I think a basic laptop with normal RAM should suffice...all you need is a good internet connection...you just need to create an aws account and create an ec2 instance as per the requirements..the charges are minimal and can be well used for all the learnings..plus u can delete them once done with..and always better than buying an expensive one..

Randomly stumbled upon this video. Bang on bro! Just buy a windows gaming laptop and put wsl2 on it with fancy terminal (ohmyzsh etc) and you are set. For a good devops engineer a type of laptop doesnt matter, its how well you configure it..like terminal dotfiles, backup incase machine dies.

Hey I am a student and involved in DevOps since 2nd year of my college. Laptop I used having specs:. 16GiB RAM + 256 SSD + 4 CORE ( i.e. total 8 CPUs), no hard disk(it's a wastage). The cost will be approximate 60000 thousand. The reason why 16GiB Ram because I used to run Minikube, which consumes atleast 2GiB RAM, To run 2 VMs, combinely consumes 4 GiB RAM + 4CPUs , and also I used to open lots of Tabs around 50-69, which also consumes RAM, along with that used to run open source code.
But if you don't run VM and as well Minikube ( kind alternative) then 8GiB RAM is sufficient with 4 CORE +265 SSD.

Hi sir, does ubuntu distro used for prod. environment? Is it ideal to make server using ubuntu? or centos is better? because I saw many vdeos used ubuntu when to demonstrate a topic that needs gui. Is that applicable in real life scenarios? I thought real servers are GUI less
Usually RHEL or CentOS are used in PROD. Yes no GUI.
@@CloudAdvocate thank you sir. I think they only used ubuntu as a jumphost and if the host server is running for example jenkins and they will connect to the jenkins server to have its web base GUI to manage.
How about subscription on platforms like CloudAcademy etc to garner cloud/devOps skills ? The learning pace is 10 times faster here due to professional mentorship in such platforms...you pay to save time and frustration ..

Yes definitely. Even I have the same history like you and just started learning DevOps but you should also be learning some Programming languages like Python in parallel.

The reason why I didn't do that is because, I should test it first before recommending. So take any decent laptop from HP or Acer or Mac.

What's your thoughts on M1 and M2 apple laptops for DevOps, since it has ARM Processors. Does docker and Kubernetes have issue on M1 and M2 laptops.
Very good question, I am using M1 and now most of the issues are sorted. You can take M2 probably since its upgraded.

I'm not too sure, but aren't all these information you shared in this video are already known and basic information to someone who is thinking of pursuing career in devops, or cloud!?
I mean people these days are smart enough to Google and spend their money on anything which they're going to invest for their career (unless someone is having crazy amount of money and doesn't care about the expense!!)
Now, when all the information you shared is very much helpful for someone who is just newbie to computers and cloud, I am little bit sceptical if this will hit the correct audience, or not!!
