Wow!! My favorite album of all time is For Kunsten ma vi evig vike and now some 20 + years later and they are back!! I'm speechless! Can you imagine the pre-sales when this will be announced? I'm in line for a copy 4 sure. All hail the Twig!!
Amazing stuff!!! This indeed reminds Obtained Enslavement old albums but again the core Kvist style is here. I would like a more prominent sound for the bass but this is only a demo version. Still waiting to hear some vocals the old style, as Kvist never sang the lyrics but just read them. This would be the come back of a lifetime similar to that of Mysticum! \m/
The drums sound like a placeholder for an actual rythm section. Curious how this is going to turn out. Is there any word from the members apart from this release and the statement from Peaceville in the song description ? Which of the original members are back? I know the drummer (who was 14 at the time of recording For Kunsten...) quit drumming because of an inflammation related illness. So is it Tom Hagen and Hallvard Hagen with a new drummer? Or is Endre Bjotveit back as well?
sounds like tartaros more than kvist itself, buried powerless guitars under overdone synths and the drumming cannot be more innacurate. But still hoping that the next songs would be much better
Well they was branded as avantgarde black metal band but imo they never be: same years even before avantgarde were few like Ved Buens Ende and anyone can listen to their 95 debut album and then in 96 the debut and last Kvist album and could say "well, one of those two is not a BM avantgarde band" I anwer that Kvist were not the avantgarde fellaz they were a new norvegian Melodic Epic Black Metal band with a very personal songwriting, more well arranged to finest details never eat before from any other BM band. Also some really good synth pads were yet here and there in the background of some tracks on For Kunsten Maa Vi Evig Vike and perfectly sit where they put them. Those loud synths from what they announce even not like a demo version of one song that will be on their comeback full length: they told this is an instrumental promo track that will be recorded and put on our forthcoming new album and so well, if you image and "place" those synths in background and even more change the instrument in a synth pad imo, wow this so precious come back is also to be expected majestic but...I don't know, sure they signed to peaceville for let them including this "sample track" in a label anniversary compilation, and this sure. Since then Peaceville add not a single word about I'm more in a unpleasant but pretty realistic doubt that for the forthcoming full length with Peaceville Records up to date they haven't signed anything else. After For Kunsten Maa Vi Evig Vike just amazing reviews on some underground zones meanwhile we understand because there was never an interview with them moreover even a single small fanzine news that just write unofficial scoop about their silence post release that just time and some very brief comments by Nefas bring us to get an official band disbanded announce and minimum 5 years after. Call me malicious but if in the next months like it happens in 96 Peaceville or some unofficial "warm up" about their comeback full length should be found, methink that we will have reason to think that what happens aka what we will still not know fully today to them, should bring this post hype phase and track to how things gone in the past, where they disappearing silently and "far from hotspot lights" out from the BM scene 27 years ago. At this point I would prefer that this track along others new others will contain and over the main instrument in the tracks some this bad sounding synth instead a breakdown of ay kind of steady nevermore updates during next month, a steady standby that will reaching end of this year= Kvist will still our beloved '90s disbanded amazing band. To be more pragmatic: if zines and even the label will stop to publish even some hype alert about Kvist reunion easy the reason will be that they got lost any kind of contact with the band this will stink like a second round of the "Post For Kunsten Maa Vi Evig Vike" epilogue. Of course as a fan I will letting prevail positive hopes about the future that means I will waiting even for months updates. But I'm also not at all in any field a blindfaith kind of a man and sot even remotely I'm not going to get out from my rational side that this "should gone also so... again like it goes after their first release disappear"
