Actually spider has pulled his punches for so long it's a unconscious act at this point. He can't throw a full punch if he wanted to.
Yes he can, he chooses not to consciously because he believes everyone, even his enemies, are all potentially redeemable & deserve to have a chance. He knows is he didn't, he could kill most of them & he chooses not to.

Him fighting full power against thanos shows that although he is strong, he isn't as strong as his meat-riding fans say he is. The hulk and tony wipe the floor with him, snap back to reality.

Fun fact, he did actually pull his punches against thanos, just he wasn't really aware that he was due to the natural blocker he has plus his spidersense recognizing how much of the blocker needed lifted for thanos.. basically the strength of Spider-Man's punches rely on his current mood and his spider senses.. mostly his mood though

He's still holding back in all of these scenes. People like GG are superhuman. His durability is similar to Spider Man and so he can't hold back as much and still win. The mysterio one, if Peter truly wasn't holding back, the wall would have been destroyed. Not just cracked. He was clearly punching hard enough to break his helmet. And against Thanos he was most likely going all out but Thanos was still much stronger then him.

Back in the 80s, Marvel put out a series called The Secret Wars, where a being of true GOD-like power, known as the Beyonder, brought two groups together on a patchwork planet of his own creation. One group was the superheroes of earth (including Spiderman), and the other was Earth's supervillains.
During the the war, a supervillainess (named Titania) brutalized someone who was physically far inferior to her. Peter was so outraged by this that he proved himself to be a member of the 100 ton weight class of superheroes (along with heroes like Thor, Hercules, and Hulk), ripped a MASSIVE piece of equipment off of its moorings, and brutalized Titania into submissiveness. Had he wanted to, he could have made her his slave, but Peter has always been a much better person than most and actually felt bad for being forced to beat her so badly. Titania never fully, psychologically recovered from the beating.
This is part of why Spiderman has ALWAYS been my favorite character, and always will be.

Albeit Superman is a million times stronger than Spider-Man, and tens of thousands times stronger than Thanos, Superman is kind hearted and doesn't wish to hurt others, even those he so badly wants to.

Remember Zod about to barbecue that innocent family and Superman waling in anguish over killing Zod despite him doing the right thing -- aka, justifiable homicide?
