  • Alex and Mollie Damon from the CZcams channel "Star Wars Explained" answer Twitter's burning questions about the Star Wars universe. If they could meet one character from the Star Wars universe and ask them a question, what would it be? Are all human-looking characters in Star Wars the same species? In what order should a newcomer watch the movies? Why can't the Mandalorian take off his mask in front of people? Alex and Mollie answer all these questions and much more!

    As far as the "Droid God" question goes:
    Nobody in the Star Wars universe is speaking English. Their universal language is called Basic, and all of the dialogue in the books/movies/shows/comics is technically using an English translation of Basic. As such, the droids aren't actually saying "Oh my god." They are (probably) saying some exclamation in Basic that has effectively the same meaning/usage.

      I agree, they are one of the most expensive items in the Galaxy.
      Also, kyber crystals aren’t really expensive. They’re extremely rare, but they’re not good for anything in the civilian sector. Alex pointed out that lightsabers are expensive, but that’s because it’s a rare weapon that is impressive, functional, useful, and frankly just really badass. The crystal alone though isn’t worth much. And since no one except Force users can create a lightsaber (due to the crystal needing to be bonded with the user and activated by the Force), you can’t use it for anything at all.

    Bo-Katan is definitely not in her mid 50s, she's about the same age as Ahsoka. Kate Sackoff is only 40 years old. She's probably around 45-49 years old in the Mandalorian, tops.
    However, Ming-Na Wen (who plays Fennec Shand) is 57 years old, so the women in Star Wars just age really well.

    Biggest question I’ve ever had is:
    Once, a novelist wrote (I believe in the series where Jacen became Sith) that a Jedi had had his Achilles tendon severed. Would this then place that timeline somewhere between the death of the mighty warrior and my birth?
    Not THAT long ago, and in a galaxy far, far enough away that they couldn’t possibly have known about Achilles.

      Interesting side note. This choice was a deliberate design choice by Palpatine to weaken Vader as he saw Vader as a threat that needed to be reliant upon him and weak enough to be taken down if necessary. Ironically this irritation and constant pain also made him more powerful in the dark side of the force. Just a fun note

    • @taylorhaws6402
      @taylorhaws6402 Před 3 lety

      @@leesure3015 in legends, that is the case. In Canon, Palpatine let Vader build his own suit after his first one was destroyed. The suit is still painful, but that is either due to the extent of his injuries nessesitating painful cybernetics, or a deliberate choice by Vader to strengthen his connection to the dark side.
      It's also worth noting that Vader suit in Canon makes him both faster and stronger. Although it does decrease his agility significantly.

    I think the question about Vader asleep at a meeting is almost moot in a “does a tree that falls in a forest when there’s no one around make a sound” philosophical way. No one is going to SAY to Vader that he fell asleep. He knows they won’t, so he won’t say anything. If that’s the case, did he truly fall asleep?
