    As a kayaker and a bank fisher this situation is always frustrating. At the bank its really frustrating that people are inconsiderate of space and people that are already have lines out. As a kayaker I typically stay away from where people to give people their space.

    Very good of you to treat a fellow human being with didnity and respect, especially since kayaker seemed to have made a mistake coming in so close. We all make mistakes and we all appreciate forgiveness and understanding from others when we do. Well done, sir. My dad told me years ago that "whatever happens to us is not nearly as important as how we react to it".

    We have lake rules out here and boats must stay 50 yards away from shore when fisherman are present. Bass fishermen blow up spots all the time and troll the shores right next to people fishing. Then they get mad when they get line tangled in their trolling motors. I use braid just to add a little insult to injury.

    I use to do this on the Outer Banks of NC. Oregon Inlet on the sound side. Wade around and find a nice spot. You never know what you might catch. That was the fun of it for me. After decades of owning 4wd vehicles and riding the beach fishing. Getting off where most people dont go unless in a boat or kayak is peaceful.

    I've been fishing both salt and fresh water for years.... when I see people on boats or even on land interfere or get too close and interfere with my line, I get really annoyed.
    I go out of my way to give people their space whether they are swimming or fishing.... it's called respect and being honorable.
    There is an entire ocean, lake or shoreline out there..... they have to show up right on your doorstep.
    It's difficult for me to show patience and respect for such people.
    It's common sense really.
    I've been vocal with people on such occasions..... it's very difficult not to.
    Excellent video and excellent patience 👍

    It's great to see the Reds come back. In 1971, I decided to catch a big redfish. I caught the highest tide every month at San Luis Pass from August through the first week of December when I finally caught a 33-pounder off the San Luis Pass pier. It was the only keeper-sized red I caught that year. I had no choice but to keep her. She died fighting me as I dragged her out of the flooding tide with a 17-pound test rig. My reel was barely up to the job as the spool finally split, when I had to drag her dead weight across the pass after she died. She was the only big red I saw caught that year.
    I got to fish with Dad for almost 60 years and only beat him twice. Both times, I was using a two-pound test line, and he was using a four-pound test line. One was fishing for specs off Dagger Island, Texas, using single worm 1/8 & 1/4 oz jigs. The other was jigging for crappie in a private pond designed for bass fishing. The boat turned, and I was out in deep water away from the brush where the crappie was spawning when a nine-pound blue cat hit that jig like a Jack Cravalle. It was one of the hardest fights I ever fought with a fish.

    I see so many people get upset when someone gets into their lines off the beach. I mean they are 100 yards or more out. You can't expect everyone to see your line and know they are that far out. Especially if they are fishing the same area you are. Glad you took it in stride and got back to fishing.

    • @jimmyfumbanks6081
      @jimmyfumbanks6081 Před 10 měsíci +2

      So the person on the beach needs to figure out whether or not the person in the boat has enough sense not to run over their line. Or the person in the boat is just mad because he has seen the guy catching way more fish than he has caught the entire year and is having a hissing fit and is going to cut the guy on the beaches line .

    • @mattsloop2736
      @mattsloop2736 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @jimmyfumbanks6081 honestly I think if your 200 yards out that's on you. You can't expect people to think you walked 100 yards out then cast another 100. At that point its unreasonable. Now if your 100 yards or less and someone sees your poles and comes in then yeah they are dumb

    How about this one: You first walk for about an hour along the beach to find a spot where there are no peple nearby that are bathing. You start finding spots but then as you start setting up, out of nowhere folks show up and start swimming right where you are setting up to fish. After going from spot to spot like this for about 3 hours, you finally find an area that is deserted and has no folks living nearby. You set up, start to fish, catch 1 undersized fish and as you are removing the hook, out of nowhere, a group of girls go right up to the water and are clearly about to go swim right where you have your other fishing lines in the water with 1/0 hooks. Dumbfounded you look on as they actually proceed to start going into the water where your fishing lines are and you have to yell out to them to get out of the water and go somewhere else before they get hurt by the hooks. Only to be greeted with the most blank stares of disbelief from each of the teenage girls as you actually have to explain to them how fishing works and show them the size hooks they were about to get stuck in their legs had they continued.

Guy gets right next to us throwing a casting net all in front of us working the bottom.😳 Two huge shipping container ships are crossing in in between the jetties. Me and my buddies know what’s fixing to happen as we’ve already gotten back. So we just watch and wait. The surge from both of these boats was at least 10’ min. Comes in and takes him and his net with it. I’m laughing my ass off and he now gotten pulled in is completely soaked and his waiters are now full of water.

    Hey I love that area you fished early morning for reds. What was difference in the tackle from your heavy to light rig. You said you had 20lb on the light one what was hook size? Did heavy rig have heavier weight line and hook size? Guess lighter rig you did not cast out as far. Nice outing today

    Hey Brant, I’m surprised none of your team has had Jack Motley take y’all off Perdido to catch a big tarpon. He had a video, a couple of years ago, where he took a friend out on kayaks and caught one about 6 feet long.

    Just asking. I thought you would think the rays are like pest and wouldn't let them go back free in the water. Don't they make it hard and dangerous for surf fishing?

    Yo man, how do you always get that perfect corner of the mouth hook set when your fishing like that? I just got into catching reds off the jetties with cut bait, I most fly fish or throw artificial. Lately I’ve been finding the fish are getting hooked in the back of the throat. I was using 12/0 in line circle hook and file down the barbs, just easier for hook removal and somehow it’s always been in the back of their throat.

    I still have a tiny piece of barb in my ankle from Navarre. That was a world of hurt.

    Dudes on boats/kayaks will have the entire ocean/lake to fish and they’ll still find a way to be in the way

    @angleruptv have you ever been stung by a sting ray? If so how do you treat the wound?

    It's just a shame when a kayaker gets caught in your line, and you have to go through all the work bleeding and cleaning them before you stick them in your trunk.
