      Hi M Shwaikan! :) I'm personally not very familiar with students who are parents so I probably can't give you the best advice but all throughout Leuven there are children's day care facilities, kindergartens, and people who work as a nanny. I believe that it is possible to schedule your KU Leuven class hours around times that your child can be in daycare :)
      Thank you for the tips, I'll consider them for my next KU Leuven-related video ;)

    Loving these videos Laura! I've been nominated to attend KU Leuven this Jan-May semester and your videos are super helpful. As a fellow Asian exchange student, how is the international/exchange student experience in Belgium and KU Leuven?

    • @LaurasLifeInJapan
      @LaurasLifeInJapan  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Henry! Congratulations on getting into KU Leuven! You must be really excited to start next semester! Since I used to be a Belgian regular student at KU Leuven, I never really experienced the international/exchange student experience myself, but I'll relay to you what my Japanese boyfriend thought of it!
      He told me that the first week is usually the hardest since you don't really know where everything is and don't know many people but after that it's easier to make friends (often other international students and Belgian students) and since there are often events prepared for exchange student by Pangaea intercultural meeting centre in Leuven, you quickly feel at home and can experience a lot of things. My boyfriend in particular also travelled really a lot throughout Europe during his exchange so that elevated the whole experience for him even more! So I'd definitely recommend you to get out of Leuven city when you can and explore other Belgian towns and European countries!
      I hope you'll have an amazing experience!

    Hi Laura! Really love and appreciate the detailed videos on kuleuven. How difficult is finding jobs after graduating a bachelor program (for instance for bba) for international students who aren’t proficient in local languages?

    • @LaurasLifeInJapan
      @LaurasLifeInJapan  Před 3 lety

      Hi Jineet! Thank you for watching! Well, if you're not proficient in either French or Dutch, it'll be harder to find a job but if you focus more on international companies than it'll be definitely possible!

    Hi Laura san . It seems that everything is well-organized at KU Leuven university ! I think I haven't asked
    you yet what Rin studied at the university and how long time ? The university looks very classical like
    cambridge Univ. and how many foreign students studying except Europeans ? I know you studied Japanology there and met Rin by chance.I suppose you both just look back the good old days there or ?
    Well , while there is life ,there is hope in the future for you both even you move to other countries.😊

      @LaurasLifeInJapan  Před 3 lety

      Hi Masato-san, sorry for the late reply! Rin studied at KU Leuven for one year at the business and economics faculty ^^ Last year, the number of international students had almost reached 10 000! Ku Leuven is a really old university since it was founded in 1425, almost 600 years ago, around the end of Japan's Muromachi period :o

    • @LaurasLifeInJapan
      @LaurasLifeInJapan  Před 4 lety

      Hi Thickbite sport 👋 thank you for leaving me a comment and I’m sorry if I’ve overlooked a previous comment of yours! Most universities in Belgium teach a lot of their classes in English in an undergraduate program for medicine. However, depending on where the university is located in Belgium, you will have to prove to them with a language certificate that you have adequate knowledge of either German, French or Dutch since there is no undergraduate program that is completely taught in English. Do you perhaps speak one of those languages? 😊

    • @LaurasLifeInJapan
      @LaurasLifeInJapan  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Wallace! I'm glad to hear you're interested in studying at KU Leuven. You don't really have to worry though! The education system in Belgium is different from the education systems in America and Asia in the sense that it's easy to get into a good university like KU Leuven (you just need a high school diploma) but the difficult part is graduating. KU Leuven offers you a really great education with many opportunities and support by mentors and professors. But the level is very high, the speed at which you get taught is very fast (bachelors is only 3 years) and professors expect a lot from you. This altogether often results in many students in the first year dropping out or not making the cut. There are 3 exam periods per year: in January (winter), in June (summer) and in August/September(retakes). If you failed your exam in the winter or summer examination period than you can still do a retake during the 3rd exam period! If you pass then, no problem! If you fail again you will have to do the whole course again. It's okay to fail or redo a couple of courses but after those first three examination periods, KU Leuven expects you to have passed at least 50% of your courses. If you haven't, then they will decide whether you can still continue that study or not based on your circumstances. It might sound scary or very stressful but if you just do your schoolwork during the year and prepare for classes and ask questions if you don't understand something, then you will be fine ;) I never failed a single course in my 3 years at KU Leuven :)
