A viable strategy for Burgundy is to vassalize Provence and bring them up to 100 development instead of conquering their lands. Their misson tree grants them cores on all of Naples which you can reconquer fairly easliy once Naples is indepedent. If the Burgundian inheritence fires you will annex all these lands for free.
My first war is always against provence. You want to vassalize provence for free cores on naples and sometimes if you are lucky provence might get avigion as well. After burgundian sucssesion u get all of naples for free. Provence also has 2 cores on france so you can use them as well
Recent thing I had brought to my attention; Don't forget you can request your vassal's cores from your allies. As Burgundy, you should be allying the pope, especially with your Feast of Pheasants mission. You don't strictly have to rely on the mission to get their core back.
the most op nation to play rather than burgundy or france is actually provence if u can overcome the very hard start.. i got pu on naples, hungary, aragon, france and later i formed france and got pu over castile.. game over... then u get all of frances missions as well as the provence ones - already owning the holy land etc
there is also a chance to get pu over burgundy with luck or succession war but i didnt get that
You can also use the return core favor if you're ally with the pope.
In my current burgundy game I got a claim on Calais from the diet and fought an admittedly very hard war with England on December 11th and took all of Normandy and then Provence got excommunicated and I took all of the state of Lorraine in the middle of my war with England, I took all that and somehow didn’t get a coalition, it was beautiful
Feeling absolutely blessed with this upload schedule
Very good and entertaining video as always!
We need more EU4 CZcamsr like you 🫶🏼🙌🏼
Thanks! it was a good guide.
Nice and simple thank you
This is way more solid than my recent run. Sad that I already got the achievement! Otherwise, I would follow this guide for an easier time.
03:25 and 03:36 dont forget to merge troops :D, great video as always
07:49 I think the rule of joining HRE îs to have your capital near a province from HRE and not a country în HRE. În this case Provence moved its capital în the Lorraine area after losing a war and you had 2 provinces there still în HRE. 😁
Rule is to have land connection betwen your capital and any HRE province, Provance can join HRE at the game start as a matter of fact as long as it has good relations with emperor.
And since opinion requierment depends on your country dev, as soon as provance lost few provinces it could easly joing HRE.
15:48 You can also accept all the Netherlands' culture group or forming the Netherlands. It isn't an end tag so you can form Lotharingia after that.
IIRC, the Dutch Revolt also checks that the local religions match the state religion. So, if the reformation kicks off and it converts lowland provinces, accepting Dutch and Flemish culture won't be enough to stop the disaster.
Forming Netherlands makes you lose all of your provinces in France Region. Those get ceded to France. I am not sure if France pops out if there is no France though.
@@General_Universe France will stay dead if they don't exist. Make that happen, and you'll be allowed to keep your French provinces as a megablobbed Netherlands!
@@decrexendo You're right with that, you can stop the progression converting the provinces to catholicism again tho.
@@General_Universe It doesn't, so if you conquest all of France and form the Netherlands you don't loose anything.
We're making the mother of all PUs Jack, some OPM will be annexed in the way.
I like dismantling the HRE after im mostly done with France and England, i can't be bothered to deal with ae, constant improving and stuff. Not to mention the gav cap problems ofc and its relatively easy to dismantle bc u can almost always ally all the electors
True, it's especially easy to dismantle in the League Wars.
To fix gov cap you can also grant estate privelige
Word
Hi Lord Bonobo, could you do a Catholic Japan Exploration/Expansion or Expansion/Maritime and perhaps get Jerusalem as the achievement requires? I have never seen anything like it and I think It would be very interesting to see with the new 1.35 Japanese mechanic to counter isolationism!
Great timing lol. I think you're ought to be fortune teller, next scheduled video will be about catholic japan (although with a twist).
All praises to the Coolest of Bonobos 🙌🙌🙌
The Burgundy fanbase is strong
You can also grant gov cap privileges to estates
Все таки цей акцент я завжди зрозумію)))
You shouldn't state and then later unstate those provinces from the vassals/PUs, you are throwing away the full cores if you do that, meaning you have to pay admin points.
There is no good choice in this situation, unfortunately. Only if France doesn't have allies, you can make do with small force limit and not state anything. And if you don't unstate, well, no wars until you are Emperor
Burgundy got some buff
What would you recommend for later idea group?
I think you should make a video about hisn kayfa
Well, if I am playing as burgundy, usually it is for me to form another nation from it after getting all permanent modifiers(and from now on tier 6 gov reform) and forming Sardinia-Piedmont for admin efficiency. Then you have lots of choices of countries to form, but I prefer Burgundy => Sardinia-Piedmont => England => Russia - the richest one, and the funniest imo
I’ve always had time to find supporters and consolidate my troops before declaring on France, did something change?
Yes, now it's impossible to find any supporters. Once you unpause, France integrates you.
I'm pretty sure that the Mission King of the Franks transfers all vassals to you, not just disloyal ones, it used to only be disloyal ones in the past, but I think they changed it?
Yes, all of France's vassals with capitals in the France region, they don't have to be disloyal
Yup, they changed it apparently. The point still stands though, better to not let GPs support independence of vassals before you can steal them.
Cool beans
woohooooo
i must be the unluckiest player ever, in my recent playthru, Austria got every single pu possible... hungary, bohemia, milan, burgundy... ive never seen them this strong.. its only 1540 ish..

i found the most annoying thing with the French option isn't even the instant annex, its that France almost always chooses to liberate the low lands. So instead of beautiful and rich low lands you get a bunch of mediocre French land and a billion points of AE if you try to re-conquer your stuff.
what happens if the ruler dies after 1455? mine died in 56 and I suspect that the fact that I don't have an heir now is caused by that (so if there is no marie then no burgundian succession?)
It's mostly just so you can abdicate in time and trigger burgundian succession on your terms, it doesn't influence chance of getting heir.
League of the Public Weal doesn’t work for me. They always join the war against me even when their relations to me are friendly and I take the mission.
They join the war, but they shouldn't help france if they have >50 liberty desire. They will just stand on their provinces or maybe even run away from you.
Hi i didn't quite get the state thing? Why negative over externsion?
After the Burgundian inheritance you will become duchy, so your GC will be twice lower. And if you state everything, you'd be about 300% over governing capacity, which brings catastrophic penalties to conquest of new provinces. But if you don't state, you won't have force limit to win against France. That's why I recommend to first state, then unstate.
@@CoolBonobo ah I see that's gonna hurt my mana...though i general playing I Europe mana isn't too big of an issue
Mother of all swarms (puts a pic of a guy in thumbnail)
Is this guide doable in the base game? I dont have the money for dlcs
Unfortunately, it's not doable in the base game. For this guide to work, you need the Emperor dlc as the bare minimum.
@@CoolBonobo Aww, Is the Bavarian Guide doable with base game? Cause it looks nice
Dude did anyone told you you sound exactly like Daniil Dubov the Russian Chess grandmaster?
You're the first one. Does sound similar lol.
:)

@@CoolBonobo Oh i asked because of your accent.
