Brisbane lions did the freezer thing quite a lot in 2001 and really had a lot of success with it.

There’s something about Melbourne weather that makes it so strange. I remember rod laver arena on a 44 degree day. Ridiculous. 25 ish degrees in Melbourne is pretty much mid to late 30s anywhere else. Idk must just be no breeze from the ocean or something that makes it that 🥵

When its hot on dry northerlies, by the time it gets to the city theres often not much wind. No mountains north for many kms and it's quite a basin too which means sunny weather, and because of the bay no sea breeze on a northerly. All these things can increase the temp by 8-10 degrees easily even more in the sun.

@@robspunk very true. It just comes a bloody Furness. So different to living in a sea breeze town further down the bay like i do

@@thelostmediapodcast So do you reckon Brisbane 30 degrees is different to Melbourne 30 degrees? Grand Final yesterday was about 30 degrees and everyone was saying that Brisbane will be used to the heat, but maybe it affected them differently to Brisbane heat.

If think of Port Phillip Bay as not really The sea (think a big lake) Melbourne is 40km from the coast.
