  • Midori Traveler's Notebook (Passport Size)
    The Midori Traveler's Notebook is a Japanese notebook "system," consisting of a leather cover and various inserts which can be placed inside in myriad ways to build a very customizable and personal notebook.
    In this review, we'll be looking at the "Passport Size" Midori as a more portable alternative to the full-size version: Un-boxing, looking at the various inserts available, setting it up, and putting it through its paces.

    Thanks for the inspiration! It got to where I stopped using my full size Midori Traveler, so after watching this video I decided to perform a little leather surgery and transformed my Traveler into a Passport. Much better!

    Good job again. Great idea on the craft folder. I just changed my field notes size notebook with a craft notebook to the way you did it. Always like how you review stuff, it's simple, easy to understand, and as we talked before, there aren't too many men doing videos on midori.

    The midori has always been something I've wanted to try out, I definitely think the larger size would fit my needs. But a smaller one for certain occasions might come in handy as well.

    LOL Great intro to the review! I like the way you've set up your notebook and think I'll switch mine around so the kraft folder is in the back and out of the way. Good idea also to put a tab on your blotter paper - I'm always searching for mine so think I'll add a tab also. Don't know why I didn't think of that myself! Thanks for the ideas and the entertaining review.

    Lovely video with great stuff. I am such a nerd I would have called that " ruler " a triangular scale and used it to graphically demonstrate the scale relationship of the two. A thing that may help with the ink cartridge is a hiker trick. Cut a straw that the cartridge will fit into just long enough to pinch close with needle noes pliers each end. Seal (melt) each end with a lighter while pinching. The ink is will have secondary containment. You may have seen honey in sticks or straws this way. Cheers.

    Great review Bradley, well done! I enjoyed the intro it was really nice and funny too, you have a great sense of humour! I'm currently waiting for the delivery of my regular size Midori, I'm really looking forward to getting into it. I don't know if you know this but Midori sells inserts that are specifically for drawing as they are labeled as such. Midori also sells a clip/pen-loop that I believe can be clipped to the back of the notebook. I also found a really cool notebook that is called/by Zenkraft, they have a unique variety to choose from, I think only one gentleman makes them, you can find some people on CZcams that have already been able to get their own, I just thought you might be interested in it that's why I'm letting you know. Sorry that this was so long, anyways Thanks for another great review, take care!

    @DaniPlanorama Před 8 lety +1

    Great video! You can use a bulldog clip on the edge of the right side of the folder (instant pen loop!) and clip the pen on it. The elastic will hold it in place. I used to keep a pen on my TN "wallet" like that.

  • @aquariaaustin2077
    @aquariaaustin2077 Před 7 lety

    Midori makes a variety of pen loops. There's a leather one that fits on the cover or on, say the Kraft folder. But they also have another version that will stick to one of the refills on the inside. It comes in a size that's about address-label width, and then another that's around credit-card size. Don't remember if the different sizes of stick-on versions accommodate different pens sizes or not, but Tokyo Pen shop has all the info if you need about that.
    I got the credit card size and stuck mine to the Kraft folder. Tucked my Ohto Tasche FP in the loop, and I was ready to rock.

I loved your low-key shade towards the sticker flashing, Washi adorning, insanely long, spikey nailed, surprisingly high representation of the bullet journaling community; in your other TN review. Awesome!! Just discovered your channel! I've enjoyed both of your reviews in the Midori notebooks. Refreshing and informative! Thank you! I've recently purchased a Foxi Fix brand Traveler's Notebook. I chose the 5x7 size (in Espresso) which is my preferred size for journaling and sketching. Smaller than the full size Midori, but bigger than the passport.
    On a side note... Did you ever look into Bullet Jounalling?? "Whatever that is", Lol! In its original form, it's a simple, minimalist, completely customizable system/technique for using any notebook as a catch-all journal/planner. You might like it. Of course, as with the Midori, you will find a very devoted community of artsy/crafty/scrapbook-y people who have run with it and make it their own in very overwhelmingly colorful and somewhat complicated ways!!
    (And for anyone who might be offended in the least... Please relax, life is too short to take yourself so seriously! There's no offense intended).

    Hi Brad, can you recommend a supplier for Banditapple Carnet refills to fit travellers and passport sized Midori's - I am UK based but happy to order from anywhere as I can't find anything on the web in the right size. Many thanks.

    I love your theatric intros. Just found your channel. :3 I got a handmade TN that's 5 x 4 size, and I love it so much.
    Mine didn't come with spare elastics, but I got a bookmark, postcard, 3 inserts with a clear zipper pocket preinstalled, 3 refills (lined) along with an extra clear zipper pouch and a cardboard folder in a gift box. :D
    I'm just unsure what to write in it, lol.

      Sounds like you go a great set to get you going! I know. Having a really nice journal makes it hard to just jot something down. You feel like it needs to be something profound to be worthy of going in the journal.

      @stuffandthingsyoutube I definitely agree with that. Since it's my first TN, or whenever I get a pretty notebook, for example, I always get into the loop of, "I want to write pretty things and make it nice, because the journal itself is nice," if that makes sense.
      But in reality, it just doesn't turn out that way, what with scribbling out and other things of that nature. So my new mindset is: "Whatever my journal is will be, and it's meant to be."
      Some journals in the past have served their purposes unfinished, and I'm starting to realize that's okay. A new journal is a new start. :3

      @@musingsofmessa - Exactly. And you strike me as a creative person, so I'm sure that whatever you put in your journal will be an extension of that creativity, whatever you end up doing.

    Hi there. I saw someone use a small binder clip as a pen holder. She just clipped it on the side of one of the notebooks and slid her pen on that. Great video by the way. I do agree, the other videos of the Midori Traveler's Notebooks can get a little out of hand by some users out there. A little intimidating when you are just starting out.

    Loved your video and have subscribed. I found your channel because I've been learning about Midori Notebooks, but then saw the list of videos about pipes and pipe smoking. I have never been a smoker before, but lately have been thinking about getting a pipe to smoke on occasion. Do you have any recommendations for a pipe and tobacco for a woman?

    As you showed the info sheet that came with it, I saw the words white powder. So I guess they address that?

    I think I've seen a metal clip on goulet pens that slips on the back cover with an elastic loop for pens if you want to check it out :)

      +Brianna Kovac - I think I've seen that, but I want to keep the pen attached within the footprint of the notebook, if that makes any sense. Thanks for watching!

    Hey Bradley! Where did you find the metal page markers? The one's clipped to the Goulet bookmark alongside the paperclips.

    Do you think the passports travelers notebook beats the field notes covers for a jotter wallet option?

    • @stuffandthingsyoutube
      @stuffandthingsyoutube  Před 8 lety +2

      +WithTheGrain - I guess it depends on what you're looking for. The Midori is definitely more customizable.
