What's wild is that this is the only late night show that took what thr pandemic gave them and absolutely ran with it. The laid back vibe, you can tell Seth is an amazing boss and everyone loves working there. It feels like family and doesn't feel as Hollywood as they used to. It's especially good that they leaned heavily into audiences on youtube and not the TV. It was so smart to do something like corrections. I've been watching since week 1 and havnt missed one yet despite not seeing some of the weekly shows or all the guest appearances.

The anger and intensity with which Seth complained about the lack of lightness in the jackal comments this week was exquisite.

As someone who shares the December 28th birthday, I absolutely LOVE to hear everyone surprised you with a party. A lot of people assume it's a full week of partying, having your birthday sandwiched between Christmas and New Years, but really it's the opposite. No presents or parties, people are out of town or busy, etc. Truly is the "holiday taint" (using that forever lol).
That was super sweet of the crew and I know it meant a lot. Happy early birthday to us, Seth!!!
I have a friend with a 12/28 birthday too. I look forward to telling her I will now refer to her day as the holiday taint

Decimate is, according to the OED, a "skunked term", which means that it has become so thoroughly associated with terms such as "annihilated" and "devastated" that it has become unusable in its historical form and the definition of the term is no longer determined by its historical link to the Latin "decima". It's how they get around the idea that language changes over time, even if there are still recognizable derivations. Once a term has been 'skunked', it is too severely altered by contemporary use to be defined by its historical use.
So Seth was, according to the OED (and I apologize for this) right in the first place.
So many words like this that I have ceased to steam under my collar. Happened to "awesome". Happened to "literal" (and what are we to say now when we really mean literal?) Looks like "exponential" is headed that way, too.

We have an expression around my part; "en bjørnetjeneste" (literally "a bear-favor") which means "doing someone (usually yourself) an unintended disservice" - but which in 'youth-speak' is slowly coming to mean "doing someone a huge favor". I guess this sort of shift comes about when a term isn't in every day use, so that when someone younger picks it up and then uses it incorrectly, no one in their segment knows to correct it, and it just takes hold with the new meaning. Then of course, it becomes a problem when "generations collide".
A: "Can you do me a bear-favor?"
B: "Why on Earth would I do that?"
A: "Oh, thanks a LOT!!" *storms off*
B: ....?

I wonder if the person was trying to comment on a Daily Show clip or something. But that video ended and Corrections was next up before they posted it. I've caught CZcams trying to burn me like that before - if you have a premium subscription and create a playlist, it just rolls right into the next video while you're still composing a comment, and will post to the video playing at the time.
But whatever the reason, that is a hilarious comment to post about Corrections 😂
I agree. To me it definitely sounded like an attempt at commenting on a Daily Show episode instead of Corrections! It's interesting seeing comments replying to deleted messages, or those that were on the wrong page, all over the internet and because they didn't include any context about what they were talking about have become completely indecipherable. The thing is with etymology is that language is fluid. So yes, decimate means reduced by ten percent, but because the consequences of that was so terrifying it has become a word meaning something much more dire.

I want to give Seth a shout out. I lost my 15 year old dog Rocky last April, and looking forward to Corrections every Friday helped me deal with my overwhelming grief and despair, it's something fun I look forward to. Even just interacting with fellow Jackals made me feel better after a truly devastating loss. I've since rescued a Catahoula Leopard puppy, his name is Fred, and I feel much better now, but I want Seth and Co to know that without Corrections, I wouldn't be in as good of a place as I am now, and I'm very grateful. Seth actually kind of saved someone's life with this silly segment.

I lost three elderly dogs and then both of my parents within the last 3 years, and Corrections and the jackals have 100% supported me through it all. 🐾❤️

Corrections started right when my marriage ended and I was in isolation, alone, during covid and looking forward to it each week saved me too.

I wanna point out that I’m currently not doing so well myself - I had a psychotic phase this year. I’ve been to the hospital but I’m out since June.
I’m hanging in there and enjoying and successfully distracting myself from misery and diving into corrections and replying to all the nonsense definitely helps with my depression.
I hope CORRECTIONS stays alive a bit longer.

Most of the late night hosts say stuff like that all the time. There’s only one exception to that. It’s John Oliver. He doesn’t pander to the audience at all. - Not like that anyway.
@L_M_V John is also on HBO. They have basically an unlimited budget as well as majority of creative freedom. Hes the pnly show that has repeatedly laid into HBOs parent company, a few times lol John also doesn't care because the truth isn't a feel good moment. Good honest truths come with a necessary underlying of dread, it's supposed to not feel good. But I do love how John starts with a joke and by the end its a skit. Really sells it.
Seth doesn't want sweetness. He wants abuse and unfair criticism. 🤓
Am I the only one uncomfortable with the love bomb at the end of each show? I mean, that's a big matzah ball to drop on me every night. I'm not sure I'm there yet. I'm not young, but I'd still like to play the late night field a bit more.
I, for one, find the way Seth handles his pencil quite soothing.
I have ADD so I never thought what he did with his pencil was weird. It just seemed like the normal thing to do with a pencil.

So, I promise I do watch Corrections while I'm awake, but I also like to put it on if I wake up at night and can't get back to sleep. I find it soothing and it almost always helps me fall asleep again (except for animal flubs, which is pretty jarring to hear when you're almost asleep.) So, I put this Corrections on last night and by the end of it I was sleeping soundly as hoped. A little while later... I literally got Rickrolled inside of my dream. Like, a dream Rickroll completely interrupted my dream and woke me up again. You Rickrolled me from inside my own brain. That's next level, Seth.

For the holiday season, jackals who are concerned about punctuation or know people like that might consider the book "Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation." It's a non-fiction book written by Lynne Truss, the former host of BBC Radio 4's Cutting a Dash programme. The title refers to the well-known diet of pandas (call back to Animal Flubs this week), but the misplaced comma changes the meaning completely! When you see the cover of the book, all will be much clearer. In any case, it's a great read; very funny. A particularly relevant gift for members of the jackal community or interested friends and family.

Seth, I’m writing from Montreal. I’ve watched every episode and I’m a huge fan. First of all, thank you for granting Canadians the privilege of watching a closer look, m’lord. Just wanted to say that my son, Tennyson, is also born on December 28th! He is turning 8 this year so please wish him a happy birthday! The holidays can be an awkward time to throw a birthday party, so we like to throw him a “half” birthday party in June with all his friends. I'm forced to mention that Giant Pandas are one of the very few animals which absolutely cannot digest meat. They are obligate herbivores. You just KILLED that giant panda, Seth. I hope you're proud of yourself.
Joke’s on you. The Red Panda are not considered animals and therefore, meat-free 😅
If you limited a Giant Pandas diet to nothing but Red Pandas, then sure, it would probably kill it from starvation, but an obligate herbivore won't die from eating an occasional Red Panda. It would just pass through their GI tract as undigested matter. Poop.
Of course, if a Giant Panda were to eat an entire Red Panda in one sitting, it could cause some intestinal blockage resulting in death, but have you ever tried to eat an entire Red Panda in one sitting? It's just about impossible (maybe a competitive eater could).

Ok, it's been a bit too long to do a callback... but I've been thinking about this for way too long so:
I went back and checked my mix tape compiled via holding the tape recorder to the radio. The lyrics are still definitely "just like the wild wind does; sings a song, sounds like she's singing "woooooo, baby, wooooooo, baby, woooooooo"."
This makes way more sense, because doves say "coo", not "ooh," and even then it's only MALE doves that do this, as part of the mating dance.

The running gags in CORRECTIONS are the funniest thing on the internet. All the Mac Tonight jokes, Seth's negroni, the Bane impression, and the one-winged dove and "Stevie next week!" I love joining in Seth's little inside jokes.

This Corrections was truly magical. The disappearing/reappearing dove, the third Rick Roll that someone predicted last week since there were only two last week and you have to obey the Rule of Three, the reappearance of Animal Flubs (poor Koala!) that many have been clamoring for and the list goes on. And the call back to Stevie's neck's weak was the icing on the cake. I hope next week's Corrections is a Christmas Specjackular, as someone here has already said. It could be a combined Christmas/Birthday celebration. Or maybe Seth will celebrate his birthday with a special Corrections on the 28th! It's a Thursday after all. Wouldn't that be great? Happy upcoming birthday Seth. You keep on being you!
