you’re talking about 🤷

Oh okaaayyy, I understand lol. It would definitely be nicer for tuning if it had more lugs.
