Si, The lab procedure for smelling something you are unsure of is to hold the bottle in one hand at a good distance from your face while you waft over the top of the bottle towards you with the other hand so that the aroma moves towards you without putting your mucus membranes in danger from taking a direct inhale from the jar. Always best to err on the side of caution since they used to sell some pretty dangerous chemicals before the safety regulations came along.
Schnort it or neck it n gerappy.
I am always impressed by the wide range of knowledge the group has. You can tell they love the history, heritage and craftsmanship.
I also love the companionship and how they are pleased for each other’s luck in the muck.
No kidding, hey?!!😃
Loved the T.pot bird house - what an artistic chappie you are, such a brilliant idea. Fingers crossed for some tenants very soon. 👀👍
Thanks pal 👍🏻🐾🧡
Neat chinese cloisonne napkin ring! I found a monogrammed sterling silver one on the river bank, all tarnished black and muddy. I initially thought it was a plumbing connecter but picked it up anyway and was glad I did!
Nice one Karen!
This is what Sundays are for
Yes, these videos do make me grateful to God on Sundays! Kevin is certainly a very darling digging companion.
I bought a brown handpainted vintage teapot recently for $75 USD. They were sold in various flower patterns as fundraisers during WWII. Painted by volunteers of varying artistic ability..
Cheers Craig! 👍🏻👣🧡
Si, your talent never ceases to amaze. That was a terrific use of a tea pot and cup!
Thanks Venus x
Brilliant artist and mudlark, and a proper lad.
Absolutely solid bloke
Thank you Sir 👌🏻
Wonderful finds!
I don't think I have seen Tim get so excited. He cracked a few smiles. LOL Clever teapot idea and loved the dragons. I think my favorite, can't recall who found it, but the blue bottle with the bubbles in the glass. Looked like stars in a bottle.
Thanks!!
Have you ever thought of doing an advert with a washing powder company to see if they can wash your stuff after a bottle dig! You could earn some good money! Lovely finds been looking at bottles this week in antique shops similar to those you find
Haha. Good idea!
Hi Robert, What you recommended would have been fine ‘in our day’ say the sixties and seventies. But those advertising gurus don’t even consider the human element in things these days. It’s all about clever, clique and comedy these days. No more human interest now. It’s gotta be ‘more bang for your buck’. Get ‘me by their throats and their wallets and purses will talk for them! A bit sad, but realistic I’m afraid. I’d try it, but I’m 68. It’s all pitched at the tech-savvy youngsters now.
Sunday mornings and Simon go together like PB&J!! Lots of "muck" today but glorious finds. Cheers gentlemen!!
Haha cheers Cindy!
Now I'm starting to name the bottles out loud as you pull them up. Drives my wife crazy 🤣.
Great job with the tea pot 👍.
Haha! Guess the bottle! That’s what we do 😂
Clever idea that teapot, especially as it will turn from ordinary tea to green tea over time. Nice one.
Not if I lacquer it 👍🏻
*Sifinds, Kev & Tim always deliver dump digging!* ❤Tim smiling with excitement over his ginger beer. Simon suprised by a beautiful & intriguing pair of🐉dragons in cloisonne. And a nicely designed & upcycled bird box!! Dudley 🧡😊
Thanks so much for including the history of the items you find. I'm a history geek from the US but my Ancestry is British, Irish and Scottish. Only a few generations back. I learn so much from watching your channel. Hope you get teapot tenants for years to come. I love your imagination in seeing them up-cycled.. Watching from Missouri.
Thanks so much cuz
I love bottle dumps!
So many different glass designs, colors & shapes...they really knew how to make their products be eye-catching, in Victorian times! 💗
Thanks for bringing us along, Si 👍
- love from Denmark 🌸🌱
Thanks Z!!
Loving the tea pot bird house it reminds of the mad hatters tea party off Alice and wonderland
Haha yeah!!!
I looooooove those tiny poison bottles ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Wonderful aren’t they!
The yellow 5 claw dragon is the symbol for (royalty) in Chinese culture and was normally worn by Emporers in the Qing dynasty period, could be a very significant piece! Almost looks like it could possibly be an imperial sword sleeve..and the artwork style looks quite old, great vid!
Thanks so much!
Caustic soda is the name most folks may know potassium hydroxide by :) I love these digs, big love from Scotland!
Cheers Jonny 👍🏻
@@Sifinds so I'm wondering, when you coming up north to meet the Northern Mudlarks, fall in love with Alex and she with you, and you can both live happily ever after, making delightful mud loving babies? 😂🤣😍
Kev just seem like the nicest, sweetest man.
Elliman's is highly recommended for anyone whose a little hoarse🍻
Reign it in 😂
@@drunkdunc8738 I cant er imagine why 😃
The dragon object is amazing! Can't wait to scroll through further comments to see what it is!
I'm thinking it's a serviette ring (somewhat squashed). Search for Antique Chinese Dragon Cloisonne Enamel Napkin Ring and you will find images of similar rings.
Cheers Angela. Surprised me!
I love that Ginger Beer bottle
It's interesting how I found one of those Elliman's royal bottle all the way down here in Devon
What a cute idea for the tea pot and mug. How creative you are!
Thanks Dawn!
Thoroughly enjoyed the dig.. great finds, especially that little blue poison bottle, the napkin ring thingy, the ginger beer and that orange-peel bottle! But from a lover of garden ornaments I loved the teapot feeder! 😊👍👍
Thanks Petri!!
The raised wire work are "cloisons" that were attached to the brass/metal and the powdered glass enamel was inlaid into all of the sections. The technique is really quite amazing.
Thanks for the info on cloisonné!!!!! We all learn something everyday!!!
You beat me to it, Hunter R, good job. Must have been a beautiful piece originally, yes?
Thanks Hunter 👍🏻🐾🧡
Your Cornish ware mug that you used on the bird nester is in better condition than the mug I am currently drinking tea from !!!
Haha! Even with the drill holes?
LOVE the bottle dump gang!
My t-shirt arrived. Perfect fit and awesome quality. So happy. Thanks!!
You can buy Elliman's embrocation for humans still today. My Dad and I use it on our achey knee joints
Really? Ha
Aw Kev's mucky face...what a superstar that guy is. Some great finds Si and the upcycle was just genius. Love it.
Cheers Viv!!
Love how excited everyone gets when they find a favorite, like the ginger bottle. I’m a sucker for anything with advertising 💕
That tea pot bird house is adorable and inspirational
That bird house was super cool 😁😁😁😁
Cheers Mary!
Absolutely love watching the 3 of you digging bottles. Fabulous finds & love your bird box.
Thanks Gill! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Great find Simon, Tim and Kev. I’m waiting for Tim to be like uncle Albert from only fools and horses, “during the war” LOL! The ginger beer was magnificent. Loved the up cycle of the tea pot. Happy hunting
Cheers Ad! Hopefully get some birds in it now 🤟🏻
I love how your mate Kev always ends the day literally smeared with mud on his face. A true Mudlover. Cracks me up. The teapot nest sculpture was inspired, and looks great.
The tea pot and mug birdhouse idea is pretty cool!
Love it when you surprise yourself during the clean up! Beautiful “napkin ring”!
Always take it, you can Chuck it out later but you can’t refind it if you left it behind
If you can find suitable tops for the meat paste jars they would make a great salt and pepper set. Your project turned out really nice.
Great idea!
Tim's talent for finding water makes me wonder if he's a dowser in his day job :)
Haha!
LOVE the bird box, you have an excellent imagination 😀
13:25 WOW, great find! Have seen the exact bottle shown on episodes of Gold Trails and Ghost Towns from late local historian, treasure hunter Bill Barlee's personal collection! Lot's of history connecting with the first discovery of gold in B.C. and immigrant miners bound for the (Frazer's River) Fraser River from San Francisco during the 1858 gold rush.Keep an eye out for old chinese Tiger Whiskey jugs!
Love the bird box teapot! I think that last ring item might be a napkin ring.
Said before, said again, Tim reminds me so of my late brother. He was the master digger, I the mere acolyte. My typical trick was to get all wound up in rusty bedsprings! Great finds all round and I love the cuppa bird box ;-) x
God bless him 🧡
I'm Scottish, but my paternal grandfather was born and raised in Gravesend. He loved his Camp Coffee. And as a result of watching yourself and some other mudlarkers, I've started my own vintage/antique perfume bottle collection. Much to the dismay of my bank account 😂. Getting the wellies out soon for a spot of beach combing soon though.
Nice one Karen!!
Great day of digging with "The Bottle Boys". LOL I'm so happy you took those 2 paste pots. They really are lovely, & unique. The colours on the 4 small bottles really pop when they're filmed beside one another. :) I'll be back for the next video, Simon. I've been "hooked" for a while now. LOL Take care & stay safe. Bye for now.
Thanks so much!!
Looks like you guys have found a sweet spot! Lots of great finds. 👍🏼
Thrilled to see a new video. I missed you! Cheers from Washington State, USA.
Cheers Kitty. It’s only been a week 😬
What a cute bird box. The napkin ring is a beauty.
Your teapot and cup bird house is a total delight and I just love the copper wire 'water'!
Thank you!!
Thanks for your ever positive attitude.
Awesome day for you guys outdoors again stay blessed and see you again on the next episode 👍🍺🙏🌟
Cheers Roger! 👍🏻🐾🧡
I want a Blood tonic and Lung tonic for my scientist daughter. So cool. Stay safe and cheers. My child is a medical researcher. Working every day to find cures and vaccines.
A great idea
Seemed that Tim had “a leg up” 🦵🏼initially in today’s digs❣️😘👩🏼🦳
Thanks for all the content. My favourite part is the deep dive on all the companies you do i find it fascinating! My mum loves your channel as well. Much love from Australia!
Thanks Mark!!!
And Mum!
Besides making very enjoyable content Simon, every video you post confirms what a genuinely kind man you are. You are and your work is Appreciated. : )
Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻👣🧡
You could have glued that Victorian doll's bath tub to a wood board, (on the flat broken side), and then put in it one of your found broken dolls in some resin 'bathwater' mixture with bubbles and made a cute wall plaque scene. I LOVE the teapot and hope it makes a happy home for some lucky, eccentric bird with great taste!
I think… think I took it. If I have I will do that 👍🏻
You guys have had amazing finds, really love the napkin ring, and the cut glass orb. Tims ginger bottle is awesome. Si , I just absolutely love the teapot bird house, really do hope a couple move in and start their family life xx
Thanks so much!
Can still get rubber rings for kilner jars. We used them for pickeling since 1960 but they were around a long time before, my nan used them before the war. She was a hospital cook in wartime and swoped some rations of flour, sugar ect, at the back door of hospital kitchens, with poachers for rabbits ect for some meat to put in the dinners for patients !
I like to watch your dump digging with your friends Kev and Tim! Have a great week and be safe!
Cheers Billie 👍🏻🐾🧡
I love the teapot. Well done.
Lots of great finds. I like the two dragons
Your smiling face and thumbs up are what I’m here for, as well as the cool finds!
Thanks Kristen 😉
Loved the bird tea pot and cup! Genius idea 🥰❤️👏🏻
Tim always finds the best places to dig. Si is too busy being Mr. DeMille and Kev is so quiet, shy and cute. *swoon*
Give away found tea pots! Love that, Si
What a treasure trove of bottles ! Great video as always . Love the upcycled teapot so imaginitive !
Thanks Elaine!
It looks like a napkin ring to me! Very cool find. Wish we could have seen Kev's blue bubbly ink cleaned up. Love ink bottles!
Love that Chinese cuff thing how nice...... Si ur giggle is infectious lol I cant help laugh at it, another great vid...... cant wait till u film in scotland😁 huge hugs as always from Scotland 😘😘🏴🏴
Cheers! I’m coming up in a few weeks 🤫
Perhaps a napkin ring? I love the dragons. What a wonderful find!
Yes. Cheers Sadie 👍🏻🐾🧡
Terrific creation! Thank you for allowing us to share. ZanneBC Canada
My pleasure! 👍🏻🐾🧡
What do you do with all your finds? Would love to see how you display them.
Working on it 😉
Great idea for Patreon members!
You are so clever with that birdhouse. Hope some birdies take up residence real soon!
Tea, Si and biscuits. Nothing more to say. 🇨🇦🐘🍁👣
Yum!
Really really fine bird house. Cool!
Thanks!!
The Kilner jar and ginger beer would be my favorites. The eye ointment Kev found was interesting as well!
Cheers 👍🏻🐾🧡
Very cool teapot and cup! That must be what Sara from Manchester Mudlarks was talking about! She had a tea pot and talked about doing what you did. She didn’t know you had made one so she said she was going to contact you as she didn’t want to copy u! I love how you larkers and so thoughtful and respectful of each other!
Marvellous Luck in the Muck !!!
I think the napkin ring is cloisonne? It's very beautiful. Such a special find. xxxx
Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻👣🧡
The bird box turned out amazing.
Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻👣🧡
Love the tea pot and cup on the tree! Great imagination!
Nice Simon tea Art👍💯
What a clever idea for a bird box!
The napkin ring is gorgeous 😍
Another great video. Did not know I was desperate for a Antique Chinese Dragon Cloisonne Enamel Napkin Ring until Sharen Wood further down the comments led me on a google hunt! I do enjoy your friends. The printed jar was special. Lots of mud :)
Haha! Good luck hope you find a nice set
8:30 If it interests you to know that cobalt blue bottle you found is most likely a castor oil dating around WWI, love your vids, keep it up!
Great thank you
Love your two dragons design find. What a lovely, lovely find.
I love how crafty you are with your finds! You have such a good eye when it comes to making something creative out of what you have 🤍
I thought the thickened bottom on the eye ointment was to reinforce it. Imagine putting MERCURY in your eye! EEK! You really love ya mud, you guys. Some magic finds. Keep doing what you doing and thanks so much for sharing with us all. You do all the hard work and we sit on our butts enjoying watching you. How good is that!?
Haha. Thanks pal 👍🏻🐾🧡
Very cool, never seen birdhouse like this! Genius!
Great finds in the victoriana dump. Love seeing al,mother different bottles come up and finding out their history. The bird house you made was absolutely brilliant, hope you get some tenants. Really love your channel xxxx
Thanks Gaynor!!
Yay Kev’s back 👍🏻 ☺️
Hi Simon. I think the tiny bath tub belongs to a frozen Charlotte doll! I think the napkin ring will look great once sealed with clear varnish.
You boys always seem to uncover something special. Lovely collection today.
Cheers Jane! 👍🏻🐾🧡
No rabbits harmed the first thing I thought of was Beatrix Potter, Thumper and then a really scary rabbit movie 😆, I love the videos the fact that you have found your passion and enjoy it every time it’s always a wonderful adventure. What an amazing haul
Watership down maybe? No we kept well away
It does amaze me that so many of these breakable items are intact I love this bottle dump .
Me too 👍🏻🐾🧡
I think the napkin ring was adorned with cloisonne...colored enamel glass held in place with thin copper stripping. Flux is applied to the surface, powdered glass sticks to the flux and then it's baked at a heat hot enough to make the glass flow throughout the little copper-enclosed areas.
Nice one Lucy 👍🏻🐾🧡
