- First time checking out "The Dredge", a fairly unique-looking new Killer, as well as the new map and Survivor. This content is currently available on the PTB for Dead by Daylight on PC (Steam) and will come to the live servers on most platforms in usually three weeks.

ALSO, A FEW IMPORTANT THINGS I MISSED:
- Killer can teleport back to the Remnant he leaves when charging his power, similar to Spirit using the purple add-on or Hag teleporting to a triggered trap. This actually is fairly strong in chase. The main counterplay for Survivors is to run into the remnant, which destroys it, or run away as the Killer moves at ~92% speed.
- When teleporting during Nightfall, nearby Survivors get revealed in Killer Instinct, making it more useful than I thought. The teleport speed and recovery are much faster during Nightfall and they kinda become usable in chase, which is crazy!
- The perk Dissolution does not work with Spirit Fury.

I really do hope that the nighttime gets a lot darker, and maybe instead of a glowing white aura they can give it *really* bright glowing eyes during nighttime or something like that

Have it so that all the heads on it have glowing eyes. It would be sick and also add potential lore to how people who see the glow see it as a lighthouse but only end up realizing it's source is a monster that consumes you sending you off to the void
Maybe the killer glowing red, the same way a full-stalked survivor glow (Myers POV), it would look horrifying
One of the more horrifically terrifying killers to be added. Something that you can easily call inhuman.
It reminds me of Nito from Dark Souls
I'm glad we finally have something thats purely inhuman. Even the semi-human ones like Pyramidhead and Nemesis are still human-shaped, the only other one thats inhuman is Demogorgon, and even they are bipedal.

Seeing how this killer has a power that directly interacts with one of the main objects found on every map, it really makes me think why the developers didn’t give the artist some sort of power interaction involving the crows that are naturally throughout every map aswell. Always found that as a flavor lost, maybe in the future they will rework that into her somehow.

I'm not sure how much crows matter in the game as I've never played DBD, but I feel like it's not a big concern to survivors.
Maybe with The Artist those crows could do more than just make sounds and fly away, like.. maybe they continue to screech if the survor remains in that same place? Or.. when the crows start circling a survivor they are shown to the killer as well? Admitedly, that last one would happen quite rarely as far as I've seen--
Well, this is mostly all I can think of... Maybe she could see through the crows' eyes? But I feel that would take a lot of work as I doubt they thought of this before modelling them
@@isky6541 crows are really useful when used right either for surv or killer. They get scared when someone is nearby if they are not going slow or have a perk so they are used to locate survivors

@@isky6541 theres also a perk that revolves around crows for killers. It plays a loud notification whenever someone scares one and you can visibly see the notif.
As someone that doesn’t play the game anymore, this seems like one of the best artistically designed, and the whole locker interaction, and interaction as a whole, looks visually amazing. I can definitely see the locker ability being quite useless sometimes though.
Same for me. I haven't played DBD for about a year and a half maybe a year? But this killer is probably the best looking one I've seen.
Yeah, gonna give the game another go after giving it a break for a year, some of the future changes seem promising so I want to see where it goes. I REALLY like the concept of the game, I just highly dislike the community and the balance
The game is progressing slow but I feel like it’s getting a bit better. The only think left is the toxic community that needs cleansing. The game would be so much fun without the nastiness

This has got to be one of the most horrifying killers I've seen added to the game, design and lore-wise. That mori animation is terrifying to think about. I have to give kudos to the devs for creating a literal monstrosity. Overzealous I can see it being used efficiently if a survivor is diligent and doesn't get hit. Gives more of a reason for killers to hit-and-run to remove that possibility.
Though, I was expecting like a shroud of darkness to be around survivors with Nightfall, like "oh you can only see 6M at any given time", but currently is underwhelming. It would be nice to be surrounded in complete darkness, and the only clear silhouette you see in the distance is the killer, which will make for that extra scare factor.

He looks like a dude's package.. gimmie a break man.. He isn't horrifying in any sense. Behavior should rework his appearance to make him look less slugish.
His melee attack and the recuperation from it looks like you slept on your hand and tried to imitate tyrannosaurus rex.
They should give this booger of a killer a faster animations so it will look at least more intimidating than the sack of skin me grandpa has.

I really hope they make Nightfall actual "total darkness" like its described in the power, as well as remove the weird white aura around the killer. Nightfall doesn't change anything except make it easier for survivors to see you, makes no sense.
It's not about they can't see you, it's about they can't see the environment clearly

@@mrchocoslave7859 IMO You basically miss no vision if anything you only gain a better understanding of where the killer is. If the Vision range was like 10m or something it would be a much better ability.
@@mrchocoslave7859 that's the thing in more well lit maps it hinders the power due to the fact that it is only a problem currently at extreme distances if the pure black wall is anything to go by, the only way it could work like you talked about is in the darker parts of maps (like the new maps mansion) or maps that are dark all together. One thing they could test is just cutting the radius you can see down by like half so it just turns into a pure black wall of fog after a few meters with maybe the rest of the radius you can see in being darker by about 25% to 15%, I'm not saying it will make the ability better it's just my suggestion on how they could test the ability, they should still have some indication on being able to see the killer (like giving the eyes of the dredge (skulls included) all glowing white eyes during nightfall mentioned by a few other people here in the comments. Just my two cents but I feel like that could help. (the radius players can see being darker by a certain percent I can see being broken in darker maps so maybe just a pure black fog after a few meters should be enough)

I think the original killers are only okay. IMO I feel like they lacked after making the twins. But you can tell which is which, licensed are more polished. That doesn’t mean I hate the originals though.

@@darkx6869 All of the strong killers are originals though besides Pyramid Head and Bubba. Nemmy and Demo are decent. Pig, Freddy, Myers, Sadako, Freddy, Ghost Face are the weakest killers in the game.

Darkness Revealed is insanely OP for literally any killer, spawn in, open locker, get 4-5second aura read (potentially) and be on your way.
Definitely a solid perk as of now! Hopefully stays that way

Honestly, it's a better version of Lethal Pursuer. Yeah, it gives you more time but it's gone forever. Imagine having that on Michael, Ghostface, or even Huntress.

I think a cool feature they could add to the Dredge is adding moans/crys from mori'd survivors to the dredge's multivoice wailing

This map is EXACTLY the ideal map I had in mind: A big mansion with scary dark interior people can still hide in, and big open outside spaces with plenty of foliage to submerse in, at night where it's dark, but not too much foliage nor too big a map. And Otzdarva himself says it seems a reasonable map! PERFECT MAP. My new favourite. Unless it proves to suck for some reason.
So easy to hide with the worst of indoor and outdoor maps?
The one issue that has come up is a really strong window at the house that could be trouble for M1 killers but it's not an infinite or anything

@@Phantom-kc9ly "Worst"? Maybe for the killer, and only if it's too bad. Like the foliage in the Swamp maps for example. The house isn't so dark the killer can't find the survivor, but it could help the survivor to sneak around more easily. And the foliage isn't too bad outdoors. A lot of stuff looks like it goes on towards the center of the map, but the killer shack is towards the edge, so it's not like the outer edges are pure deadzone. small enough not to be too troublesome for the killer, but large enough not to be super small either. Personally, I don't think it's too killer sided or survivor sided by the way it's looking, but I could be wrong. We'll have to see the map get more play before it's fully understood how good or bad the map is. So far, I'm really digging it though. Keep in mind: The devs have focused so heavily on anti-looping stuff for killers that it's less of a game of tag now and closer to hide and seek. It was once more focused on chases. So making sneaking easier for survivors isn't a bad idea. As long as it's not too crazy. Like all the reeds in the swamp maps. Oiyoiyoi.
The perk that reveals surv auras when checking lockers will be pretty goated on Huntress & Trickster. Can't wait for that madness.
just imagine septic touch on doctor when he has a massive terror radius, on a map like midwich, you can almost always guarantee injured survivors are constantly exhausted if you dont give them much breathing room. and interrupt them often
The pallet breaking perks and the perk that exhausts people both seem to be pretty darn good for Legion.

As a legion main the vault to destroy doesn't feel useful enough. If a person is getting hit by the power they have no incentive to vault a pallet, and once they know you have this perk they won't vault in general.
@@coletrainhetrick That takes escape options away from them as a result though. Either they continue trying to loop around a palette while you catch up to them or they vault it once and lose it for the rest of the game for a shortcut.
@@10cody7 but they also get an indicator it will happen, legion is much more safe to play against and you can Outlast him for 20 seconds typically if you try that way.

Nightfall really should restrict your vision more.
Overall, even if the killer turns out weak, they are just so cool.
If they restrict vision too much, he will probably be a "new player" bullying killer

Been dying for a killer that really utilizes lockers. The Darkness Revealed perk alone is going to seriously make lockers a double edged sword for survivors I hope.
I hope that Nightfall gets a visual upgrade, to the point of actually impacting survivor visibility. Everything else about the killer is great - it might be my favourite design if Nightfall has a better effect. I love seeing Sadako's power, but much better integrated into the game by using lockers.
One could even say you wish for a visual downgrade...

Right now, the only thing I'm a little disappointed in is Nightfall. When the leaks dropped, I was SUPER hyped to find out the new killer's power would mess with the survivor's visibility. It'd make matters a lot scarier by reducing the information survivors have, as well as bolster his chase somewhat by making it harder for survivors to find loops. Hopefully by the time he comes to live servers, they'll make it a little darker.

Yeah and remove the white aura from dredge. Still let them see him anywhere but remove the aura. Can just imagine it on midwitch on opposite ends of the corridor, you can just see that thing in the pitch black.
They should reduce the radio of darkness for the survivor's PoV so they have a bad time trying to figure out where they are and more difficult to find some loops connections.
And most of all, they need to REMOVE the "white form" from the Dredge. It's more easily to see where he is when you're looping him in the shack, for example. (Between the tables of the wall)
It's literally a buff to the survivor. What's the point of putting them in a dark room if you also give them night vision goggles and aura reading. It defeats the entire purpose of nightfall.

That Mori is so terrifying, every single one of the hands that come out of the dark and stab you are holding different tools, one a screwdriver, one a knife. I think there was even a claw of a crab or lobster. A horrifying cosmic entity, how did it take this long for this game to add a killer like this!

I can't remember the last time I was this into a killer design. Dredge is legitimately terrifying.
True. I don't like anime, and after Trickster, I was scared to see what was coming, but turns out seems pretty good. Good perks that actually gave voice to many complaints, a good map that looks way larger than it is, and the killer's Mori is my favorite easily, although I believe others would have a more fair struggle if the gore was on point.

I don't play the game anymore, but I have to say, I love the thought of being a Survivor, walking past a locker, and getting scared out of my mind by that banging noise as the Dredge breaks through the lock.
Edit: And of course, the "total darkness" of Nighttime is barely an inconvenience - as if they'd make it difficult for Survivors to do literally anything.

There’s a lot i dislike about this game, so much so that it has led me to stop playing it, but I am always surprised at how well the art team is at making absolute masterpieces. They consistently knock it out of the park, and this is yet another shining example of their exemplary work

I have actually found his Power to be useful in chase especially at loops where survivors circle back (i.e. jungle gyms, T/L walls, and even killer shack.) When you press M2 you leave a void behind and then you can continue to chase them and when they circle back to your void during the loop you then teleport to that void and catch them off guard.
But if people just run away then it’s useless

The animation of the scrambling hands when exiting a locker with the killer.. Wow! Really nice touch.
I like the idea of having a for sure item on a rummage, rather then for sure item after opening. IE the medkit one. Because getting a brown tool box + a brown medkit is more interesting then just a brown medkit.
Also if you have someone memeing about good item finds, you don't rob them of their chance of a key or something.
I love the killer design, very creative and terrifying. The chase music is S-tier as well. Really looking forward to trying this killer out, I just hope they make Nightfall a lot more powerful because it's trash right now.
I kinda expected nightfall to work a bit like the abyss from DS1, where except for a small bubble around you its just pitch black with no depth perception, and all you can see the killer looming towards you. That shit would be terrifying. I really hope they change it, cause right now it seems bugged because of how useless it is (at least I hope its bugged and not designed that way)
According to the forums, it isn't a bug that its so bright, but they are looking into it after the communities response. Hopefully they do actually fix it; what I've seen of the Nightfall so far is incredibly dissapointing.

Really think there needs to be an aspect of the killer's power that encourages survivors to use lockers more. The only people really using lockers are new players who don't know how to play the game efficiently
@Arda Kaplan idk, like the only real status' survivors care abt are exhaustion, and exposed. And for exhaustion by the time you need it again, odds are you have it unless you run SB get to 1st gen, then immediatly found, but in that case the locker doesn't matter. Mangled/hemorage/broken either go away after healing and are near permanant, and fall under the same issue for good survivors tend to prioritize gens > healing. Blindenss doesn't matter. And exposed is scary yes, but there aren't many ways to get it that last long enough and aren't noed (iirc the longest non noed/devour is MYC with ~1 min).
And people like me, who run Flashbang and Head On.

@@oneringtorulethemagicarp7199 that is true, he is very humanoid, and I wouldn't hold it against someone if they thought he was another ghost or slasher, but he and Demo are the only two with non-human origins. Nemesis almost makes it, but I still count him as having human origins

The styling of the killer as well as the may itself is extremely cool and interesting, it genuinely reminds me of some creature from Evil Within, every aspect of it is incredibly cool and very unique, I can't wait for it to release to consoles
A friend of mine just got me into this game yesterday and I am already hooked. I didn't get this add-on but I did get Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Ghost Face chapters. :D
I've had games where I do 2 generators by myself without being seen by the killer. With the new Overzealous perk, those 160 seconds are reduced to 151. I save 9 seconds on generators in an ideal scenario using this perk. Except I have to cleanse a totem for 14 seconds. Excluding the run time to the totem and then to the gen which would add even more wasted time, I lose 5 seconds getting maximum value out of Overzealous. It's a contender for worst perk in the game, despite directly improving gen speed.
Hold up, that perk is actually kinda trash! In an extreme scenario of Gen Jockeying, you actually lose gen progress using this perk.
Not always. If you need to kill time waiting on corrupt or dead mans switch.
It absolutely isn't usable on it's own. If you go out of your way for a totem just for that speed, it's a waste. Only if you have totem synergy like inner healing, it's still worthless.
All of her perks are kinda garbo. Inner focus might be helpful for people who are doing sabo/flashlight plays and it's may be good against plague, legion, Bubba. Residual Manifest is essentially pharmacy, but with the flashlight, the blindness is only good if you mess up flashlight save and it's an indoor map with no hooks close, but otherwise it's useless. Overzealous might fit in a gen rush build, but Streetwise/Built To Last/Prove Thyself/Any other perk combo is good enough on it's own.
You only reduce 2,4 sec per Gen

Besides clown, this has to be one of my favorite killers design wise. Reminds me heavily of a necromorph from dead space, all we're missing is Isaac now.

Why am i so excited for this ?!
Shame that the Nightfall doesn’t seem too effective, though I think if a red item were added for The Dredge it could be something like what you had originally thought, where outside a particular radius, the survivor can’t see a thing, like pitch black darkness. The weakness being a much shortened time for each Nightfall, from the 60s normally to like 25-30 second

To be fair I don't think the night was meant to be like we thought it was supposed to, but rather just make it easier for the killer to spot survivors. Imagine going into a locker to scout and you see the survivors much easier than you would normally but they can't see you because you're in it. I'm thinking it's meant to be used in that sense, it would make sense especially seeing as teleporting and all that is faster in the night

Otz, you should check out the Gideon meat plant bug if you haven’t already. There is an invisible platform on the hole on the top floor. The hole with a pallet next to it, when you stand on the left side, you can walk on air.

A while ago when we just had the witch survivor revealed, I thought they were a magician, and I suggested a perk to let them do a magic box trick with the lockers. Im very happy that they went above that and made it a killer power. Very cool!

I like the idea of shattered hope but I dont like how you have to give up a perk slot just to counter boons when survivors can still just clense your hex totems and not have to give up a perk slot to do it
Edit: I just think the new perk should just be base kit, minus the aura read

Bless a totem ok, I'll snuff it now you can't use that totem anymore and neither can I, unless I bring Pentimento. Then the devs can make a boon like Pentimento where they can bless a broken totem
A perk to counter a perk is fine. Also you can snuff regardless.
Well, they kinda do if they have detective's hunch, small game or counter force, is situational but the effect is that with time people will be wary of using boons and wasting a perk slot
Yeah, snuffing totems is the most boring and frustrating counter for totems they could have thought of

If survivors are cleansing your totems, bring Pentimento
If survivors are booning your totems, bring Shattered Hope
But if you bring both of them, then you've effectively turned Boons against the survivors

Yeah, everyone was expecting some sort of vision area around you but instead we got this weird vignette and a bright white killer. It is weird how nightfall, something the killer had to work towards doesn’t have that much payoff. Hopefully they’ll change it to make it much more scary and rewarding for the killer instead of an afterthought for them

the problem with "Septic Touch" that you will see you get exhausted immediatly, knowing that the killer is comming... this perks is good when you know were is the survivor, or in "team fight"
yeah ur right but I guess it’s meant to be used in clutch moments where the survivor would need to heal in a risky place without the safety of an exhaustion perk
I'm digging this creepy look and feel, and the fact he can yoink survs who open the locker he's in. Nice touch. I might give him a spin, I been sitting on my shards too long after all.
Residual manifest is a peel me and my friend did. It's a bit reworked, but the icon is nearly the same
I love how most DBD youtubers are completely ignoring the Remnant part of The Dredge's power, which is arguably the most powerful part bc it gives him some chase potential.
The chase is useless though, I used it and oh my god is he slow. You can also walk through the remnant to destroy it. It has the same counter as pigs power, as soon as you see them use it you can hold w since they’re slow asf when using it.
Otz didn't ignore it. In the survivor part of the video he was trying to figure out how it works and just didn't understand it. There is a difference

@@lynxboi6157 That's why I run the Field Recorder add-on which makes survivors Exhausted for 15 seconds when contacting the Remnant. Trying it with the add-on makes it a win-win if they stay at the loop, but without it it's a niche tactic.

Technically the CJ could still work… as long as the killer falls for it by trying to break pallet. They’ll still pickup the survivor.

One little facet of this new boon busting perk. It gives you 8 seconds of aura reading but shadow step lasts 4 seconds after you leave the boon field or it gets snuffed so it can give you a little extra leway! Just a thought
Did you notice that the Dredge gained Nina's hairstyle after the mori? That must mean that there are so many possibilities on the characteristic features this Killer can inherit from the survivors!
