Polish Trains in Legnica - Pociągi w Legnicy - Bahnbetrieb in Liegnitz

Located in southwestern Poland, Legnica is served by local trains from Koleje Dolnośląskie and long distance services of PKP Intercity. The historic station building dates from 1927.
The lofty canopy spans 4 tracks and actually is of the same design as the much larger variant at Hamburg Hbf. While the elegant terminal building has been stylishly renovated, the platform canopy still needs a restoration as it has seen better days and is no longer rain resistant. Legnica is located west of Wrocław in Lower Silesia and the fastest, scheduled train time between the two cities is 38 mins. Outside of the station, the 2-10-0 steam locomotive Ty2-540 is on display. Der elegante Bahnhof im niederschlesischen Liegnitz (Legnica) wurde in den 1920er Jahren durch die DRG erbaut und hat daher eine architektonische Verwandtschaft mit anderen Bauten aus dieser Epoche. Das stilvolle Empfangsgebäude ist zurückhaltend dekorativ gestaltet und attraktiv renoviert. Die einschiffige Bahnsteighalle ist eine kleinere Version von jener am Hamburger Hauptbahnhof. Der Personenverkehr ist vor allem geprägt durch die gelb-schwarz-weissen Elektro- und Dieseltriebwagen der lokalen Woiwodschaftsbahn KD. Aber auch gelegentliche Fernverkehrszüge von PKP IC halten in Legnica, wie auch die EuroCity-Nachtzüge zwischen Wien und Berlin.
