  • There’s an issue I've ran into and I know a lot of you have run into it as well. And that’s trying to set up a smart home device that specifies that it needs a 2.4 gigahertz connection. But the device just isn’t connecting and it won’t seem to work.
All you need to do is temporarily turn off your 5 GHz and this quick video shows you how.
Once you turn off the 5 GHz connection, the set up should go fine.

I made three calls to optimum Internet provider and try to troubleshoot a Moen leak detector that I have since come to find out runs on 2.4. These people could not figure out their way out of a paper bag. They send a technician out to my house. The guy could not wait to leave he did absolutely nothing. If it doesn’t involve changing a router he’s clueless. Thanks for your help this was very helpful

This video was perfect! I spent some time trying to connect my new robovac to my 2.4GHz wifi. Although, my phone was only connected to 2.4G, it would not connect. I watched your video, logged into my router, suspended 5G and voila. It took about 2 minutes. 2.4GHz product users everywhere need to see this. Most are unaware that, although their controlling device is only connected to 2.4GHz, having a dual band router somehow confuses the device being connected and the connection just won't occur. Thank you for your tech advice. Liked and subscribed.

OR 3RD OPTION: if you have an older device like a dell laptop or something, they most commonly use the 2.4ghz frequency and you can check using the wifi options information section.
I set my laptop(uses 2.4ghz) right next to my Roborock while pairing to my wifi and my Roborock caught onto the 2.4ghz frequency my laptop was in. I was still in the 5ghz zone but it caught onto my 2.4ghz frequency just fine and connected without me having to go onto this website or go outside the 5ghz zone :) like the comment if it works!

If you cannot get to your browser to turn it off, you can try this: once you phone is selected to work on 2.4ghz, it may still be getting a 5ghz signal. So walk away from the routers signal until it looses connection, then start walking back, and it should only connect to 2.4ghz wifi.

@@UTILITARIANTVUK I'm using an RBK853. Was trying to set up a smart plug that only uses 2.4ghz. You are right, lowering it to 25% and unplugging any satellites you are near seems to be the only viable solution I could find as you cannot completely shut off the signal for whatever reason. Thank you for your help!

You are the best. The only one that worked. I was trying for about 1 hour. Walking outside the house looking like a mad man trying to use the low wifi🥹. This worked straight away. Thankyou

Hi, I saw you commented a few days ago and hope you would be able to help. I don't have the option to turn off the bands individually. Only as the whole wifi? Have they changed how they do this? I can the see the different bands in advanced settings, should I the name of 2.5ghz to something different and connect my phone to it then do setup process for smartdevice and then rename back to the original? Would that work? Please help!

Just make sure you are using the router user name and password and not the wireless network name and wireless password.

Is there any way to move the lights further from the router to set them up? Once set up it should be ok to return them to the TV. I did it here with a smart bulb. czcams.com/video/892y3_o8nF0/video.html
