The newly released 5th mini-album alludes to the ‘Memento Box,’ referring to the group’s wish to collect all of their beautiful moments into one medium, which they can share with their listeners. from our Memento Box is a lovely compilation of five tracks rich with joyful memories of dazzling summer days.
“Stay This Way,” the lead single of from our Momento Box, opens with an impromptu trip amid the sunset. The song expresses one’s desire to break free from the dull days and embark on a journey to paradise where you can fully indulge the sound of the waves. fromis_9 will once again sweep listeners off their feet by presenting a place of refreshing comfort and joy with their uplifting summer track “Stay This Way.”

This MV feels different. Most of the scenes were the members faces and them posing for the camera.
While I've been seeing some complains online about that (the lack of creativity), the unsatisfactory colour grading and that they could've done with some other sets and better sceneries, I personally feel that the direction they went with in the MV is a specific choice. And I'm starting to understand it, and love it.
Here are my thoughts: Its a memento box. And the reel in the beginning shows that they use film cameras to record their memories to be put in their memento box. Most of the time, people treasure moments by taking pictures of their loved ones, or the people they are traveling with as a form of keepsake. Something to look back to from a trip or event. To me, that explains the significant emphasis towards the stills and shots of our girls posing for the camera (plus every scene is just screaming gf vibes). Its supposed to be a memento box. Each picture taken brings back memories of the time you spent with the person there, wherever it is that you went with them.
fromis_9 has always had that sentimental nuance in their expression of music, and this, to me, is a very unique way of conveying that. It really went in line with their concept this time albeit summery, but the album says from our memento box. Each memento is supposed to bring to mind memories and nostalgia of the event and throughout the MV, we see that the memory each memento represents are the members themselves. Flovers know that the members love each other as family and Saerom even mentioned that fromis_9 is a valuable memory and part of her 20s, this sentiment really rings throughout the MV; for this part of their lives to "Stay this way", but as it isn't possible, it could at least be something for them to look back to from their memento box.
The lackluster colour grading many are talking about could be an attempt to replicate film camera pictures. Adding that layer of nostalgia and bittersweetness of looking back at something you experienced and miss. It's an aesthetic choice, to say.
Tldr: I dont think they missed with the MV, just that their artistic direction is different.
