ECU only throws a code if the solenoid is missing, I went with the non-variable pump and it's been working just fine. I can't tell if engine warms up slower or not, curious what you guys think.

      Hi Victor -
I'm pleased your pump is working well for you, however even the TDIs from 2 decades ago will throw faults for excessively slow warm up times. The newest ones are orders of magnitude more sensitive than in years past. We weren't going to take that risk with our customers vehicles. We also didn't want to jeopardize fuel economy or exhaust scrubber health and longevity by prolonging warm up times. Based on our experience with the older models, operating even a couple *C shy of full operating temp can cost mileage. We did consider the non-shrouded pumps; they're certainly cheaper. That being said, Dieselgeek has always been about delivering the most effective, straightforward, elegant, and trouble free solution for our customers.

A question, the shield that pops up and down around the impeller, is that part can be moved by hand while the solenoid is attached? I purchased a water pump with the same design, still cannot be sure if the shield moves freely( concern is if it is jammed or not) thanks.
