    I see books that are selling for $3.50 with free shipping, but media mail would cost me $3.89 to ship! How do these people make money?

      Buyer pays the shipping. Have to almost get books for free. Then it can work but no real big profit unless you are getting rid of lots of books. And hopefully a few high priced books!

    As a new seller on Ebay with around 300 books currently, Ive made $4,300 in my first 51 days of selling. 61 books sold in total. Nonfiction/ vintage fiction are my two top categories. Definitely have a good amount of my success to attribute to your tips & tricks! I look for 10X or more net profit per book, which means I hunt for $15 & over listed price books for $1 or under, and will pay more as the potential listed price goes up. I source almost daily at 1-3 different locations, and am lucky to see a few library book sales every weekend. Im VERY fortunate to be in the Chicagoland area where tons of books were produced, with a significant population of people donating to libraries.

    I am currently going through my book inventory and finding that many of my book listigs have just disapeared from ebay. Some books have sat on my shelf for years while I assumed they listed and they were not. My suggestion is to implement some sort of audit system to ensure that you listings are still live or they will just sit there taking up valuble space and collecting dust. Great info though, Live long and prosper.

    Very good video!! Effort & Sources matter most. Also once you hit a certain point it will plateau for us as 1 person book sellers. The books will sell just as quick as we find them and our equilibrium will be hit. There definitely is lots of opportunities to start a book business and make lots of money!!

      Equilibrium. That is a nice, succinct way to phrase things. We build inventory and as we do- we approach that nice plateau and an equilibrium state.

      Just keep learning- that is a skill you can improve! My recommendation is to concentrate on non-fiction. Learn genres of subjects that work instead of individual titles. All of my 'haul' videos give examples of the types of book types/genres that work in my store.

    I really enjoy your channel. Your information has been so helpful. I have a question. How do I sell only part of a series listed? I had 5 books listed in this series but the buyer only wanted 3 of the books. I have no problem selling the three but not sure how the transaction would go.

    • @curatorofthelost
      @curatorofthelost  Před 2 lety

      Hi- I have done this before too. A couple of options- 1. Just revise the listing for them to say 3 books with a new price, 2. Just have them do a best offer for a negotiated price and include in the offer it is only for the 3 books. Either works. The 2nd is simpler. Both protect you from the buyer saying you did not send the right stuff

    Have you considered selling books on Amazon instead of, or in addition to, eBay? Do books sell faster and/or for more money on one platform vs. the other? Aside from the fixed $3.99 standard shipping fee for used books on Amazon, it's not clear to me what the difference is. If you've already done a video on this, could you post the link? Thanks, your content is very helpful.

    • @curatorofthelost

      I’m selling on Amazon now as well. Started in May. I have a couple of videos out there on my Amazon updates. Fees are higher with Amazon but sales price is generally higher too. It has been positive for me to do FBA so far. There is the shipping fee, then either $1 per item or a $40 monthly fee (the monthly gives you pro status), then there is a referral fee of about 15%. Ballpark it Adds up to 40-50% of your sales

    Thanks for the videos, great information! I have around 150 erotic books from the 60's. I am trying to find their values but the majority of them have none for sale online. Some titles have articles written about them or their authors, others have ebook available. Of the 150, I have priced about 60. At least 15 have value of over $100 with the average around $50. I really don't want to invest too much time in each price since this is only a few boxes of about 15 storage units of items I have to for sell. In a situation where you can't find any information on a book, how do you suggest I price the item on eBay? Thanks so much for your time

    • @curatorofthelost
      @curatorofthelost  Před 2 lety +1

      That is always tough. I look on eBay, Amazon, abebooks, and Alibris for any kind of comp. List or sold comp. If you can’t find a title on any of those sites, search by author or subject and try to get something similar. Sounds like you have a goldmine!

      Those monthly fees are such a drag- especially if there is a down month for sales.
