Late Night Munchies Anchorage, Alaska Edition

- Local Alaskan musician Nick Carpenter of Medium Build takes the team around his favorite spots to eat and drink in Anchorage, Alaska.
He starts the night at Anchorage Brewing Company, where Nick can occasionally be seen pouring drinks for other patrons. He and his partner grab some beer on tap and order meatball subs from Familia restaurant inside.
From there, Nick heads to Wild Scoops to meet up with his nephew, mother, and brother and try specialty ice cream flavors such as rhubarb crumble, buttermilk blueberry, and matcha latte-and try to get to the bottom of where the Carpenter family’s obsession with the creamy treat began!
Once Nick and his nephew celebrate their sugar rush, Nick heads around the corner and meets his father for cocktails, wine, apps, AND dinner at the allegedly haunted Club Paris. We still think they should have ordered two of the steak fillets, though!
After that, Nick takes us to the Carousel Lounge to get the true Alaskan dive bar experience. Nick links up with his friends, keeps on drinkin’, and does some karaoke before they walk over to a friend’s house for a fish fry with live music and more beverages.
Start taking notes, everyone, because if you ever make it to The Last Frontier, you’ll have perfect intel for a great night out!

Way to represent Anchorage, your dad definitely stole the show! 🙌❤
@@yetidog9717 you too!! Yall killed it 😘❤️🔥

Love you dude you're awesome!
I like this guy. He seems happy. Also seems like he really loves his family and friends.
He’s the open relation ship antifa type ya know 😅
@@Parkslopekid233 dafuq has that got to do with anything? Lmao
This a thousand times

Now this is the content you guys should be making more, no more NYC weekend brooklyn life or some shit, highlight the other places in america that arent the north eatern states, alaska who would have even thought it would be this dope, and what a great host. Please make more out of state content.
As a New Yorker I’m exhausted by the focus on NYC too. Want to see how the rest of my American brethren live.
@@MemoirsofaBasketcase as a fellow New Yorker I agree
I am from the Queens/Brooklyn NY area and I approve this message, There are so many other different beautiful places in america other than NY. Love this series and this alaska one.
As a New Yorker I’m giving it my seal of approval too
as a new yorker i agree as well. i know whats out here lol
His dad is a fucking legend! 😂
A legend in his mind

ALFREDO+ OVERUSED EXPRESSION THAT HAS NO VALUE
Well yes. Everyone knows John Carpenter and his films
Sounds like he's from Arkansas not Anchorage 😂
"I sit here and fry fish, as my friends sit and are happy " that's a chef's social life if I've ever heard one XD
catch fish cook fish laugh love, seems like a great life
Nick is an awesome dude- him & his old man enjoying wine & steak together was so wholesome.
About time we started getting some more of the old Munchies Nights Out!
“I think my gin martini has done its work, this gin martini has made me a wine expert”
Dad got bars
In defense of his dad, I thought they ordered two steaks as well haha
It was def their goof, lotta people share “big” steaks and the waitress had to wait for the son and the dad to come to agreement about it being blue cheese stuffed. Sounds like they’re sharing it. The waiter shoulda asked at the end of the order something along the lines of “so you’re sharing the big filet mignon?”
WAITRESS WAS CHOWING DOWN ON THE 2ND STEAK IN THE BACK, SHE WAS HUNGRY TOO
@@leelunk8235 she def high on tweak

Your dad is my kind of people! The whole episode was fucking great - need more Alaska!!
I just rewatched it... these people are amazing!
Well that’s the most wholesome thing I’ve watched all week
What does "wholesome" even mean?
I’m here for these slice of life episodes where you a follow a dude around just having fun. This was awesome
I was dying at nicks dad calling the blue cheese hole obscene 😅
Nick is such a rad dude as well as his family and Grace of course, so glad anchorage got represented by someone that means a lot to this community! Hell yah ❤
Saw him on NPR with Quinn Christopherson and you could tell he seems like a great genuine person. Happy you chose him to represent the city he loves.
Awesome Ep, so wholesome the host brings in his family like that.
Everything I love about vice in one episode
What about the Wartime documentaries what about the exploded bodies and dead people laying on the ground and gore. Is that what made you love Vice? Because thats where it all started Wartime documentaries. Gotta love Vice they show the many faces of life.

When she said a dad buffalo - bison
Bye, son.
She was quick with it
It goes: What the buffalo said when he left his son... Bison. It's a dad joke.
Not a terrible little tour of some popular spots in town. The habitual vulgarities are a little bit off-putting imo tho. Blabbity fuck shit fuck fucking shit blah blah... You don't have to be well-spoken, but show some class, guy. Clean it up.
This dude and his friends have the best vibe. I want nothing more than to be part of that group
What a great relationship with his parents! His dad is awesome🤣
Wow this was simply amazing work. The people. The scenes. So fucking rad. Makes me want to visit it and see it for myself
Wow! So wonderful to see that genuine loving relationship between son, mother, father and friends. Heart melted ❤
Wild Scoops has a much deserved spot in this video, also love that Mad Myrna’s was mentioned as well.
SCOOPS of blue ice cream all up in her booty 🍑🤓
one of the best episodes yet u definitely gotta bring him on again
Anchorage is my hometown. Thank you for the little bit of feel good about this beautiful spot on the planet..... And there's so much more. You might have to do a follow up.
Ah this was so hearthwarming and beautifull, love it, great host, amaziiing energy and food :) one of the best munchies episode !
... heartwarming* and beautiful*, amazing*
@@einundsiebenziger5488 Thank you :)
@@davinci3379 You're welcome. You know you can edit your own comments, don't you. And thanks for using actually meaningful adjectives, and not "wholesome" like everybody else.
I know, all good tho, no need to. I wrote what i wrote. Keep on making the youtube comment section correct, more power to you ❤
As soon as I heard his dads accent I was like man now I know I’m watching a video from Alaska
This is one of your best videos. That dude is your next star presenter. Send him around the world!
I never had any desire to visit Anchorage, but now its at the top of my list.
Summer is the best time.
that meat ball sub looked HEAVENLY
This guy and his family are top notch.
This might be the first episode I've watched with the mom and dad in it and I wasn't mad about that one bit. I really enjoyed this episode
Left field content is my favorite content. Alaska seems like a different world to most. The Great Frontier. Thanks for sharing.
It like this everywhere here. Even more pronounced in the villages. I currently work for the grocery stores out here. There’s always an after party, somewhere lol
it definetely is a diff world. i live in Anchorage i always reccomend people visit (especially in our summer season😊)
GOOOOOD DIIIID
They need to do a late night munchies after someone smokes, I mean that’s what technically gives you the “munchies” 😂
Drinking does as well if you don't over do it but the majority of munchies do come from the herb
I want friends like them bruh. So wholesome
"i sit here and fry fish and my friends be happy" is my new go-to
why is this so good, plus his mate whose a chef is fucking hilarious
"This is long john silvers with a polo shirt on" lmaooooo
Lol, love that he's the only one walking around in shorts in Anchorage. My kind of dude. 🤠
We wait till there's snow on the ground... Then bust out the flip-flops
Grew up in Anchorage, but outside right now. I really enjoyed this video. Great people.
Reminds me of Insomniac with Dave Attell. The Anchorage episode was a classic one.
Bro, that show was so good. Happy to see it brought up.
Glad to see us being represented ❤️ us Alaskans are usually forgotten about by the lower 48s
Hell yeah great representation of us Alaskans, stay safe and peace ✌️

Loved the singing at the end of the video. Nice way to spend time with friends.
Lil Dairy!... This dude is a character I could watch him often 😂
I've always wanted to visit Alaska. Definitely up there on my go-to places!! I'm a city gal but small towns are so fascinating, special and comforting! Love it

Never went to Alaska but now that state has shot itself almost at the top of my bucket list! More content like this Vice!
Holy hell that was just a good ole cacophony of joy right there!
I love Anchorage. I have been here since 1988. Partied hard at every spot in this video. Good job showin the lower 48 what we really are like.
I love how you are featuring LOCAL anchorage, Alaska, opposed to tourist trap anchorage, Alaska. This guy has great energy. Glad to see some of my fav spots featured.
This is one lucky guy. Living life in the Real World! Nicely done!!!!!
Love this host
THIS was a really good episode. Need more of this kind of content, focusing on places outside of the mainstream focus
Best episode yet I’ve been watching for years upon years I’ve always wanted to move to Alaska turning 50 next month is it to late ? I love the cold everyone who knows me knows that this makes me think I can do it baby and his music is amazing wow cool cool people is so important just be cool ❤❤❤
Do it!
Feels like the old Vice is back, keep 'em coming
Oh man. I hope I can visit Alaska one day. I'm not a huge fan of red meat, but omg I'd be so happy to eat an Alaskan sea creature
One of the most authentic and wholesome videos
It there is any "anti-authentic" word it's "wholesome". It's completely meaningless, but everybody uses it.
Loved the acoustic performance of 99 Corolla at the end! Thank you for sharing!!
I want to be friends with this guy. The wholesomeness of this is amazing. Even the elegant dinner with dad in front of the JCPenny.
He played on NPR Tiny Desk with Quin Christopherson!
Your parents are awesome. But ur dads amazing. Ifeel its never boring with him around! Give him a big Hug man!
This video made my morning, I can now start my day and love life a little extra.
I was stationed right outside of Anchorage and I fondly miss my time up there. It's definitely a must see and travel place!
I love how everybody is such a vibe, sooo loving and caring. Love all the way from South AFrica
Thanks #Munchies. These local tours are the best. LOVE LOVE LOVE that last song -- wish I knew what it was called.

I'm glad Anchorage is getting it's recognition. It's not a large city but it has great food, beautiful scenery close by, interesting people from all over. Lived there for 2 years.
... its* recognition (it's = it is)
What a wholesome episode! Local here in Eagle River. Now I have a few things to cross off my list! I stay in a lot and don't go far. So I now have a plan to go to these places! Such an amazing I'm grateful to live in!

GOOOOOD DID
This guy has an incredible vibe.
Why?
Hey there! This video is so great - I love the idea of Late Night Munchies! I'm always looking for new and interesting snacks to keep in my fridge, and this sounds like a great one! Thanks for sharing!
Surprisingly my favorite episode of this series.
Where you from man?
Right on!! I’m born and raised in Anchorage!
I'd love to see Alaska! I enjoy the cold more than the heat, hell, if there's good jobs there, I might even move! I love her reply about the dad Buffalo. "Bye, son!"🤣🤣🤣
For most it isn't the cold that gets you it's the lack of sunlight. The trick is to stay active, do something, doesn't matter what it is just don't stay at home every day. Outside that, it's a great place to live.
@@_CoachW and extra vitamin D!
Love it there!! Was born there moved to florida and try to take a trip every year honestly just wanna move back there it’s amazing
Worst part is just the constant darkness in the winter months. Summer is the absolute best and heavenly. Sunrise and sunsets are just beautiful. The scenery is wonderful. I recommend visiting during late January just so you can see the worst of it lmao if you can stand that then you're good!
@@pennenoodles agreed, but should also be here during the best and then the worst, see if it's worth it or not

such a fun video! Love all the participants!
thoroughly enjoyed this video beginning to end.
I LOVE THIS GUY FOR REAL FOREVER I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIS MUSIC EVERYTHING
Hadda look up ‘99 corolla. Sounds like a banger.
easily the best ep so far. amazing vibes food and culture, love it :)
When he said "steaks...old fashioneds" I knew he was going to Club Paris. I used to live in Anchorage, and this was one of my favorite places.
Literally the best vice video I've ever seen, brought me to tears from how wholesome it was. I've been in a rough depressive patch for a while now and this was really something that just hit my heart the right way. Thank you.
Brings me to tears that everybody writes "wholesome" in lack of any more specific adjectives.

this was an amazing episode. nick is great dude.
Aw this video was nothing but great food and great vibes! Amazing!
So much happiness. I had fun watching. Thank you!
Great episode! Thank you Munchis
Great episode Anchorage is “the”1 of a kind city in U.S. Vice needs go during Fur Rondy, do some ice bowling, Reindeer racing, snowshoe baseball & see the “traders” from trappers & indigenous. Otherwise, nice job shoutout to Club Paris, growing up there in the ‘80s our parents treated that place like an elite club where they shoulder rubbed from everything on politics oil, construction, union, business… it was so 50’s gangster vibe back then, but just a classic now w/ the best steaks. Love
sharing the of the overall culture of icecream (we love the icecream!) hunting/fishing, coupled with plant based food options.
Hi Benni, looking fresh in that picture
pops seems like an absolute gem
I love the relationship you have with your dad. Me and my dad go out to eat at our spot and have drinks weekly. Cheers to you and yours.
