Corrections and Clarifications:
1) Players can take more than one "Tableau ops" or "Trade Fair" during the same turn, provided they are different regions (i.e. 1 East and 1 West). You cannot take two of those actions from the "same" region in a given turn.
2) "Trade Fair" I explain that the convening player gets 1 Florin from the bank. This is incorrect. While the convening player does get 1 Florin, it comes from the money on the trade card. Remember 1 Florin is added to the trade card from the bank with1-2 players, while 2 is added with 3-4 players. The convening player receives only 1 Florin of the total amount on the trade card, regardless of the number of players. (My explanation was geared more towards a 1-2 player game, missing the way this is handled in a 3-4 player game).

One of the very few physical Pax Ren 2E tutorials on CZcams. Great job.
This is one of the best video tutorials for a board game I’ve ever seen. I don’t know what it is... you’re just great at explaining rules.
Thank you, very much! I’m glad the video was helpful. This is a great game, and I hope you will enjoy it!
Yeah, no kidding! He needs to get paid by Phil to do all his games!
I've gone through probably hundreds of board game tutorials on the CZcamss, but your tutorial is easily the best tutorial for any game of this level of complexity that I've ever seen. Liked and subscribed, and hope you are able to produce more.
This is such a good tutorial.
One of the best I've seen in years.
Most other video tutorials end up being very ambiguous and leaving me with just more questions.
It would be awesome seeing some tutorial for Cuba Libre, Pendragon, Fire in the Lake, Imperial Struggle, Pax Emancipation, Bios Megafauna and Nevsky from you. :D
Imperial struggle and Nevsky are both on my list of games to learn, haven’t had a chance yet!
Probably one of the best ever made tutorial! I hope you're enjoying other Phil/Matt's games and see more of your video
This is the teach video of Pax Ren 2e everyone's been waiting for! Thank you so much!! And 1000x yes to Solo teach video! :-D
Still waiting for that solo teach.... ;-P Sorry I had to ask!
This video has been worth 1 million Florins to me. Thank you...
Good teach, very much appreciated.
One thing to note... the Tableau Ops actions can be done twice in a turn, but East or West can only be done once each.
Same for Trade Fair I think... you can't run East Trade Fair twice in your turn, but you could run both, costing both of your actions.
I am glad you enjoyed it!
You are 100% correct on the tableau ops and trade fair. I have that correction notated in the subtitles.
One of the greatest tutorials ever - as simple as that. Please go for the solo mode as well !
What an excellent video tutorial. It cleared a lot of the confusion I had with the rulebook. You've got a subscriber, sir !.
It's been a hot minute. It's time for that solo play video! Thanks in advance! ;)
Thanks a lot for this great explanation! Very clear for such a heavy on rules game!
Thanks for the wonderful rules video. Your explanations are clear, concise, thorough and organised. This video was extremely helpful for learning a very tricky game. Well done!
A ridiculously amazing tutorial. Wow.
Excellent video, very didactic, covering the whole rule, in the smallest details. Congratulations!
Great job! Thank you for this fantastic tutorial!
Amazing video, hands down the best Learn to Play for Pax Ren 2.0
This video was fantastic. Thank you.
Great tutorial! Big thank you!
Just got this game, this video is a godsend, thanks very much
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you. Very nice and clear instructions, nice editing details and clear speech (extra important for those of us with english as a second or third language). Very well done 👍👍👍
Thank you very much! I am so happy the video was helpful for you!!!
Fantastic tutorial!
Thank you!
Great content. Very useful. I appreciate your effort. Thanks a lot.
Great „how to play” video. One of the best I’ve seen. Thank you, I’m sure it took a while to produce that.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully it was beneficial for you. Yeah, it took two full working days to get this video made 😅
Thanks for the easy teach and tutorial. You explained it so well. Subbed
Brilliant! Would love to see that solo video
Great tutorial. I used it to play my first game today. Myself and 2 other players.
Explained it to them, with this video as my basis for understanding and demonstrating.
We played for about an hour. The other players did well at following my limited instruction/demonstration. I did well at grabbing Kingdoms before they understood the importance. I was obvious for the feudal victory. But the other players bought the first comet card, and unlocked the religious victory. But I was also a good contender for that victory as well. So they knocked me out of a religious win, but I stole a kingdom from the player with the next highest, ensuring my lead for the feudal victory.
Again thank you for the tutorial. Great seeing the hand motions too.
Great video I always come back to when I wanna take out that somptuous game!
Thanks - this was super-helpful!
thanks for the tutorials, well explained...
Great tutorial, thank you
Very good explanation
This is a brilliant rules explanation video. So easy to understand withe way you present it. Please please please can you do a solo run through as I am struggling to get my head round it. It would be a massive help!
Excellent vid. Thks
Great video!! Would love to a video explaining the solo mode.
I will definitely do one!
Great tutorial
Great you made a video about the game. There is rarely anything about it on CZcams
Great video
Nice to see the little Sheburashka on the miniature 😉👍🏼
What a great video .. thx..
Life savior! Just received the game and I need to see this video before jumping in the rulebook. Amazing job thank you pal!
Hopefully it will be helpful for you!!! But be sure to let me know of any mistakes after you go through the rule book!
@@matenason it will a long process, but yes if I spot sth I ll let you know. Really thanks for your video again!
After watching this (great tutorial by the way), I only discovered one thing that was incorrect when I read the rules. I had to come back to make sure. In the CORSAIRS Op 51:32 you say you move the ship one space.
If I understand the rules correctly, you can actually move the ship to any adjacent sea space adjacent to the Kingdom on the card, or any adjacent sea space to a Kingdom adjacent to the Kingdom on the card with the CORSAIRS Op. So in the example you were showing moving a Corsair adjacent to the Ottoman Empire, the pirate could move to either of the sea borders on either side of the Ottoman Empire, and it could also move to the sea space on the west border of the Papal States. So the legal moves for that Corsair in your example should be: Ottoman / Mamluk border or Ottoman / Papal States border or Papal States / Aragon border. The only other restriction (not mentioned in the video) is that the border it moves to cannot contain a pirate of the same color.
Some details/mistakes I’m finding as I watch (I’ll review and expand later):
19:36 - Trade fair profits: before starting the fair, you need to add extra florins from the bank to the face down card (1f for 1/2 players or 2f for 3/4 players). Only after that you take one florin from the face down card (not the bank) and give it to the player who starts the fair. Even when two florins are added, the player who starts the fair still gets only one initial florin as subsidies.
Thanks for that point. Technically it is added to the card first, but on page 24, rule G2.b states: Emporium Subsidy. The player who convened the trade fair receives 1 Florin out of profits. So that $1 goes from bank to card, then card to who started it; while I just described it going straight to the player who started it for simplicity. If this takes the only profit, the voyage ends before it begins and G3/G4 do not occur. So the acting player will gain gain that 1 florin from the bank. I’m not sure if this is different or not from first edition.
@@matenason My point is, that would only be the case for 1-2 players, but if it's 3-4 players, you need to add 2 florins to the face down card, not one, so with your system, trade routes in 3-4 player games would be missing one florin.
@@higochumbo8932 Oh my god, you’re absolutely right!!! The 1 or 2 florin difference based on players is in the video, but you’re right, my explanation is not clear at all in this case! Thanks for correcting me. I’ll get a subtitle in with this!
@@matenason No problem. I haven't finished watching the video or reading the manual yet, but I'll let you know if I spot something else :)
@@matenason hi, great playthrough but I noticed that the corrected subtitles are incorrect still - 2 florins are added to the facedown card in a 3-4 player game, but the activating player still only receives 1 florin from that. Your subtitles say the player receives 2 florins.
Impressive teach!
32:44 Regime change: "If you cause a Regime Change in an
Empire that has Repressed Tokens, even if they did
not fight in a Battle, you may move any or all of the
Repressed Tokens from the Empire Square onto its Map
Location (into either empty Cities for Rooks or Knights,
or into its empty Borders for Concessions)." - so IT IS AN OPTION (YOU MAY, NOT MUST).
33:30 also You can place a Pawn between Papal States and Holy Roman Empire. It is important if You want to do a peasant revolt.
Subbed. This is not an easy game to teach. You did it well.
Thanks Ben!
29:19 As per the rules book abilities on cards are also suppressed by bishops
Silenced Abilities: A Bishop also silences any listed Ability, e.g. ransom or Stadtwechsel.
However, Prestige and Abilities granting immunity to silencing are never silenced.
Fantastic tutorial. The game looks straightforward but the rulebook makes it a nightmare to learn!
awesome teach
Great video! I would enthusiastically recommend a video for solo play and/or a video on strategy based on your experience.
I thought you did the intro only for Pax Renaissance but apparently it's your channel intro ^^- anyway great content for a complicated game to learn
Great work! Your explanation is very clear and makes the game much simpler!! Did your tutorial contain the ‘whole’ rules or should I still need to read the rules before our first game? Just asking because I consider going over the two rulebooks quite daunting.
Kudos on a creating such a great tutorial! I do find seeing Cheburashka in your videos a tad strange though. :)
Great tutorial!!!! Please make a how to play SOLO video!
Very nicely explained, gosh it’s complicated at first run-thru, lol.
You did an AMAZING job teaching. Can you teach me more games please😅. Would love to learn Oath or Pax Pamir 2nd Edition from you.
Well. This is basically perfect.
Thanks for a great video!
Is there any chance you have a summary of all the rules you display (in red) in the video?
They seem to reflect the situation fairly well
53:54. The word is ‘lose’ not ‘loose’.
This was amazing! I would love to see you cover Pax Porfiriana and Pax Viking aswell!
54:07. Why is the attacking knight lost when there is no defender? I thought it was 1 for 1 loss in a battle. This should be a a win for the knight with no losses.
Good instructional video but you should watch for typos (e.g. thier, manditory, allowd)
In the explanation, you said it is optional to liberate any repressed pawns, but the Clarification said it is NOT [38:06].
According to the rulebook under glossary, during a REGIME CHANGE, Emancipation of any or all repressed tokens are optional. Your Clarification at [32:39] seems to imply that Emancipation of repressed Knights/ Rooks are required if there are still empty cities available.
The way you simplify TRADE FAIR by taking the first Florin directly from China is okay for 1-2 player game, but may cause a confusion for 3-4 player game when 2 Florins are added. The player who convened the trade fair still ONLY receives 1 Florin out of profits. The text at [19:39], “Receive 2 Florin in a 2-4 player game” should be corrected as 3-4 player game.
Manditory at [32:56] should be spelt mandatory.
Yep I agree according to the glossary under REGIME CHANGE Emancipation is optional.
in a 2 player game i can choose that this game we are getting 1 or 2 florins for starting trade route?
your game, do whatever you want
That mic stand on top of that player board... such chaos
Why Cheburashka is on preview?
Can I ask you a rules question? I was trying to play a jihad one shot against Hungary as it was surrounded by Islamic pieces, but Hungary was a vassal state of The Ottomans at the time, do I still claim Hungary as a Vassal state if Both Hungary and Ottoman Empire are in my opponents tableau? Seems an odd situation as I used the ottoman units to attack Hungary and all these kings are with my opponent.
I think the profit from trade fair not added to your personal supply, but added to the trade fair card where you run the fair.
That’s a good question. Technically it is, but on page 24, rule G2.b states: Emporium Subsidy. The player who convened the trade fair receives 1 Florin out of profits.
If this takes the only profit, the voyage ends before it begins and G3/G4 do not occur.
So the acting player will gain 1 florin from the bank. I’m not sure if this is different or not from first edition.
Ah yes, actually you are correct, I thought it will be added once more after that, but it looks like that one florin goes after all to the player who trigger the fair
He said "the Kingdom of Aragorn." This is not Lord of the Rings.
720p.... ugh
