Honestly I used Amazon during the COVID-19 crisis but now it’s like Nicole said “ when you put things in your cart and wait awhile you forget the urgency of wanting to have it.” I don’t have a membership. However because I’m disabled and cannot drive, I found the convenience handy, and used their ‘30 day free trail offer’ (only when the moon was blue)but I do use it sparingly and shop around in my area and shops that offer delivery. After COVID-19 they do! I would much rather give a local store $10.00 than Amazon.

I pay yearly. I think it's $139. And I don't have commercials in my movies. I think you got that part wrong. Amazon doesn't put commercials in movies. That's Freevie or Tubie or something where you can pay extra not to see the commercials.
I would just say if you want to rent movies sometimes, Amazon is a good option. They have nearly anything you can think of and you can be watching it in seconds at any time you feel like it. Otherwise you are driving to the RedBox and making a very limited choice that you then have to return.

I'm keeping Prime. I've cancelled it twice, and came back twice. People talk about buying locally, and I do that when I can. Then people talk about driving around to buy what I'm looking for. I don't drive. I don't own a car. I've been bicycling as my main transportation for over 40 years. I'm not riding all over town to find an item. I work 6 days/60 hours a week. I'm not waisting my time looking all over the place. I can't ride and buy three months worth of paper towels and get them home on my bike. It's a convenience tax, and I'm willing to pay it.

      @KeonnaDadaj-dg2vc Před 17 dny +1

There's going to be exceptions, but there are a number of people who don't need the membership and may just be uninformed. If you ride your bike everywhere you probably live in or near a city, right? You may be close enough to just pick up smaller items, but not having a car is the real reason for this exception. Plenty of people own cars and live in the suburbs just 5 mins away from most major stores. Also, there are carts and ways to add storage to your bike. You could use free shipping for the larger items. Just my 2 cents.

I LOVE THIS VIDEO! My Prime membership was up for renewal in early Feb at $139.00 USD per year. I did not and will not renew - EVER. I can get everything I need from local stores or other online, LEGIT merchants. The last few items I purchased via Amazon were not the real thing but cheap knock-offs. Just one example: in January, I bought PowerStep insoles from Amazon. The ones they shipped were NOT authentic - not even close. I returned them and at that point made the decision to never pay for a Prime membership again. THANK YOU for this video - you are right on the money!

Let’s not forget: The sales on Prime Days are often a big scam - I’ve seen items marked up to way more than it usually is, just so they can “mark it down” for the same amount. That way you THINK it’s on sale if you have no idea what it usually costs. I watched a video where someone took screenshots of their wishlist, only to see this happen to most of the items they were hoping to purchase for less.

It’s been eye-opening when I see something I’d recently ordered, and then it was on a Prime Day sale or a lightning deal a few days later. Multiple times, it’s cost the same or more when it’s a “deal.” Often, it’s because the regular price has a coupon, but the deal price removes the coupon and then gives a percentage off the regular price. So when they compare to the regular price, it looks like a big discount, but they’re not telling you that on a normal day, there’s like a $40 off coupon. What a scam.

What really bugs me is the way you're placed on autorenew by default, and you literally have to go through multiple screens to cancel or "pause" your subscription to avoid it. @@mtngrl5859 I do support my local community as much as I can. Even after I confirm that a store has something in stock, many times I arrive at the store to find out that they actually don't have what I need in stock. This cost me me about $10 in gas, puts wear and tear on my truck, and cost me an hour or two of my time. So yeah, I often just order it off Amazon, and 99% of the time I get exactly what I need in a couple of days.

I wish it wasn't so good, and I wish there were reliable locally owned businesses that could at least match the convience and price. But the reality is for a lot of people who don't live in or around big cities, Amazon provides the best selection and price.

You don’t have to pay for prime. So I think using it to get things you can’t find anywhere else makes sense, but just waiting to buy what you need until you’ve hit your $35 minimum for free shipping. That’s what I do, and it works great. Good luck to you!

It didn’t matter that the delivery date was 4 days away. I’m normally not that desperate for anything unless it’s produce (grocery store for that). Last week was the final straw though. Amazon dropped off my package at a door I didn’t recognize in the photo and I walked around looking for it but gave up.
A lady walking her dog stopped by the next morning with my package. I canceled Amazon completely that Monday. I also noticed that jumping on Amazon was becoming a habit that I wanted to break, so all is good and I have zero regrets canceling Amazon. I know for a fact that some people need it for convenience like those who may be homebound, so it’s not a one-size-fits-all issue. I can go without it.

What I think about Amazon Prime is a nightmare 😅😅
This was a brilliant video. I fingercross 🤞🏻 for you to pass 50k subscribers.
I hate influencers because most of them do not provide any value to society but low or no quality content. I am glad you are different. 😊

I only really use Prime if I'm looking for a graphic novel I'm interested in along with the occasional 4K Movie, besides that I could do without it and it's always a good morning when Nicole uploads a new video of wisdom.

Hi Nicole! Could you please let me know if you have a place where you sell the instruments. I am looking to buy a ukelele for my son who is trying to learn guitar. I was told the kids usually start learning from ukelele first and then shift to guitar. Could you suggest any brands or any places where I can buy the ukeleles. Your subscriber. Please help.

Learning of the whole drop shipping thing and return process has completely changed the way I look at Amazon.

There are no 'good' options out there for the most part if you use Amazon for business like I do. If a customer needs a part for instance, I can hop on Amazon and have the part delivered 'same day' or 'next day' in many cases. All of the brick and mortar part suppliers in my region are gone. Even if I find the part cheaper at another company the customer generally doesn't want to wait for standard shipping of five to seven days on many sites and any returns are generally arduous. I make more orders on Amazon yearly than there are days in the year, because I will order many times a day sometimes for customers and yes many of those transactions are under the free shipping limit. An example I bought an XLR cable for ten dollars including shipping, which ironically arrived right as I started watching your video. A local music store wanted fifty-dollars for the same XLR cable, which is insane even if I wanted to support their local business. I do appreciate your video for the average home consumer though.

Totally agree. When I do order I always request free shipping. I can wait a few days and actually my experience has been they release the orders earlier and I get them sooner. I’ve cut down from consuming big time. If I need something that day or next I actually jump in the car and go buy it. Don’t fall for people the free shipping and the fees. Monthly annually really means they want you to spend more, don’t do it.

Delayed gratification made things exciting back in the day. The excitement of going to a shop and getting a video game you'd saved up for and then reading the box and looking at the instruction manual in the car home was most likely better than actually playing the game. Kids don't understand this feeling anymore.

I am not sure, the returned items go to a landfill.
I recently ordered Revlon paraffin bath, and received cracked bath with melted wax inside and some missing parts.
It came from Amazon as a new item.
Of course, they returned my money, when I called. And I was the one, who had to send it to a landfill

In my area we have a ton of Amazon return stores - in most cases they have all the random stuff in giant bins for a set price that changes throughout the week, starting at 10 bucks and then if you go on 99 cent day it's literally just broken plastic and boxes of food with 2 weeks left before it expires. Pretty gross but preferable to landfills.

I used to have Amazon Prime, but never use the Prime Video. Also, I ordered more when I had Prime. Now I hardly order Amazon unless I really needed the items. My wallet got fatter without Prime.

Same! However, I can see for someone housebound it could make sense to use it. Perhaps there is a better solution for them like directly ordering from a company.

I actually canceled my Amazon Prime membership because you made the point of how awful it was in your other video. I've made one purchase from them since canceling for over $35, my life hasn't changed at all, & I kept that annual subscription fee in my pocket. It didn't really matter the package took longer to get to me & if I needed something sooner, I went & picked it up. Got me a walk & fresh air. Sounds like a win to me.

I have never had Amazon Prime. But I do buy things on Amazon and will continue to. Why? Because the things I buy from them are not available anymore in the stores around me. I used to buy the stuff in the stores but the stores stopped carrying it.

The best part to cancelling subscriptions is also cancelling the internet bill. The internet bill is the root of all evil... it's a gateway drug to subscriptions.

After hearing you mention this a few times last year, I did not renew back in January. I had so many of my followers saying they could NEVER cancel their membership bc they get such value from it. I was like well we shall see if we really need it. Here we are halfway through March and still do not need it.

I had no idea orders over $35 ship free, no need for Prime. I have it for work. The supplies we use aren't available or available at a competitive rate locally. (Plotter paper for example in my city). Gotta go, headed to cancel Prime.

I have had Amazon prime for several years now. I know I could probably save some money by bundling everything we desire but as a senior couple I often dislike the hassle of driving in bumper to bumper traffic to get to the far-away shopping center. Unfortunately in our area our two options are very limited - Walmart or Amazon - unless you’re after some specialty item. Thanks for the advice.

I've been buying mostly Amazon (and others) returns from a local auction lately. Was able to furnish a house for students at an average of 90% off retail value. As long as you a crafty and can repair things, it's a really good deal. First - things don't end up in the landfill and I do save a ton of $$. The auction company buys pallets of stuff and auctions off single items. It's a been a great win for us.
