July 1996 St. Louis, MO. Riverport concert where a lightning storm and tornado forced CSN to start playing at around 2am because Riverport didn't want to give us our money back. There were about 50 people left with 20 of us in the lawn wet and muddy. CSN comes out and tells they are going play till dawn because we stuck around. After a couple of songs, they announced they were going to play something they had never played live, 49 Bye-Byes. Greatest concert I have ever been to. Was it like Woodstock? I don't know, but the rain, the mud, the middle of the night and only 50 of us watching one of the most iconic bands in the history of rock and roll, so maybe. They didn't make it to dawn, but at 4am they played their finale song. I feel sorry for every concert I have been to since then.

This is perhaps their most political song, as Stills ad-libbed on Four Way Street.

About 20 years ago to this day, as I descended out of the mountains on I-10, my first time driving into San Diego (La Mesa) and my first time in Southern California, this song played on my six stack CD player. It was glory and majesty to my ears and eyes. God blessed me with a beautiful song as I entered a beautiful, majestic part of the world. It's forever emblazoned in my heart and mind. Thank you, CSN!

Nash is up there absolutely loving life. Watch it again but only watch Graham. He starts off by getting a vibe with the bass player. Then he slides in with Crosby. And he wraps it’s up with helping his old buddy Stills at the end. Nash and the drummer going into are already on the same page. It’s cool how he mends the tension between Stills v. Crosby. At the end, it’s as if they were young again singing for what mattered to them. Damn. Graham Nash’s energy is out of this world.

I love these guys. They're amazing. I always find amusing that Nash, of the 3 of them,, is the one that moves around, can't stay put and let's the music drive his body. I find it a bit ironic being that he's the British one of the group (who are supposed to be the ones with the "stiff upper lip"). Good for him! I love to watch him feel the music.

Haha no legit. Most performances wouldn't of really changed at all if Grahams and Crosbys guitars weren't plugged in. Other than A few of Grahams songs which feature him on Keyboards and Stills on no instruments. Most of CSN's instrumental sound is down too Mr. Stills

I don't know why there are so many comments here on CSN's harmonies in this song? These are NOT the classic ones from their body of work. It's more mundane comparatively IMHO. It's a good song, and shows off a more powerful vocal energy than most of their songs, but not for the harmonies - Let's be honest here
I'm struck by Still's ability to use tremolo in his voice. I bet he picked it up from Neil Young, but does it on-pitch, and even sounds like Phoebe Snow at times, and that's a complement. Watch him work the Tele's volume knob to imitate tremolo in his playing as well. Folks might mistake this for vibrato, but the pitch doesn't change, just the volume. So a whammy bar won't do this effect. He's quite good at using his finger on the knob and not miss a beat on the guitar. There are better, more advanced guitarists for sure, but his playing fits their music perfectly, and without the show-off styles of many guitarists.
End the damn shredding PLEASE! Feel and a variety of emotions in guitar-playing has been lost on our youth. Get you kids into CSN and CSNY to save their souls!
