Hersheypark has officially closed Wildcat, the first wooden roller coaster built by Great Coasters International, or GCI. We all know it'll be much better as an RMC but I've always been a big fan of Wildcat and will miss the ride.

FR they're buggin, Comet is so good. It's got all the forces and pacing of Wildcat but without any of the insane roughness. Super good ride, way way way underappreciated.

I feel like I gotta defend myself as a Hersheypark ride operator, because when it comes to dispatching the next cycle & preventing the stacking of trains you're only as fast as your slowest person. For example: I can unload/load Storm Runner before the other train has returned to the station; even though I only have about one minute to accomplish such due to the short ride duration (which is even more difficult considering those Intamin vest restraints are a pain to unlock/lock sometimes, especially with their specific seatbelts). However, the trains will stack regardless of my efforts if another operator is still checking restraints.
I take a lot of pride in doing my job both safely and efficiently (as do many of my coworkers). Additionally, I'm not saying you were speaking down on Hersheypark ride operators as a whole. I just wanted to provide an explanation for anyone in the comments who hasn't worked as a ride operator, and clarify that the efficiency of a ride can be described with the saying I used prior, "you're only as fast as your slowest person".
All the ride ops I’ve seen at HP do their job well. It’s usually the riders that slow things down.

If it makes you feel better, Ryan got this video out four days after Coaster Studios. His ops are clearly worse than Hersheypark's.

Ive been a ride Op at 8 different attractions at Disney and Universal, I will definitely say slow operators from people who dont care and guests dimensions/listening to rules keeps the wait times longer.
can we just appreciate how well Hersheypark takes care of their rides.Almost every ride is repainted and well maintained. And I swear they changed the restraints on skyrush from the light blue to the dark blue ones that don't hurt as much.
RIP Wildcat. We will never forget all the fun memories on that coaster and how much fun that ride is! (1996-2022)

Hey, my wife and I were there that day! It was our first time at the park, and we managed to get all of the credits. We were originally planning to go mid-August, but we moved up our trip just so we could get a ride on the OG GCI (RIP Wildcat) lol. Got our ride on the very back, and we honestly felt it wasn't anywhere as rough as what some made it out to be. Its legacy lives on, but I'm definitely looking forward to what the future holds!
I didn't know you guys were there until after you already had left.. I ended up getting last train on Wildcat (excluding the Pantalone family, they got to ride right after us, im very glad for them.) Was a super fun day, even if Wildcat was never my favorite..

This was my first ever rollercoaster! 😢 the wildcat opened when I was 6 years old and I was just tall enough to get on!! It was the beginning of my coaster obsession. I remember getting tossed around between my mom and dad and loving every second! ☺️
Haven’t ridden skyrush, but it definitely looks better than hyperion. The first half of hyperion is insane, but after that a few hills whiff and there’s a bit of a shake. Skyrush’s airtime just look relentless start to finish
I just got home from a trip to Cedar Point for the first time, and the ride operators had a round of applause for hitting 28 trains in their first hour on my last day there! I can’t wait to go back, it’s such a different vibe from my home park. Made me realize that now that I’m able to I need to take more trips to parks lol. I’m excited to see what Wildcat becomes, I’m going to miss it but man does Steel Vengeance give me hope.
RMC only makes things 100 times better than they were before. At least the ones I've been on. Next time you're in Ohio, don't sleep on Kings Island. I live 45 mins away from CP, (home park obviously) and just got home from my 4 hour drive trip to KI about 15 mins ago. Rides are better at CP, but the park is better at KI. Especially the ops. Hope you got to ride SV everywhere on the train too.

I visited Hersheypark for the first time last month and Skyrush was by far the most intense coaster I've ever experienced, I thought I was gonna die
I remember this coaster bring awesome when it was first open. I haven't been on this ride in many years, but I do recall that it didn't live up to my memory.
Hersheypark is my homepark. This season has been the craziest season ever. The park has been jammed packed almost every single day this season and it's been non stop. ( it sucks for me, season passholder, but great for the park). But Hersheypark has really been stepping up their game the past 2 years. Now with this new RMC conversion, they signed a contract with B&M that their next 5 coasters will be B&M. So the future is looking very bright for Hersheypark.
Wildcat wasn’t the greatest wooden coaster in the world, but it was alright. Wildcat will be missed.
I've probably ridden Wildcat more than any other ride anywhere due to short wait times. Such a fun and wild ride, one of the better ones in the park I always thought. RIP
I'm honestly happy that Wildcat is going away. It gave me headaches and one time, I thought I got a concussion on that ride. Haven't ridden it since 2016 with no regrets. Sad to hear that Lightning Racer was rough. Haven't been to Hersheypark in 2018, but my panic disorder + getting stuck on a coaster behind the station this year means that roller coasters are pretty much a thing of the past.

Of the amount of times I have ever been to Hersheypark even that Hersheypark is considered one of my home parks I have never ever seen a big line for Lightning Racer.
I love your videos man. I met you once back in 2018 when you were working top thrill, however I didn’t know who you were at the time and just noted that we were both named Ryan. I’m now in my junior year of college as a mechanical engineer, and when I graduate I plan to be a roller coaster engineer for my dream company RMC. Although I’ve always loved roller coasters and thrill attractions, I just want to thank you for your videos, that really opened my eyes to what I wanted to do with my life, and how I wanted to help the thrill industry.
Everyone always forgets comet at Hershey and I feel like that's a unforgivable crime.

I was there the week before you and Fahrenheit had the third train off to the side with the dummies then! After binging some of your videos I've become more aware of coasters as I'm standing in line for them.
But having moved to PA (from NJ lol) within the past few years I've been able to go to Hersheypark more and I'll say I was lucky that I got to ride Wildcat in the pouring rain once! No one else in line so they just ran us through again. It was so much fun!
Rode this for the last time a few weeks ago and it truly put "wild" in WILDcat. I have a kidney stone that needs removal, so I called this ride The Lithotripsy.

Gonna miss the old Wildcat. HP is my home park and my family would always get there in the morning, ride Canyon River Rapids (RIP) and Tidal Force, then dry off riding Wildcat and later Lightning Racer. It’s weird to see the park so crowded nowadays, but I’m glad they’re succeeding at least. We’re planning a reunion trip next fall, so hopefully RMCat is open by then!

Absolutely the best candidate for an RMC imo, I’m just disappointed that they didn’t use it as a cocktail shaker at least once.
I went the day before you. It was my first visit to the park, I drove 6 hours for wildcat + all credits. My train on wildcat broke down on the final brake run and we got evacuated. It didn't reopen that day- I couldn't have been luckier !!! The intamin lineup here slaps as expected

As a kid my family did a yearly family reunion trip to Hershey Park. Wildcat was always my favorite ride as a kid. As I got older it started making my bones hurt, but it still is a very important coaster to me. It'll be missed. Sad I didnt get a chance to get up there this year for a last ride. :(
I'm happy this is getting removed for an rmc. It was to rough to enjoy and I've been to the park multiple times. Comet is so much better in my opinion and I didn't get any forces or airtime on wildcat, just a headache.

As someone who's also got Hershey as their home park, I can also confirm that the lines for Fahrenheit are stupid long. The last two times I was at the park, the only ways I was able to get less than an hour wait was by riding either at the very start of the day, or at the very end. To be fair though, I'm pretty sure that one isn't the ride ops fault, and has more to do with how the trains are *small* and can only fit 12 people each.
Ive never seen anything like fights at hp. I think its one of the premiere parks on the east. They have something for everyone. Family rides , thrill coasters , and classic rides. It is definitely worth the money for the admission

One thing about the MF ops, I think guests are slower than they used to be, esp. on the GP magnets. It's always something.
Comet blew me away in 2020, but rode WC 5x, I'm a sucker for short lines and I like the layout more than Roar. Hopefully the extra woodie maintenance will now be diverted to the the remainders.

I live close enough to Hershey that I used to go there every summer. I love the wildcat, it was my favorite. I love a bumpy wooden coaster and it never had a line. I figured that they would replace it sooner or later since it’s not popular.
I went two days before this vid went up, on a Friday, and most rides were no more then 15-20 mins. except for Great Bear, Comet, Fahrenheit, and Candymonium.
Now that Wildcat is gone, Roar is officially the worst GCI in operation. Wish I could’ve ridden it anyways. Guess I’ll have Lightning Racer at least.

I grew up with that park and that ride had to be my last ride. I could ride coasters all day but when I rode the wild cat I was done for the day. Great ride just to rough.

I will say that after my concussion in 2009, wildcat because too rough for me to handle. I’m sorry to see it go because I remember riding it the year it opened, but I’m looking forward to trying out the new version of it

This might be a good problematic roller coasters Ryan it just feels like Candy literally can’t quickly enough dispatch for three trains and as it’s my home park I’ve only ever rolled through the brake run like twice in three years and maybe 40-50 rides.
