That at the 80mph speedo. My dad has a 5.0 5sp OBS Ford that feels quick because of the low-end grunt and how fast the needle moves, but if I timed it out I'm sure the 0-60 is like 10 seconds or more lol. Not bad for the era, but still.
I love the thinking behind the 85mph maximum on the speedo. I had an ‘84 SVO that had the same 85mph maximum but had the hash marks to 140 without the numbers.
This car has the CFI (throttle body injection) version of the 5.0L with about 165hp, 45hp less than the HO 5.0 carbed engine used only in the 5-speed. The CFI engine is essentially the same engine used in the LTD, Crown Victoria, Town Car, etc.
Hey bro. It's a 302. Alot of potential. Just need it to have better airflow to explore the engines potential. Gt40p heads, cold air intake, good set of headers, and it would get to 60 twice as fast. Would pull hard till redline.
Well someday with a new true dual exhaust system with cat delete, long tube headers for auto trans car, smog pump delete, and maybe just maybe if i feel like it, a 3.73:1 rear end, she'll be faster. She makes 180 horsepower and 250 foot pounds of torque stock, with these little mods, she'll gain around 30 horsepower or on a good day, 40 horse power. Who needs a smog pump and catalytic converters?
Great point, but then it won't be stock! Aww, come on man, anybody knows the easiest way to add horsepower is with stickers! You get 10hp increase for each location on the body and 15 extra horsepower when you apply letters across the windshield!
@@jaykay18 Yep, but in my case, a gen z did not yield at the flashing yellow left turn, and guess where they were going to? Apparently the McDonald's where the accident happened, they were going to get their friend and drive to Dallas.
I had two of these cars. Both with 5-speeds and one with t-tops the other hardtop. Bought the t-top one brand new and the hardtop used. Total mileage combined was 560, 000 fun miles. The fox body 5.0 Mustang one of the most reliable cars ever.
Unless he has modified it, this car was factory equipped with the C.F.I. version of the 5.0L V8, rated at 165 h.p./245 LB/FT torque. You only got the 4BBL equipped 5.0, rated at 210 h.p./265 LB/FT torque, when the T5 manual transmission was selected. This is clearly equipped with an automatic transmission. With that said, it performs well here.
God that really makes me miss my 81 Capri Black Magic I had shoveled a built 351 police interceptor windsor in with a T5... That thing was A TON OF FUN. Couldn't stop worth a shit, but 0-100 NOBODY beat that car.
Is this the 5 litre viersion ? as it should do 60mph in 6.5 secs and 135mph top speed, i dont understand why speedos in the 80s only went up to 85mph ?
My 85 carbed i just swapped to a better edelbrock intake with a 650 double pumper 3.73’s with slicks, exhaust went 12:90’s all day with ac. 125 shot of nitrous got me into the 11:90’s. Pretty good for its time. That extreme low end of torque of the old school V8 makes it feel a lot faster than its paper time indicates.

Why? That takes the fun out of it lol
Why? Its a fox body, nothing special about these. I see LS swaps on these all the time

Pretty good for '80s performance, giving how notoriously underpowered that era was. Does this Mustang share the same engine as the LTD Crown Victoria?
Depends on year, most of the time no. Efi not quite and the crown Victoria was a auto. Stick was the winner in the 80-2000s
technically yeah you could get the crown victoria with the 4.9L windsor like this (in a worse tune). You could also get it in 4.2L and 5.8L capacities
