Not only is it a piece of history, it’s a work of art, looks cool as hell
My favorite power armor
So much cooler than the T60
Love the simple and aesthetic design of T-45 however I love the large sleek pauldrons of the XO1 power armor.
Full suit of T-45 with XO1 pauldrons would be MINT!!!
I love how it looked in fallout 3 but the bulkiness of modern fallout power armor just makes it look fat
@DrShakamoto. Like em both! I feel the T-60 has both some blocky and smooth elements to it. Kinda like a mix of some if the T-45 and T-51! I usually just end up using whichever I feel like that day as I find em all pretty badass! 😅👍🏻
The power armor was ment for the best of the best to open carry stap on heavy minguns and nukes. They werent invincible to fire power but to deliver more way more firepower to the front lines.
But power armor frame is much cheaper than the entire T45 suit. It allows to use heavy weapons, handle recoil and carry all that extra ammo weight.
@@bionmccool well duh but why would you let an extremely light armored individual with the frame die on the front lines with WMD’s, you gotta have some sort of protection
@@bionmccool would you rather be in a tank with armor or no armor
thats pretty much how they were envisioned. power amour was never meant to be replacing entire units. its much closer to how early tanks were used, very sporadic and where alot of breakthrough was needed to beat a stalemate.
J
So how might real life 21st century ammo (such as special armor piercing ammo) deal with this type of power armor?
Not well for anything except .50 cal. Cannon rounds would swis cheese any power armor.

I like how being "rushed" is rushing a suit of armor that can protect from bullets, lasers, plasma and you can survive radiation without ill effect
i think in universe the main drawbacks of this armor was its weight, a lack of energy resistance and high maintenance. with the first two being worked on in future iterations and the latter being written off as just a necessary evil
Why it's called "rushed" is due to its flaws. Somehow less protective than later models (less DT/DR in game), bulkier (gives agility penalty in FO3 and FONV), and unreliable power source ( T45 relied on energy cells, which dried up rather quickly. T51 and later model use fusion cell or built in reactors). Due to these factors, T45 can only "stablize" the front, not "kick the red back to their homefront".
@@suaowilliam no shit Ling Ling I'm aware of this
@@samueleveleigh2767 you sure it wasn't because it was rushed

I still headcanon that the Brotherhood had T-51 when they arrived in the Capital Wasteland, but since they elected to stay - they couldn't maintain them effectively. Not to mention their numbers were far smaller. They then discovered T-45s in the Pentagon armory with the proper equipment to maintain them. And many more to supply their numbers.
would have made more sense for them to use modified hellfire/x-0 series enclave armor after fo3 moving to fo4, but fallout now has a trend of needing an iconic armor on the cover of the game.
@@blackwoodsecurity531the mainline fallout games(Tactics included) always did that starting with Fallout 1
Personally, the T-60 should've been a T-45 that was modified with parts from the Enclave Shocktrooper and Hellfire power armors - after the East Coast Brotherhood defeated them in DC, and reverse engineered those armors to become compatible with the armor they were using - that would've been a far better lore addition than just making the T-60 pre-war and somehow only be in Boston for Fallout 4's narrative.
Makes sense, given that West Tek had one factory.
The outcast trade stimpaks or ammo for technology the wanderer can readily supply them with loot from either brotherhood or enclave armour once they start dropping If you bring each armour set to the proctor kassan he swap out for better the suit all the way through 45, 51b, advanced mk1,mk2 hellfire so while the Lyons pride were fighting the mutants and enclave they mainly used t45. outcasts were already reverse engineering and creating the sturdy t60 on the east coast before reunification of the east coast brotherhood the show seems to imply the high clerics are holy with the knowledge to create it bringing it all the way back to California Maxon would be legendary now
Good Power Armor now is better than perfect Power Armor later 10/10 quote
Not sure if its intentional but it reads like a play off of General George Patton's quote of a good plan, violently executed now is better than the perfect plan next week
Accurately describes a lot of the Horus Heresy armor marks. Mk V especially lol.
Stealth Armor was created to counter this
I would love to see How the Battles were at The time
@Captain beans I played FO3 a lot, but never any of The DLCs :(
But I plan on Playing them
@Captain beans the DLC was confirmed to be propaganda
@Captain beans I actually haven’t played the DLC yet, I only saw a video covering it. But the terminal entry’s show that the veteran telling the story had multiple versions scrapped because they didn’t glorify him and the team enough.
It’s just a diluted version of reality
Maybe we will get to see an insight into the battles that took place between the U.S. and China in the TV show. The TV show could be amazing if done right.
I don't think it was the stealth suit, I believe they developed EMP, EMP mines and hover tanks to counter. If you think about it, what good is stealth armor versus a juggernaut suit.
As the saying goes: Nothing is as permanent as a temporary solution
T45 is still my favorite looking power armor.
It’s also so cheap to repair! If you think highly of X-01 power armor just think of how difficult it is to come up with supplies to repair it in the field
Easy to repair too, only takes some steel from tin cans and toaster and it will be able to fight again!
same i love how it looks in fallout new vegas and fallout 3
T-51 will always be my favorite but T-45 is a close second.
I wish XO-1 looked cooler
We now need a Forgotten Weapons episode on T-45 armor.
the april fools episode on the chinese assault rifle was pretty good
More like Inside the Chieftain's Hatch, lol
The T-51 was actually as widely used as the T-45 in the war and even in the annexation of Canada. The T-60 on the other hand, only saw use in the late war era.
A similar concept happened in WW2. The US was designing the Sherman, but in the interim, built the Lee as a stopgap using some Sherman parts to get something good enough out now while you perfect something better later
Yes i was thinking same that T-45 PA is like M3 Lee
Hands down my favorite model of power armor next to the X-0 enclave series, looks just awesome
Yeah it's pretty wicked. Gotta love the Tesla variant and the hellfire one.
Enclave's Power Armor designations are not X-01 etc. X-01 was a pre-war prototype of the Advanced Power Armor which was developed much later after the war and they're referred to as APA MK I, APA MK II etc.
T-51 was deployed to the Alaskan Front as well as put into general use with the military, as we see on the occupation forces in Canada shown in Fallout 1's intro cinematic. The T-60 was also being rolled out to units on the homefront before the war, as the military guards at Vault 111 are wearing suits of it.
I haven't seen them wearing T-60, in my game they wear T-51 or T-45
T-45 is pretty esthetically pleasing
*Finds it during the early stages fallout 4 in the museum of freedom*
Neat.
it is literally in the main mission, so you cannot really said that you "found" it
@@TS-ln5ixtrue but you can find more of this power armours in The Military bases or depots of The pre war US army of The comonwealth

Thus its hydraulic exo Skelton framework. To carry better toys.
Need to carry at least 451 teddy bears 😂
The fatman or even The 5.56 calibre minigun
Not just a piece a history, but extraordinary luck as on the West Power Armor was already rare and across the playable areas (not including Alaska in the VR mission) the Brotherhood scooped up most of it

The T-60 was pretty much what the T-45 was suppose to be
The T-60 IS only an improvement of The more cheap T-45 Because The T-51 was so expensive to equip all The troops
@@paufernandezboj5517 Most frontline soldiers were using the T-51. T-45, and later T-60, was used for domestic soldiers. Presumably, the T-60 would've become the new standard after the war with China.
@@CyberController- yeah but a lot of T-45d's where in frontline service still, Because The T-51 was so expensive to equip all The army with It, that's why The T-60 comes to be, at least in Lore, The sad part is that The T-60 only was deployed in The comonwealth Because It was shipped to The chinese front where The bombs fell

Ya, but that design flaw in the chest plate... 🤠
That scene was absolutely harrowing...
That was only fabricated to make a "cool" scene for The series, in reality The penalties of The T-45 was The power consumption and The poor protective power against energy or EMP weapons
I like how the show confirms this by talking about how t45 had a weakness under the chest plate due to it being rushed
"Has no counter measure"
Chinese with RPG-7: am I a joke to you
I mean yeah. You need more than a weapon capable of destroying them to have effective countermeasure, that's why tank and planes are still a thing despite SAM, and Anti-Tank infantry weapon existing.
The chinese probably couldn't organize and or supply equipment in a way that would allow them to counter effectively the new US heavy infantry.
They probably lacked the tank number to match power armor number, and or couldn't meet them in situation they coud leverage their advantage. And probably couldn't supply enough anti armor to their infantry, or it was simply not effective enough as trying to aim a rocket launcher while being fired upon by a 5mm minigun is not conducive to the act of living.
@@benjaminparent4115 Yep. The countermeasure for power armor was stealth armor. Highly trained dragoons with shockswords to perform espionage and sabotage.
Yea you literally needed anti tank weapon to take down just one man. And I’m that time of finding the target, loading the weapon, aiming the weapon, and firing the weapon. The man has already killed dozens of your fellow Chinese countrymen bc he can handle a mini gun like it a toy. And recognize that anti tank weapons are fairly rare even on modern day battlefields
@@cringemeat9430lmao amerimutts cant even beat rice farmers or goat herders, amerimutts got obliterated by the chinese in the korean war and only stoped their advance by threatening nukes, also the un army was 700,000 while chinese only 300,000 so they were outnumbered and outgunned but still won
@@benjaminparent4115yeah I've definitely heard before that the power armor was harder to take out because it was way smaller than a tank, so anti-tank measures were less effective
What’s awesome is how the new show reiterates this idea of them having design flaws. Love it
I want to know what the T46-T50 looked like
I'm actually curious if there was editions like that. Never heard of em'
Yeah that would be awesome
I think the in betweens were just written models that was never produced
You would think that number is based on the year it was designed (such as the B52 bomber) but that isn't qauite how it worked.
The T45 series entered service around 2067 with the T51 prototypes coming into play in the early 2070s. Tests at Fort Strong started on the T51b in 2075. With deployments of the modified T51bs occurring in 2076.
I don't think the production history of the T60 has been introduced in Fallout lore yet. But Bethesda put itself in a corner. While fleshing out the history of the T51b, they didn't leave a window for the creation of the T60. As the early stages of T51b testing was meer months before the war started. The only solution is that the T60 was on its own production outside of the T51b and the T51b was intended for core frontline troops. While the T60 was intended for special forces but became a propaganda tool and thus prototypes were handed off to multiple groups and businesses to be part of the propaganda campaign. It may even be that the T60 wasn't even out of testing phase when the war occurred.
One of the things the X-01 did differently in its design was shielding around the neck. Something that was missing in all of the T series. Which indicates even in the T60 series improvements to the desing was still needed.
@@superdave8248
I thought the T-60 was simply an update on the already tried and true T-45? Explains why the DR on the 60 model isn't as good as the T-51, but superior in terms of RR because of a genuine concern over nuclear war.
May be headcanon, but T-60 was also easier to repair, like its predecessor the T-45. With supply lines being an issue, I could see needing a more rugged and sustainable design rather than a high-performance one.
The T-51 is my absolute favorite style of power armor
I agree. It looks a lot more elegant and well-designed than the t-45 and t-60. I have...mixed feelings about the X-01.
I also like that the t-51 gets the most different and varied paint jobs.
Wasn't the T-60 just an upgraded T-45 for use by a few units only in the East coast area? I got the idea that it was never meant to replace the T-45 like the T-51 was, but more to squeeze the last bit of use out of the T-45 frames left in stock
Literally Apple’s “s” designated iPhones
Wasn't the T60 a retcon? The T51 was the best power armor during the war.
@@blacktemplar2377 I'm aware of the T-51's lore status. I was saying that in lore, the T-60 isn't better than the T-51, it's just a regional modernization of the T-45
@@blacktemplar2377 in 4 yes but they re-retconned their goof in 76 now having the T-51 be superior in all but radiation protection to the T-60
@@blacktemplar2377the T-51 power armor was basically the best of the best during the war, whereas the T-60 was using the scraps of the outdated T-45s and upgraded to maximum potential as the alternative power armor for soldiers.
Basically; the T-60s are the recycled and upgraded version of T-45s.
I believe that T-60 power armor was meant to be a upgrade to T-45 kind of like a retrofit but Bethesda wanted the T-60 to be the "new model" and made it have better stats than T-51
Great video 😊, hope more people know this channel more 😊👍!
Thanks for the like Marc!
Fallout canon now checks out. T-45s have a weakness in the front plate after being rushed into service.
what's really neat is canonically the suits can take a massive amount of punishment. they can take direct hits from rockets and keep going. that makes the protection rating of a suit of T-45 Power Armor comparable to contemporary armored personnel carriers.
I like t51 but t45 and t60 designs are so much cooler to me.
For me, T-51 is my all time favorite. Hands down
@arttheclown9458 not going to lie. I used to hate it, but it grew on me.
The T51 got deployed right? It was one of the main reasons Anchorage was finally liberated and the counter on the Chinese mainland happened before the Great War
T-51 was in production and just getting its first batches rolled out when the bombs dropped. Most T-51 sets were still in the U.S when the bombs dropped, in various states of assembly. There are definitely plenty of sets in the Alaskan peninsula.

But they all had an issue, something just below the chest plate… 😏
too bad it has a faulty welding under the chestplate
I love how you'd get scenarios from Fallout 1 where you get "critically hit for no damage" and they said this was a "rushed model."
you only have the t51b in Fallout 1 and not the t45
I built the T-45 to be my walking around armor, the armor is painted vault-tec blue and yellow and it’s so cool to look at.
I find it funny that the armored vehicles where running off gas when they had miniaturized fusion reactors.
I love power armor but it seems like connecting one to a tank engine would have solved the issue that power armor was designed for.
Course with power armor you get almost the power of a tank in human size but it would have made more sense to apply the reactors to tanks while they developed power armor
I mean you could power a small suit of armor for a long time or an MBT for a few weeks.
Seeing as how while the technology was developed- the resource wars are still going on. Also those tanks would still need oil.
The biggest thing though was the power armor enabled the wearer to hand carry heavy weaponry that would otherwise have to be mounted. The firepower and comparable durability of armor, but with the movement capability of infantry.
Did you know that in Fallout 3, there is a side quwlest where you can get the winter varient of the T-51 power armour, which has infinite durability?
It's Dlc, not side quest unless you mean the one that you can get when helping a ghoul (but it doesn't have infinite durability like the dlc one)

And thats why this armor also has a fatal flaw in the welding just below the chest plate
And the T-60 is even worse because it doesn't even have anything just below the chest plate, just the bare frame
Yeah t45 is impressive and all, but it gives you minus agility in F3 and new vegas. Meaning its useless
Only useless if you rely heavily on v.a.t.s
@@brendanboomhour7606 agility effects your gun skill, meaning it'll also make you do less damage on a guns playthrough
It also just doesn't boast that high of a defense stat by the time you acquire it I tried to get it early on and it was still too mediocre for most mid-late game armour
So the T-45 is essentially the F-4 Phantom of Fallout Power Armor: An early "proof of concept" for revolutionary new technology, and incredibly effective during its debut despite glaring downsides, where the T-51 is more like the F-15, that takes already proven concepts and refines the design significantly using lessons learned from its predecessor.

One thing he didn’t know when this was uploaded (because this was uploaded a year before the fallout tv show) is that the suits have a welding malfunction that kinda has a spring lock effect
It's not a spring lock effect.
A weld is the joining of 2 pieces of metal together typically with flux. In the show, it's stated that the location the weld is made is a very vulnerable weak spot. Those aren't trapped guys in disabled armor, they're dying because they got shot through the armor.

The plus to these suits, anyone could wear them. Like anything, they have weaknesses. Good sniper hitting the joints for example. The issue is ... lot harder to train that sniper than to put on a set of armor.
I like how clean the T45 looks. It’s got a lot of flat matte pieces compared to the others
We need a Fallout game set entirely in Alaska with mutant Kodiak bears, moose, wolves, whales, etc.
My favorite, alongside T60 and X01
I guess you could say the T45’s were the power armor equivalent of the M3 Lee tanks of WW2, only really used as a stopgap tank while producing of better tanks (IE better armor) like the M4 Sherman (T51 armor) and Pershing tank (T60) came out
Basically yes
It wasn't to make you into a living tank. it was to turn you into a living weapons platform. In the lore, there were other variants like " Bombardier " - which had a damn mortar launcher on the back so that bombardier squads could use the 10 mortar shells stowed in an up-armored hard case on their hip ( Left or right, depends on dominant / loading hand. ) - and they just bombarded the area with it if they were sent in to strike an infantry regiment and expected to engage afterwards to mop them up.
You got a source for that because that's badass
They had fusion tech and STILL used oil!?
I mean, you do need oil for most plastics and I hear (haven't confirmed) that moving machines need oil to keep running..
I still like T45, it got that charm and rugged look.
Like how Iron Man walked out of the cave in a giant toaster but damn it was slick.
That reminds me, I still have that T-45 sitting atop the overpass outside of Lexington. Need to pick up that suit later…
I think T45 is an example of how you retcon something into the lore in a good way(T60 being the opposite). Original Fallout lore was T51B was the most advanced power armour before the war. It makes sense that whilst you are producing this advanced composite armour youd crank out production of something essentially made out of conventional armour plate as well stop gap whilst you are gearing up for the more advanced model.
Honestly the T-60 should have been a post war armor made by the BoS.
T 45 and t 60 are my favorite
A chineese stealth trooper vs an American t51 would be interesting to see
T-45 armour has the minutemen decal in fallout 4, so I collect every piece and put them on display around sanctuary, the castle, and spectacle island.

T-51, second suit, pre-war.
X-01, enclave design, post-war.
T-60, brotherhood design, post-war.

Nah you're objectively correct.
What do you mean IF you stumble upon one. In Fallout 4 they give you one right out of the gate.
I might be the only one but the T45 power armor reminds of the M3 Lee in a way.
I guess that means the T-60 is an M4 Sherman
Nice Patton reference.
funny... designers in fallout 3 also made T45 on a whim as well during that game's development. and it still looks sick as hell.

i love the way this armor looks and the t-51 also im not new but know like nothing about fallout so idk many other power armors
The weld bellow the thorax is the weakness on this one, coop said it
Here I got a closet full of refurbished T-45 Power Armors.
i always imagined T-45 power armor to function similar to the Mk1 iron man armor that Tony built in the cave, but a little bit better.
Heavy, clunky, and armored with thick plates, and a lot that can be improved upon, but well protective and more than enough to get the job done at the time.
Guess they never did fix the chestplate problem...
I like how scifi armour looks like an M1 Abrams, while the T-45 looks like some WW2-early cold war tank like the T32 or the M26 lol
Lol when you said we are low on oil had me rolling. So this hole theory is fluid from the jump
the T-45 is probably my second favorite looking power armour right under the T-60
T45 will always be my personal favourite Power Armor. It may not be the best but it definitely looks the best and I just love t45
Reminds u of the tanks they used to use where the crew would choke from diesel fumes.
I sometimes genuinely wonder if power armor will become practical in the coming decades. If batteries continue to become smaller and more efficient, the protection against small arms fire that it provides might be worth the cost. It would be a sort of infantry/tank hybrid, and would be ideal for nullifying suppressing fire from the enemy.
