  • This New York duo make music that sounds like big city desert rock. Che Chen has a pretty abstract approach to guitar that takes on modal traditions of the Middle East and West Africa as well as the space chords of Sun Ra and, combined with Rick Brown's earthen, minimal percussion, 75 Dollar Bill have located an irresistible groove.

Just when you think you’ve heard all the guitar players ,along comes this man. Love it. Great percussion too.

This crew makes it's own music genre. Modern '60s psychedelic rock, gotta love it. The late Beatles' axeman George Harrison would be v impressed I believe.

No, man. That's African music. Nothing 60s or psychedelic about it.

@@Blackscorpion1963 No trolling at all. I’m just telling you something you don’t seem to know. That music is based on East African guitar music. Listen to Ali Farka Touré, Tinariwen, Bombino, Mdou Moctar and you’ll hear similar things. So, again, no psychedelic rock, no Beatles. African music.

Would love to know the specs on that orange guitar, especially how many microtonal frets have been added.

they're quarter tones, it's common in mauritania to go and take the top 7 (12? I don't remember) frets and just stick them right in between the first 7 (or 12 or whatever). There's a video of someone doing it on youtube someplace
