ALTRUSIAN GRACE MEDIA Presents:
Psyclopean is the cinematic dark ambient/atmospheric/dungeon synth music project fronted by Matt Schmitz (Sleestak, Altrusian Grace Media) and produces instrumental interpretations of the literary works of H.P. Lovecraft and his peers. The Dreamlands, inspired by Lovecraft's Dream Cycle saga, is a psychedelic and cosmic interpretation of the many locations and denizens that lurk therein. Focusing on shorter pieces, Psyclopean introduces elements of synth and real world audio sounds, and the result is nothing short of a spectacular ethereal journey into realms of darkness and unreality.

"The men of Leng" is just pure, undiluted terror. Walking alone through the woods at night with this track on headphones would be my proposal for an ultimate test of willpower and maturity.
...and I'm still shocked by absurdly low number of views and upvotes on this video. This album should be widely discussed among ambient fans and praised beyond belief.

FANTASTIC dark ambient music!!!
I play this while telling my 5 year old son Lovecraft horror stories. before going to sleep.
By the way - “The Men Of Leng”, while maybe my favorite of the songs on this album, made it entirely impossible to sleep while it was playing last night. The insistent call of that horn was... internally distressing, when mixed with the higher pitched plucked strings, drums, etc. I had been drifting in and out through the gates of Sleep for a while, but that song was just- unrestful. I know that isn’t a proper word- but it wasn’t that it was scary, as I’m usually quite beyond fear- it was a disturbing sound, however, and very evocative of unspeakable rites and the calling up of unknowable entities. It created an internal unease- and an ominous, portentous feeling that something wrong was coming. Exceptional job on that track, sir- very powerful, and rich in dread. Bravo!
Thats usually how my wife feels listening to some of this, she gets somewhat disturbed by it. I tend to try and go within the dark parts of my mind to pull some of this stuff out when I create, focusing more on anxiety and tension than outright horror. I'm working on The Dreams In The Witch House right now for the next release and hope this will induce the same. Thanks a ton for the comments!

@Audrius Vadvilavičius I am glad to hear that it helps, I try to find musical phrases that connect to the unconscious in an emotional way and weave them into overall picture of the composition. This creation of this album was a turning point for me
7:00 Pantherinae is a plural form of "pantherinus" literally means "leopard-like" or "leopard-shaped". "Saturnus" is in nominative case. So the real meaning of the garbled Latin title is something like "Leopard-likes Saturn" without any connection between the two words, so it very well might have been written with a full stop in between them: "Leopard-likes. Saturn".
"Cats of Saturn" in proper classical Latin would be "Felēs Saturnini" or "Catti Saturnini" in medieval Latin.
Well, being a musician and not a Latin scholar, I liked the way my title sounded better :)

thank you. you'll have some work ahead of you collecting all the Psyclopean. A 3-way split album based on the tomes and grimoires in the Mythos in the next few weeks hopefully, along with a huge new double album soon thereafter based around Carcosa. That makes 15 or 16 albums from Psyclopean lol
