Well done. Watching this makes me reflect on my own life. The passion these two characters had to pursue their dreams is in stark contrast to my own life. I never fully pursued my dreams in life because of the self doubt I had, the lack of faith in myself. And that's sad. The part of the movie that struck the biggest chord with me was when Mia doubted that she could ever become what she dreamed of becoming. Sebastian helped her through it. I never had that kind of person in my life. Basically for me, I gave up too easily on things, didn't or couldn't fight through my insecurities and fears. The lesson learned: if you don't fight thru whatever is holding you back, you will become depressed for the missed opportunities and the disappointment, and can never become the person you wished you were.

Thanks for correctly analyzing this movie! It's also surprisingly one of my favorite movies (I generally hate musicals). It's fascinating seeing all the interpretations of the ending, and blaming one or the other character for their selfishness or for dragging the other one down. But what they're missing is that being in love with the act of Creativity, expressing ones' self through some artistic form, can be on an equal level with love of another person. Creativity is a tangible entity we can connect with. For both Mia and Sebastian, that creative entity was the third person in their relationship and at that stage of their lives, they just didn't have room for both the creative entity and the other person. They both chose their muse, and THEN other things could fit in. Mia's husband wasn't on that creative level and wasn't fighting for that air when he finally came into her life. Sebastian, as of the end of the movie, was content with where he was at that point. He might have even been holding out a What If about Mia, but what that final set of smiling nods showed us was that they both still acknowledged how important they were to each other, but that they were both happy with their choices, despite the glimpse of what the Epilogue showed us. They both understood and didn't regret the choice to choose their Art. Sebastian could now move on, content that his choice was right for him, and hers was right for her.

Omg this was perfectly said, I couldn’t agree more. I feel like everything you said explains why I love this movie so much. I connect with art like it’s a person I love, like it’s my baby, so I completely understand the way this movie ended. It was perfect! I love your insights, thank you so much for this!

Man just came from watching your analysis of "Requiem of a dream", and I really quite enjoyed it (planning on checking out the rest of your review/analysis videos). As of recommendations I would really like to see some classical film reviews. Films like "Dial M For Murder", ''Witness of The Prosecution", "Ace in The Hole", and "The Third Man" I think would make for great dives and deconstructions. For more contemporary options though, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", "Memento", "Midsommar", and "Almost Famous" might make for interesting reviews. All and all keep up the nice work.

La La Land literally made me cry. I watched it during a point in my life where I thought I could reach my dreams because I was convinced by everyone I could. Only for it not to happen.
Emma’s character reflected a lot to me. How you kinda feel cheated by those who told you to reach for it, only for them to go on the side of practicality.
Your analysis videos are just pure awesome. I hope your channel will grow more.

I'm glad I came across your analysis of La La Land, it mirrored a lot of what I had already come to believe after watching the movie. I watched it for the first time about 6 months ago but it has stuck with me more than any other movie has, which is surprising since I don't like most musicals. May have to do with the fact that I have played the piano for over a decade now and my ex's name is Mia lol. Regardless, thank you for the breakdown! I enjoyed it a lot

What a nice surprise ! I was about to make a joke last week about taking a little break from heavy movies😀 I love La La Land, it is such a nice hommage to some of my favorite musicals : Grease, Singing in the rain, one scene reminded even Les Demoiselles de Rochefort. It's one of the movies I've watched on "dermal" level : enjoying the music, the choreography, the beautiful love story that seems destined: the movie is touching on this quite popular and new concept of destined encounters, soulmates, etc. The end made me cry😀 I think, in fact, the final sequence is very optimistic : the path we choose doesn't matter, beautiful things still can happen, just be ready to go where life takes us.

Hahaha I was looking at my uploads and it's basically all horrors or tragic dramas. If you know any other uplifting or fun movies that are still layered enough for analysis, please let me know! I also am obsessed with this movie, it's one of my favorites ever made!! The references, choreography, and love story like you said are all super touching. And I love your interpretation of the ending, it could very well be seen as an optimistic vision of the endless possibilities of the future!

@@lucasblue20 Ha ha, those movies are more interesting to analyse but I can see how digging in human psyche and philosophical depths can be exhausting. Some suggestions ? Hmm, Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, Being John Malkovich, Pulp fiction ?

How I would explain La La Land
Love can be for a season or it can be for a lifetime in can come about in from a random or planned connection. Love is cared for and takes sacrifice, compromise, understanding, tolerance, patience, passion, and continue support. The characters of LALA land lacked a lot of what I mentioned to obtain their dreams and love each other. So the movie ends on a note we were not meant to be we were just a season but we got what we wanted our careers which is our first love and that is ok! This was a season and passing case of love!
