The Exploding Pingi Dehumidifier and its Replacement

  • Back in November 2021 I purchased a Pingi LV-A300 car dehumidifier to keep the inside of the windscreen of my LEAF clear on wet mornings. The little bag did a great job and dried out well when microwaved, however, after a few months a hole developed in the bag whilst in the microwave oven.
I was able to sew the hole in the bag up and stop the contents escaping. Last week I was drying the LV-A300 in the microwave once again when it suffered a catastrophic failure!!
I decided not to purchase another Pingi LV-A300 and replaced it with an Eco Ventis Dry Now that I picked up in Tesco for £5.30 (Tesco club card offer). I am curious as to how this new dehumidifier will last. Hopefully longer than the Pingi LV-A300!!

I mean, the first time you put it in there the indicator was still blue which means it didn't have enough moisture in it yet...then you complain that it burned...

I would dump the beads into a sock and tie a knot in it to hold the beads in. Test the sock in the microwave for a few times, as some material might not microwave as well as others

The ones I have are designed for being dried out in the sun. So I leave it on my dash and it absorbs moisture and odors and dries itself as it sits in the sunshine. I’ve been quite happy with them. I think they are charcoal and something else. Maybe silica gel beads like yours.

It's rather limited with sunshine during winter times, which this is designed for.

Was you microwave at 600w? I had the same issue until I realised my microwave was too high. I couldn't change the microwave setting do just reduced the time

My microwave has a power level so I set mine to level 5.

How is the thing holding up after 9 months?

After owning 4 Nissans, all of which somehow build up moisture inside, and my other car brands don’t, I am convinced it’s a design flaw on all Nissan cars. Just my 2 cents

This only can happen if your microwave is not clean and has greese on it and when you don not do it like the manual says, i have been using them for years and never had this problems. buy the way your replacement is a copy of the pingi version, they invented this.

Thanks for watching 👍 I always wrap the bags in tissue before microwaving so they are not in direct contact.
