    Thank you soooooo much for sharing this video. Now I know I’m not crazy when I say that when the weather changes my arthritis pain is horrible. Cold days, foggy days and especially rainy days are the worst.

    This also affects anyone who has metal in their body. I call it walking barometer syndrome. I'm fused C3-T4, I can feel the weather in my head, neck, shoulders and upper arms.

    An informative and clear explanation thank you. I have been debating this very topic for years with colleagues in the fitness industry and gp's (some didn't understand), as I have arthritis in my left hip and a inflammatory condition.
    I have managed to avoid surgery by doing the things you have suggested, so far so good. 😊🙏🏿

      This happens with those who suffer from osteoarthritis, as well as "other kinds" of arthritis as well. Excessive wear on certain joints adds to the cup of pain

    What really causes me the worst pain is the RATE of change.

    I suffer from ON and TN, when the pressure drops am in misery. Spring and fall with it moves like a roller coaster are the worse. But I always hear “ice” but when my nerve pain is flared, ice is excruciating. Heat seems to calm my nerves and lessen the stabbing pain.

    Why do I hurt like heck before a rain storm and am much better once the rain starts.

    • @timhartshornm.d.8706
      @timhartshornm.d.8706  Před 2 lety +4

      Thanks for the question Yatespeare. The barometric pressure is actually changing (actively dropping) before the storm comes, that is one of the reasons the storm forms in the first place. Once the storm "starts," the barometric pressure doesn't change much or it starts to go back up towards the end of the storm.

    It's implied at the beginning of this video that sunny and cold conditions don't co-exist. That's contrary to climate in Phoenix or Las Vegas. Both are sunny, desert conditions and it gets quite cold in Dec-Feb (not uncommon to get below 32ºF). I'm confused!

    I'm curious to know if, besides joint pain and headaches (I tend to get a migraine when the atmospheric pressure drops dramatically), the health consequences apply to other areas of the body (blood/heart-related, lymph system, etc)?

    Can you give any info on why and how vitamin D helps? I'm curious

    • @timhartshornm.d.8706
      @timhartshornm.d.8706  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi Alex! Great question. Vitamin D regulates the body's calcium, which is essential for hardening our bones and contracting our muscles. Additionally, many researchers think that vitamin D also has some anti-inflammatory effects, which can help with joint pain caused by inflammation. While the reason behind why that's the case is unclear, studies have shown that people suffering from arthritis are more likely to be low on vitamin D. Studies have also shown that those with vitamin D deficiencies are more likely to develop rheumatoid arthritis in the future. Thanks for watching!

    If u had a knee arthroscopy and they break the capsule, does ur fluid leak out to other parts of the body?

    • @timhartshornm.d.8706
      @timhartshornm.d.8706  Před 2 lety

      It absolutely does Holly. Usually it goes into the back part of the leg and gravity will pull it into the calf. If a patient has significant calf pain after a knee scope, it can either be a DVT or it could be because the fluid leaked out into the leg through the back part of the knee joint. Hope this helps!

      Hi Hemajl, the short answer is I do not know for sure. I would defer to a headache specialist or neurologist to answer your question better, but this mechanism may be playing a role if associated with rainfall. The cerebral vessels are also vulnerable to dilation and constriction like the vessels around a joint. Definitely worth looking into more...

    I live in Florida. I'm only 45 years old but I've done some weightlifting and powerlifting. Pressure in Florida is absolute murder on my joints I'm considering moving to Maine. I actually do much better in colder climates. Anyone with joint pain or inflammation I would not advise you to move to Florida never ever ever

      I hear ya!!
      Never ever recommend Central/South Texas either!! I am craving stable, predictable weather. I've tried everything under the sun without breaking bank to control my inflammation naturally and holistically, but nothing beats dry, cooler temperatures that stays relatively the same or steady--not bipolar like it is here. Uggghh. 3 days of low pressure/high humidity/foggy/damp air; then 3 days of chilly/sunny/super dry/high pressure days. I have to switch from A/C to heater every 3 days to keep the air from stagnation. Allergens and mold spores thrive and are rampant here also.
