@@thekingofnipples9806 not exactly true, the point is, that usually fully armored people encountered each other only while mounted on a horse, with a spear.
Yeah usually you wouldn’t have a full front line of full armor knights. You’d have a few but not the whole line. And the ones that did have armor would usually only fight others with armor as well. They aren't allowed to thrust because of rules, but in real battle piercing damage would be used much more often. The reason it is banned is because thrusts might sometimes go through face masks or gaps in armor, which is obviously a good thing in real combat
Lots of people sort of just standing around. The interesting thing about that is that is probably pretty accurate. In movies it's as if every single soldier is paired off, but in reality, 3rd rank and back were pretty much just standing there until the guy in front of them died. I couldn't imagine being that guy 5-6 ranks back just waiting as the enemy advances, feeling helpless, and pretty much just waiting for my turn to face the meat grinder of medieval combat.
I also noticed that they kinda kept rotating. And it was actually common in medieval combat that if you were the 4th or 5th in the line and saw the 3 men in front of you die and your line has been pushed back a lot, to actually flea. Most medieval battles ended with the majority of an army retreating or scattering. Usually the casualty rate was 10-20% (i could be off) but typically the average soldier ran away when things looked bad.
Not helpless, not alot of these guys have spears, when in reality when plate armour is a thing big 7, 8 or even 9 foot pikes were a thing so you would be thrusting and defending your allies as much as possible
Probably not so much waiting for the guy in front of them to die, but rather waiting for him to get tired after a few minutes and swapping places with him. Combat throughout history wasn't nearly as deadly as we believe today. Because our modern industrial type of warfare is insanely deadly by comparison. People really, really don't want to die. And so most will go to huge lengths to protect themselves as best they can. Armor is pretty effective against a lot of the weapons used in those days. The reason all the famous battles were so deadly, was because they were so rare. And that's why they became (in)famous.

A month ago I tried my first Buhurt style battle only with chainmail not full plate armour and even with chainmail it is exhausting. I mean I underestimated it totally. I tought it was exhausting to fight 3 times for for 3 points but no. I did my 2 duels (not even mass battle) and I felt like I was about to sh*t my pants litteraly and I wanted to p*ke out some organs I can't like my prostate or something. For example I found out that I have way more "monster" in me than I tought wich is scary and calming at the same time. Calming in a sence that I know that if I'd ever have to protect myself or someone else I'd do a pretty good job or atleast give the opponent a damn hard time and scary in the sence of once you have tasted how it feels to let the monster somewhat come out it can be challengeing to not use it in any other kind of stressful or demanding situation. I don't think it is bad to have that monster but it is very important to aknowledge it and know that you have it in yourself.
