This week I revisted an old project- a homemade Tattoo Machine. I built it from scratch and even made the coils myself. What a fun project!!

Am I the only one who thinks that this was both inevitable and overdue? I love Laura's builds but even better, I love HOW she builds. The shortcuts and the techniques I've seen have really helped me with my own projects.
Totally agree.
That makes me really happy!
I totally agree it was so nice to watch and really insightful
The more I watch you Laura, I think “Let Glue Dry” is a metaphor for life.🤗🐝❤️
Just a simple question: Do you remember watching MacGyver when you were a child?.... Let Glue Dry.
2:42 : "Richtig cool, aber wasises?" --> pretty neat, but what is it?
cutest label so far... :D
Who doesn't have a big bucket o' whatsits?
I love Kölsch! Dat jeht doht jar niht!
I would let you give me a "Every Defect Deserves Respect" tattoo with that Laura!
You are the type of engineer I alway's wanted to watch! Thank you for being a great, cool, outta the normal person🎉🎉🎉
Laura, you’re a happy, crazy, sweet, different kind of person! Thanks for being yourself, outside the norm……Thanks from all of us who appreciate it…. The world needs more people like this! Much respect! Liza
Thanks for your kind words Liza!!! I am happy you like my work
Agreed! :)
I like the mechanical interruption of the electricity. Brilliant. Well done as always Laura.
The most badass maker video you’ve made. Considering the very high bar you have set for badass maker videos I mean this as the ultimate compliment.
Watching this video made my day.
Thanks. It was quite a challenge but I learnt so much!
Well... this was unexpected!
Very cool... but unexpected!
Edit: Tattoo guns were almost always home made and often by the artist. Like a lot of craftsmen's tools, it's not like ordering one from Amazon or at the time, the Sears catalogue was a thing. I remember prison machines often used the small motors in portable audio cassette recorders/players, like the Walkman.
The "REALLY COOL, BUT WHAT IS IT?" labelling for the box at 2:42 seems so fitting haha!
Also the aesthetic turned out amazing!
The first one I made was out of a motor from an old Walkman cassette player...
An E string from a guitar sharpened to a fine point...
And the ink tube from a ball point pen with the ball removed as a guide for the needle.
Yours is way better :)
Always inspired by your builds and your joy in them. This one was a really cool project, as someone with tats it's ace to see the components required to make a machine! Thank you as ever!
Yet another project that blurs the line between function and art. It's almost post-apocalyptic in its esthetic, i love it.
Love it, your rotary machine looks a lot like the first machine I built many years ago. Your coils started off ok but looked a little messy when finished, hand winding will make a more efficient machine. Great content thanks for sharing.
I love the reuse of all these materials. Great work!
Wow never know what you’re gonna see built on this channel, love it
So cool. Thanks for the simple explanation on how it works!
I was camping in the wild and missed this week’s live premier! This is so cool, I love it when a project is both mechanical and electrical!
Very cool! I love the wide variety of maker projects that you do, and the way you present them. Keep on keepin' on!
Thumbs up and thanks for posting.
Super intéressant, merci Laura pour cette nouvelle expérience 👍
Very clever design and wonderful aesthetic. Well done!
I used to use a old doorbell to make my coil machines. Worked very well!
Very cool film. Love use of all the "junk" parts. Can see there were many hurdles to overcome, congrats - not an easy build. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Really cool Laura, you're an inspiration xx
Super Projekt. Die "Richtig cool aber was ist es?" Kiste merk ich mir für mein eigenes Sortiersystem. Solche Gegenstände hat man viel zu oft, und ist sich nie sicher wohin damit.
So cool! Brilliant engineering!
Love it ! Cheers Laura and thanks for sharing another awesome video. Happy Sunday! :)
I love your project of dermographe , great .
What an awesome tattoo gun!! I love the look!!
Hi Laura! You are an artist on so many levels, nice tattoo machine
Many a great tatooartist started on bananas!
Oh to have a bucket of brass parts. Great build!
That was so well made of have to assume you already have a proper coil machine. Very cool video.
I loved this video. I am also covered in tattoos as well and can appreciate this art form like you do. 👍🏽 your very inspiring, keep the videos coming 😁
nice idea on how to reuse an old handle!
Such a cool fun project.
Just wow, so fun
Fantastic work 👌
Schönes Video. Egal wie schief das Gewinde geschnitten ist. Hauptsache es Funktioniert. :)
That was impressive!
Such a cool project!! The gizmosity is through the roof on this one!
I never knew that I needed the word 'gizmosity' in my life but I definitely do
@@masonjennings3275 I believe all credit for the word gizmosity has to go to @jimmydiresta
@@kusler67 ah, ty!! Seems like someone I should have subscribed to a long time ago
Awesome, as usual! 👌👌
You tattooed my heart with this video!
Laura is so rad
I love this grip, you could also use it for hand tattooing and it also looks beautiful. It's not just a steeltube that you then have to wrap miles of tape over
such a cool science lesson
Cool build
Very awesome!!!
Wow this is something different Laura not so easy to make but great work again.
Thanks Laura.
Beautiful
Loved that
nicely done
brilliant LK I love it
What?!.... effin awesome!
Wow effect! thanks for video
Awesome !!!
Good job Laura well done you are very talented ave a good day
Got me a “let glue dry” T yesterday, came super fast, in a biodegradable plastic bag, fits perfect 👍🏻, black and white Laura sticker looks fab on my white car “stands out like a very nice sore thumb” in my humble province (Dorf) in NI,,,,,, now to get me a “ let glue dry” tattoo 🤣😂🤣
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you
Oh super cool!!!
Awesome ❤
Nice work 👍🏻😄
Thank you for calling it a machine and not a gun like so many do here in the U.S.
So sorry for what’s going on in your area. Hope you and yours are safe and well at this time
You should be in school books ! You are very empowering ! I wish that many little girls watch your videos so that they know they can do whatever they want.
This is not something I needed to know how to do. Now how am I supposed to keep myself from getting my own sleeves
Pain.
Cost
😂😂
@@markg.1159 it’s not pain, it’s pure joy!
Try drawing with a massive vibrating pen, that should help you decide one way or the other.
Very interesting build! Funny that you've got a bandage at the same place as I do in my video of the day!
I never thought of this, a banana tattooing business! All kidding aside, great project Laura.
Looks like it could make a good cutter for CNCing paper or thin plastic that don't cut well with a rotary cutter.
By the looks of it, you could potentially use that to ink on leather items for your shop or your tool rolls?
well leather is just skin, so I don't see why not.
Sounds like a fun way to label your stuff.
Yeah that's true but I like the sloppiness in this piece of work. and this stumbling over the used and needed parts
Funny: I caught myself thinking PROST when watching your videos after the premiere and discover a piece of tape 😂👍 Cheers
I just noticed the smiley face on your vise!!!
I 🖤 u and ur happy vise!
I lived with a tattoo artist for a while in college and was educated about how it’s called a tattoo machine (not gun), much love for your ingenuity and proper terms. I’ve been planning my next tattoo (to be done by a professional lol) so this kind of content is just what I’m in the mood for, thanks as always for sharing for your hard work and creative mind!
Wow! Glad you used the banana. No animals or humans were hurt! 😀
I wish I could have nice penmanship like that. I can barely write in English and it’s my native language!
I like it because it is very sanitary
Merch idea - temporary tattoos of your logo and Let Glue Dry. For those of us too chicken to get real tattoos?
I miss that cool vise from the first year of videos!
Jajajajaja muy bueno laura.👍👍
Sketchy as a sketchy thing! I love it and would be quite willing to have 'LET GLUE DRY' tattooed on me with that machine :)
Not on your banana obviously. Wouldn't fit.
Tattoo machine made with parts from an "elektronischer Biermesser"
Me, a German: interesting 👁️👄👁️
Durch Sprung durch Technik 🤣😂🤣😂 can only be in Germany 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@expatmoose Or Switzerland..... Ricola! XD
@@wanderingfirbolg6738 let’s go the whole hog and add Austria,,, can’t leave no one out😉😉
@@expatmoose Than we have to include germanspeeking parts of Texas as well
Don't forget the German speaking wine growers in South Australia 🤠 🇦🇺
I will admit you're very good at tattooing bananas :)
In an Apocalyptic world where (bad) AI has taken over I want to be around Laura hanging out in some derilict building where she makes stuff to sabotage whatever needs sabotaging and I make pancakes...
You are hired!
I love that Smudo got a banana tattoo :)
Let Glue dry! Stay safe and don't harm yourself in pointy instruments. X
Birdy
It looked like you had your capacitor and coils wired incorrectly, but props for getting it to work with junk. I make coiled tattoo machines. Nick frys electric tattoo machine. You could get stronger magnets by using scotch tape on the coils instead of electrical tape, and a faster hit by using a skinnier armature bar (bar that holds the needle). Good job either way!
Very cool ! :-)
Love the project and love the 'Cool stuff, but what is it' bin...
What a cool idea. Maybe the capacitor could be a weak point, as with these coils, you get really high voltage spikes. No problem, there are many replacements parts lying around. :)
I liked this upload as I am into tattooing, my first wife was doing her apprenticeship and used me as a guineipig and we bought a gun but I had to modify it for her small hands, would yours be to heavy for say an hour of work.
I saw an upload on here where he made a tattoo machine using a radio control nitro ICE that worked well but not practical, he also made a mini chainsaw and cut off wheel using the small nitro engines.
I'm glad you're not in the weapons business..... But really, magnificent project, as always.
wwwwwow lovethis one!
the new business... custom banana tattoo studio 😎😉
P.S. du hast eine sehr schöne Schrift beim Tattoo hingelegt... sauber gestochen Laura
She must be the warden's favorite inmate
Super awesome. Question: can you tattoo dyed leather? and veg-tan leather?
THIS IS AN INSAAAANE BUILD!!! Let glue dry.
GOOD~
Hee hee, tatooing a banana! What a clever, different project.
😀 nice!
