its only natural that background characters would look odd in the older episodes, Mike Judge barely knew how to draw and animate when he first started. but i think that the realistic NPCs add to the humor of the show, seeing how B&BH are these strange morons in a normal world.

I just discovered these new shows yesterday, 1/30/2024 AD. I had a couple questions, for those of you that have been watching longer than I have. 1) Why are Beavis and Butthead older in a few episodes? 2) Are these videos on CZcams just previews, or are they longer on TV? The ones I have been watching are usually just under 5 minutes. 3) Are some of the 90s characters still on the show, like Todd ♥, Earl, Daria, Stuart, Mr. Buzzcut, or Mr. Anderson? The only one I've seen so far, is Van Driessen.
I absolutely loved this show, in the early 90s, when I was in my early 20s, and I still find it hilarious! Thank you, for any help, on my questions.

There are a few episodes were they sre older to show what the ones from the 90s would look like today since the ones were they are young take place in our current year.
You should watch the newer movie, "Beavis and Butthead Do the Universe" for the setup to the current show. And like Gonger said, some episodes are to show what things would be like if the original B+B grew up. Sort of an alternate universe. And yes, these are just clips. I think the show streams on Paramount+

The two were split into multiple copies in different timelines across the multiverse. That's why they're teenagers in 1990, in 2020, and also older. And aliens.
There's no canon and no chronology. It's just a running commentary on society. Some people express themselves in words or music. Mike Judge uses Beavis and Butthead. Any cohesive narrative is an figment of the imagination.
