Cool video.. I purchased a basket case last summer and was wondering why my cover wouldn’t close up all the way . I’m going to check that distance on the worm gear tomorrow. I hope that fixes it. I did notice mine is all chewed up so may just buy a new one from lowbrow.

Good idea you'll save yourself some head aches down the road. Try backing the adjustment screw out to get cover to fit. My clutch is still hanging up. Going to check the basket assembly see what I did wrong there.

Do you think this could cause issue with shifting into neutral from first? Just got an xs650 and when I'm at a stoplight the clutch seems locked in the gear that it's in and I can't move it until I get up to speed.

That was my problem also. I couldn't get into neutral at all while the bike was running. When bike was off I could shift to neutral no problem. I had some slight drag on bike at a stop I could feel clutch wasn't disengaging all the way. So I did a year down pulled clutch friction plates and found one was warped a good quarter inch and others were also warped around a sixteenth of an inch. Ordered some new friction plates reassembled and adjusted and it's been great shifts to neutral and no more drag at a stop. So you could have adjustment issue or some warped clutch plates or both.
