Letting a car run without the battery was a thing years ago. I've read multiple different places that is a very bad thing to do with modern cars. The many electrical loads a car has today can draw much more power than will be produced by the alternator when the car is just idling.

Mine read 14.70-14.75 today after the “charging system error” light came on. 2012 Honda pilot. Could this be the reason? I mean it didn’t stay on for too long, and I recently changed alternator about 4 months ago. 😕
