    Gotta love these old yotas. He didnt need a special tool or have to take off anything extra to get the fan off

    (I hijacked my kid's YT account to send you a message....) I have the same truck and same problem and your video was spot on for my fan clutch fix today. Your video was a huge help and likely saved me a bunch of $$$. So, thank you for posting it. The repair was really as easy as you show.

      Ok but where did the original fluid go?? I would think it wouldn’t need a new seal to prevent from loosing the fluid again.

      @@jacobhendrickson8935 Hi... I saw an email with your question. I wish I had an answer about the fluid disappearing. When I pulled the fan clutch, I didn't see any indication of leakage. And, after I removed the bolts and popped the seal, it wasn't "dry" inside but I could tell it did need some fluid. So, I added some only to find out after I put it all back together and installed it that I added too much. The symptom of too much fluid is that it engages the fan much sooner and doesn't release. Loud fan sound pretty much all the time while driving. Definitely annoying and decreased my gas mileage. Moral of my story: go buy a new fan clutch and save yourself the hassle of an inaccurate rebuild. Once I installed the new one, fan noise level diminished noticeably and gas mileage went somewhat back to normal (which was not that great to begin with....). Hope this helps.

    Good job. The silicone oil is expensive, especially from the dealer. But it's much cheaper than replacing the fan clutch that might not work.
    Your floor finish looks great. The concrete team did a good job. In the past, I made a mistake and hired some wrong people to pour concrete and they didn't do a good job.

      For multi-camera edit I use Sony Vegas Pro on Windows 10. For something simple, I use Filmora on either Windows or Mac.

    I had to do this twice haha. The first time I put 2 bottles like you but it was too much. The fan was loud as a jumbo jet at 4000revs.
    So pulled it out again and took the equivalent of half a bottle out with a syringe, put the fan clutch back in, and now it's perfect. I must have had a little oil in there in the first place.

    Thank you for the straightforward video man!
    My fan started making some light squeaking noise when i start my car in the morning (40 deg F) and at low speed 10-15mph I can hear the fan squeaking very lightly but it still bothers me. Should I bother worrying at this point or wait til it loses more power like you've shown?

    You're better off getting an after market if it's around 20$(if rounded up) a bottle, online around $40 for a brand new clutch.

    oil referred to here by part number is a 3000 cst silicon oil. there are also 6000 and 10000 cst available with latter part number saying 3000 6000 10000. you can get similar viscosity oil from hobby stores that they use for RCs for less. many have reported using 10000 cst in towing applications with great success. but please do your own research.

      Excellent information. Here are the silicon oil part numbers for Toyota for 6000 and 10000 silicon viscosity. It's 08816-06001 and 08816-10001. Do you have any links where 10000 CST was used for towing? For the first-gen Tacoma, there are two fan clutches. Fan clutch colored orange is for a Tacoma without the tow package and fan clutch colored green is for a Tacoma with the tow package. I am thinking the difference is silicon oil viscosity inside the fan clutches but unable to confirm it.

      I got the 10000 for my 2RZ a few years ago. Made a tremendous difference. I added an aftermarket trans cooler as well. Great for tow / hauling up mountains in the hot summer with the AC blasting.

    Does the fluid dry out over time, or does it leak out? Im not noticing any oil around the housing.

    What if the fan isn't coming on at all, just buy a new fan clutch? They are only like $50. My truck has 180k miles so just buying a new one isn't the end of the world

      I never see this type of never spin. I only see electric fan not only. In your case yes just buy new one.

      @@saephan34you can't tell but you can test like I did in this video to see how strong your fan is. If not strong you may add 1 bottle to it.

      Auto part new fan clutch doesn't work like it should. I believe they didn't have enough silicone in the fan when you buy one to put in and it still over heat

    This video is garbage other then giving you info on how to take apart and the part number of the silicon. What's needed is diagnostics such as what if fan stays on constantly on how much actual fluid to add or what is the capacity called for in the manual.

      @@alltsab I know I just purchased an Aisin fct-013 off Amazon for $85. That is the OEM manufacturer so rebuild all you want with $40 of silicon and clueless as in how much it actually takes
