  • Creating the look of the car is a fun part of every build. The wide wheels and arches on this mini are defining and eye-catching features, so it's important that they sit right. After they're installed we bring you into a part of our creative process as we play with vinyl and paint to come up with the livery.
    Check back for coming episodes.

    I'm nearly 64, in 1975 I had a 1071 Cooper S, (1963)
    How I loved that car,,,
649 cam, straight cut box, twin inch and a half's
    LCB,, etc, etc,
    those were the days, !!
(long before you guys were born,),,
    atb, from England,,

Pretty hot indeed!!! The fiberglass file sounds like a dog barking late at night at nothing!!
Looks awesome... you guys as a team work so well... you get everyone’s input without shutting anyone down,,, then when all is said and done the end result is so much cooler than going with one person’s solo idea. Well done... well done indeed.

Love the fitment of the arches 'flares' gives the mini the right stance-look. Looking forward to seeing what you've done with the graphics! 😊

I’ll be super excited when I get to this point in my build. Waiting on some body panels. Then I’m going to sand blast the body. Mini is looking great!!

I just picked up a 1275 GT clubman project car. I live in Ottawa Ontario and I've never seen one around here. I see a VTEC swap in its future 😄

Are the tabs enough to stiffen up the fenders? I know it’s common to weld on a new a lip that’s sold to stiffen it back up

Cringed when they cut the body a little, but is satisfied when seeing the new custom wheel arches. Keep up the good work guys! Definitely will know where to go once I want to get my own Mini in the future. Even though I'm from the U.S it's gonna be worth it.

Love the work, planning a turbo vtec build on a 75 clubman myself. Something I'm stuck on is exactly how to choose the best wheels to suit (Happy to cut and flare - the bigger and fatter wheel i can fit the better).
Keep up the good work lads

You can alter the rear arches. You cut the outer skin on a line with the outer edge of the inner arch, trim the inner arch to match and fill the resulting gap with sheet steel welded in. This is called "tubbing" and gives you about an inch or a bit more of height.

Love watching this build and especially love how it's filmed.
With the stripes.. you could have done them in a matt vinyl the same colour as the car, this would have given the subtle look you were after.

  • @joelb2660
    @joelb2660 Před 5 lety

Not sure why you would say you can’t cut the rear arches? Used to be a common thing over here, you just need to weld a strip between the top of the arch and the side panel. A mini tub style.

  • @Semnyi

Will you challenge mad obsession motorsports by racing the mini vtec against project binky? That would be sick. You can ship that little thing overseas no problem... right?

  • @devinfitzsimmons904

What have you done for the rear suspension setup to prevent tire rub? Either on this or other builds. I'm on new cones with highlows, GAZ shocks, and 10" wheels with slight poke. Maybe 2.5 fingers of clearance. I get rub on bumps, especially with a passenger. Anything higher than the lowest damper setting is crazy bouncy... I've read mixed things about putting bump stops on the rear. Thoughts? Are coils the way to go?

hi what about Stevestonmotorco. logo in white on the black background and also give the the stripes a slight retro look by cutting out a pinstripe from that wide black stripe that you have. The old Britax sponsored Minis had something similar, you could even go a step further with paint and give it a worn slightly vintage look.Great project keep up the good work.

Did you guys consider the 225/45 Toyo R888 tires? Much beefier and stickier than the 175/50 Yokos. Really give the car a serious stance and attitude.
