Not having rollback isn’t the end of the world. Delay-based isn’t automatically bad, fighting games have gotten by with it just fine for years. Even if we were to get rollback, if implemented poorly it could be even worse than most delay-based games. Obviously good rollback would be ideal, but there’s no big reason to get especially concerned yet.

I understand where you’re coming from. However all the arena fighters I’ve played have bad netcode. And you’re right laggy rollback could be worse but I think it’s worth the risk. I just don’t see the harm in trying to implementing better netcode. That’s all.

Genuinely Im really excited for the game but like, delay based netcode actually does just suck and rollback is way easier to work with and apparently implement. This game looks so great so if anything voicing criticisms against things that look a little questionable is encouraged since you're spending money to play the damn thing.
I'm also apprehensive about local multiplayer honestly, like I know we live in an age of online multiplayer but one of the most special things about the old Sparking games was going over to a friend's house to play them. I hope they give it full support later on.

Idk how easy rollback is to implement but I do think it needs to be in the game regardless. I'm glad the devs seem to be listening to fans. That's what really prompted me to make this video in the first place. And yeah they need to do something about the lack of offline multiplayer options as well. I think if people make enough noise about this stuff then they'll make changes.

Hopefully they fix the net code and improve single player.

What’s wrong with sparking zero’s single player?

@@PYCrossUp I’m worried about what there will be to do after the story mode in the long term. I suppose there is that battle creation thing that will keep this game alive for a very long time. But aside from that, the local multiplayer will be rather limited since you can only do it on one stage. If there are more modes and if you can choose to battle the ai instead of another player in the local player mode like you can do in basically any fighting game. Then the single player is solid.

@@shadowsansvii8715 Like most fighting games, long term people are going to be playing multiplayer more than single player mode. So far I think the single player is fine for that purpose. Most people are getting the game to play against friends anyway. Not saying single player doesn't matter but multiplayer is what is going to carry this game.

A game like DBSZ doesnt need the "rollback" netcode like people think. It's not as sensitive as traditional FGs. Plus, part of the experience that u lose with rollback (if there are consistent problems in the match) is hearing/seeing the same things at the same time, ie. particle simulations, sound and visual fx, and other animations.
TL;DR: DBSZ will do fine with just delay-based netcode because it isnt that serious. But rollback wouldn't hurt.

If sparking zero's netcode is anything like xenoverse's or the naruto storm games then it needs rollback. I don't think you would lose anything by implementing better netcode (especially if it's done correctly). Even if people are playing casually, bad online will take the fun right out of it.

@@PYCrossUp poorly implemented rollback is still poor netcode. We just gotta make sure they code using knuckles and not toenails

i mean fighterZ got rollback and online damn near ended itself

That’s because it took them YEARS to implement rollback. By the time they did the players had moved on.
