  • The Rooms Stereo Reverberator is Death By Audio's response to the growing list of high-end, multi-mode reverb pedals on the market these days.
    However, unlike the many sensible, grown-up options, such as the Ventris, Big Sky, Space, Atmosphere, and CXM 1978, the Rooms is unapologetically still a Death By Audio pedal!

    Gosh that was truly amazing !! I am so glad to hit the pedal in the end with the expression pedal. That just took it to the next level

    Excellent demo! After picking up the Meris MercuryX last year I told myself "No more reverb pedals". After this video though I now have to have this one too. Like you did, I'm going to search the used marketplace until I find a good deal and probably sell one or two of my other reverb pedals. (Not the Meris though)

    Nice video. Ive had one of these a while and there is one significant flaw for me. The DRY signal isnt the same as bypass. So it makes it extremely difficult to set for more subtle sounds particular ones with a more "realistic" dry mix because the DRY signal is almost impossible to balance with the bypass clean tone sadly. It seems like it could be something as simple as a capacitor. I need to actually bother to reach out to DBA one day... Still a great pedal mind, PEAK is my favourite. Note, if you like this, you might love the Blackskycraft "Unusual EAS"

      @culturite Před rokem +1

      Agreed Dry adds a lot of gain to the signal even when it’s minimally on - still love the wildness of the Rooms efx

      @@culturite the issue is also the DRY signal when processed has reduced high treble content. Its almost like a subtle tone roll off. You can just about compensate but its difficult

      Many issues with dba pedals...have tried to love them but gave up. At their price range you can get top notch stuff[ drolo, cooper, chase bliss] Same goes for red panda and eqd.

      That's inherent in the design, so good that folks are spreading the word on it...if that bugs you then this isn't the pedal you're looking for. Same with the REverberation Machine...screws things up in such a great way, they're not for folks looking for a trad verb pedal, but then there's plenty of those out there :)

    I've had it about... 6 months or so now. I'm trying so hard to like it, but I just... I can't find anything usable here. Maybe it's just not for me, and a pedal designed more for people looking for these kinds of sounds, idk. Not to say I don't like ethereal, spacey weird stuff like this - I'm huge into prog rock, floyd, king crimson and whatnot, but... idk. I've been holding onto it expecting to "figure it out.: I have an expression pedal. I have it in a full stereo wet/dry/wet rig, and it's just... eh. I'd rather throw on a bunch of delays (I have a Keeley Halo, Boss DM-101, and Eventide Ultratap), and use something more straightforward for reverb (I have a Neunaber Wet).
    Any suggestions on something I might be doing wrong? I've sat with this for so long. Watched as many videos as I can find (wish someone like TPS or Thorne had something). Right now, I'm only holding out on my new G3 Switcher to show up, hoping that getting all my wet pedals wired in parallel will somehow unlock it, but... idk. It may be time to cut my losses. But I always want to like it soooooooo bad!!!!!! lol

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  Před rokem

      Not all pedals will be for everyone. I don't think you should hold onto gear you don't gel with, just because you feel like you "should".
      You've clearly given it more than a fair shot and decided that it's not what you want, so I'd say just sell it and use the money to get something you WILL enjoy. 👍🏻

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  Před 9 měsíci

      It definitely has far more pristine quality than I was expecting from this pedal, but I guess at the end of the day, it's still a DBA pedal so there's bound to be some gritty artifacts to the sound that remind you who made it. 😄
      Personally, I think this would be best used as a "character reverb", just before a second, more traditional, "work-horse reverb"...if that makes sense? Trouble is, £350 is a hell of a lot to spend on any pedal, let alone just *one half* of a reverb section...

    Bro your shit ain't accurate. Read yhe manual before you to explain stuff. Mod1 depth is rate of the delay net, that's why the pitch goes up and down my man, the length of the swell is a symptom of longer delay size- bigger samples being taken.
    Edit: nvm Idk if I'm right or not, it does seem confusing to explain, maybe I am the one who needs to read a manual, sorry g.
    It seemed to me like size but idk what mods they are.
    Could you by chance be showing a different mod when you speaking about mod 1 depth control?
